Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

I love the body kit and the mood lighting. The body kit makes the car look really awesome.
Good job tata I am proud of you. I hope that they price it right.

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

@Damodar, thats quite a nice accessories list. Thanks for posting it!

I'm glad TAMO is sticking to blaupunkt for audio accessories. I liked the speakers they had fitted in my Indigo CS and hated parting with them when I sold the car.

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

So with the accessories list, the TTR(Tuned to Race) name is being seen for the first time officially. Back in Feb, there were some mentions of a supposed performance version of Bolt called TTR Bolt. It looks like it'll just be a normal Bolt with sporty body kit. I hope not.

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

Zest looks real swell in the white shade. It's been a long gap between the marketing hype, the launch and the actual delivery. And the Diesel AMT is still few months off! This is a lack of strategy or just plain bad planning between the marketing and production departments.

This Ganeshutsav was a golden opportunity for Tata to deliver the initial lots to all the pre-bookings. I think Hyundai is the only company that manages the entire process of launching a new car very effectively.

I guess this should be one of the BEST list of options we have straight from the factory. This actually adds an extra level of personalisation to the car.

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

I cancelled my online booking for a petrol XMS. The procedure says send an email to 'connect@tatamotors.com' for cancellation and the money will be refunded in 21 days. I sent an email 5 days back, and a reminder 2 days back; but not getting any acknowledgement.

Called the dealership (Hyson motors, Thrissur, KL) and they plainly washed their hands stating you booked online and you have to deal directly with Tata. Looks like Tata hasn't changed much. Anybody got suggestions on what to do next? I will call their Tollfree number 800 209 7979 and see what their response is.

Any particular reason for cancelling your booking?

No dates given on delivery of the XMS trim in the color we needed, but needed a car urgently.

Ah ok, I was worried if there was some problem with the car that I should be aware of. We were told deliveries will commence by October, but again, no confirmation on the colours that would be available.

Re: Tata Zest : Official Review

While I appreciate many things in the accessories list, some other stuff is quite unnecessary.

Rs.31,000/-
for a Head Unit. Why wouldn't one spend abit more and go for the highest variant with the Factory Fitted Harman Kardon system instead?

Actually, such lists scare me, because you never know if the manufacturer decides to simply void the warranty if you choose even basic after-market stuff.

For Example, the Parking Sensors with Camera and Display on IRVM is priced at Rs.20,350/-!!! IIRC Even Fiat charges ~Rs.10,500/- including 'labour' for such stuff. Its something I got locally installed on my Linea for just Rs.4,700/- last November.

Additionally,
  • Rs.18,510/- for a 7.8 inch "Rear Seat Entertainment Tab", could quite surely be bought at better prices online
(unless one chooses an overpriced brand + the list doesn't even specify any specific specs for it).
  • Rs.7,660/- for its "Cradle" too could be bought for much lower online.
  • Rs.6250/- for a "Heads Up Display" could be substituted by a simple free Android app that could be loaded on simple Android phones.
  • Rs.14,250/- For HUD with TPMS. A simple device costing ~2K could be attached to the OBD Port & connected through Bluetooth to the phone (with apps like Torque) could give all that info and MUCH more!
  • Rs.9,500/- for a 'Portable' Navigation device. Sygic on Android is free now.
I'm not trying to act too smart, but an Android Tablet & a Mobile could substitute the above, and the these things are easily doable.
Why would anyone buy them from Tata?

Anyway, just hope they don't get too greedy and force people to use only 'official accessories'.

(Edit : lol looking at 750/- for a Mobile Holder & 1250/- for 2 cushions, I wonder why they haven't added Rs.5000/- for a Zest T-Shirt, Rs.3,000/- for key-chain or Rs.2,000/- for Caps lol)

Sorry, but in that case, TML will void your warranty even if you seat in Zest with non Zest branded garments.
