There may be a fuse for the DRL's. Check the manual which is the fuse, and simply remove it to disable them. This way it wouldn't void the warranty.

The boot lid was ever so slightly misaligned, the gap on the left was more than the gap on the right...
Any ideas why it might be misaligned? ...

Maybe the rubber stoppers/bushes on either side of the boot lid might need to be screwed/turned. Usually these are to ensure the boot closes without any *clank*, but may cause such minor 'mis-alignment'. Still, if you have a pic, it'll help.

Congratulations to both of you'll again.

Oh did you check with buying a policy yourself? Just go to one of their websites & they'll give you a quote. I've VERY often seen them offer MUCH better prices than the dealer. Its no big deal, often barely takes 20mins, choose your best offer & they'll simply guide you through the payment. (Personally, I'd never recommend Reliance Insurance. I rarely choose Reliance in any of my businesses, particularly ones including buying insurance.)

Enjoy!

The insurance quote seems a little high. Please bargain further and I am sure you will get a better deal. The Zero Dep premium on my XT diesel was lesser than this.

Thanks for the info, how much did you pay for insurance, and what was the IDV?

These are initial quotes, I think this should become more reasonable after some comparison shopping + 50% NCB from my previous car.

You might have to consider another 2k for the standard accessories kit consisting of mud flaps, footmat

Some 10k was part of the quote for "Accessories Pack", seemed too ridiculous so got rid of that. I think mudflap + mats will cost 1,200

For IDV of Rs.6,75,851 and Zero Depreciation, the premium was Rs.20,353. I checked on policy bazaar to get a comparison and the price I was being offered seemed very reasonable.

IDV seems to be higher than Ex Showroom (6,54,497). Is that the norm for Zest?

The ex-showroom for Diesel XT is Rs.7,11,422.

Slick, in my opinion dealer should be able to get this alignment right. This could be something to do with the spring used for boot release. When my Zest was rear ended I had a similar looking gap due to impact. Body shop did get it right after they fixed the dent.

Rest of the PDI went well, I have given the go ahead for registration. I have asked him to fix the boot issue before delivery.

There seems to be some turmoil in Mumbai RTOs due to ban on agents. The SA said tentatively Friday.
Else he offered delivery on TC number plate and then registration if I was in a hurry, Friday 23rd is an auspicious day.

Thanks for the input guys. Ideally an on/off switch installed by Tata will be the best solution. One, no issue with warranty. Secondly, in an emergency in the jungle, I will not have time to fiddle around for the fuse box and that too in dark. Of course, I am not looking at an option to permanently disable it.

Is fixing a black insulation tape while you are crossing the Jungle a tolerable workaround?

Guys have completed 3k kms on my XMA and soon should be taking the car in for its first service. The car on the last 2 tank full methods returned 16.3 and 16.9kmpl mostly in Delhi city driving.

I have no issues with the car other than I see sometimes the HK system hangs when paired with my oneplus one. Not sure if this is something to do with my phone though. However, still need to spend on the ORVMs soon which were stolen so will get a chance to experience the TASS soon. However, I am lucky that I have this new showroom of TATA AutoVikas that I need to go and in all my correspondences the staff is well trained and very polite. Will update once I get the 1st service done.

Cheers

Found this acceleration video of Zest Revotron
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNZD3VtjdEA

Must say that it is decently quick at around 13s. Quicker than most of the petrol engines found in other heavy cars. The Bolt should be about 0.5s quicker due to shorter gearing I guess.

To Mods: Posting it since the video does not show insane speeds.

I have learnt mechanics. Tata has made me learn so many things. I was happy for one more thing

This happened in my Maruti as well ( now sold) moisture causes corrosion / carbon deposit on the connectors behind horn pads over a period of time cleaning / replacing the connectors is solution.

I understand you have sold the car now but if someone faces similar problem in any brand car this is what they should look for.

Found this advertisement in today's Chennai Times newspaper.

Proud moment as a member of Team-BHP :)

Drive Safe.

After booking the Zest on 14-Dec, I took the delivery on 20-Jan. I got the November manufactured XMS in December pricing.

The PDI was normal. But observed three things:
1. It was driven for 126 KM
2. There was a little vibration. It was not as normal as a new petrol car should have. I was persuaded that it would go away after driving for sometime. I knew, it would not.
3. The checklist from their side mentioned about spare bulbs and fuses. But I was not given any. I was told that TML were not supplying them with new cars so couldnt be given. I mentioned it as a suggestion in the feedback form.

The registration was not done at the time of the delivery. Which was done on 22-Jan. After that I drove the car for about 60 Kms. Here are some observations so far.
1. Harman is amazing. I couldnt pair my Lenovo, Micromax and Xiaomi Note. There was some struggle to pair Lenovo.
2. I think the headlights are sufficient in night. Some reviews mentioned that high beams were not very good. Though I didnt drive the car on Highways so far.

Some negatives:
3. May be the vibration comes only on Eco mode and when on idling. Has anybody observed ?
4. The AC is not as powerful as it was during my 3 test drives
5. Unable to reset trip meter to 0. Any help ?

I am thankful to you all. I sold my Santro some 5 months back. Since than I was searching for a new car. During my search, I checked Celerio, Ritz, Liva, Amaze and Xcent. At the start of my search, I decided I would never even go to a Tata showroom. After the launch of Zest, first I came on this forum and you guys encouraged me to go to a showroom. During my first test drive, I shortlisted Zest. Between Zest and Xcent, I was in dilemma for nearly 3 months. But ultimately my family and me unanimously decided for Zest. So a big thanks to all of you.
