Re: Hyundai Elite i20 : Official Review

Greetings to everyone !

So we got our Elite i20 (White - Asta Diesel) on the 30th of Sep from the HPM Chennai showroom. We had a really positive experience with hyundai both during the initial booking of the car as well as the during the delivery. The folks at HMP did a good job at making us feel special.

My experience with this hatchback has been a positive one so far and I hope it remains so

Some of the things I love about this car:
  • On Road it really feels like your are behind the wheels of a big car and the ride and handling is good
  • Space on the inside is best in the segment
  • The OVRMs work flawlessly everytime I walk next to the car
Some things that i wish Hyundai had included in the package:
  • Auto locking doors with speed increase
  • Fuel Log
Over the last weekend i had visited the 3M car car center in Santhome Chennai where Mr Sundar briefed me well on all the services at their outlet. Here is what i i had chosen for the i20
  • 3M Underchassis Anti Rust Coating
  • Nomad Carpet Protection Mats
  • Exterior Paint Sealant - Exterior Annual Maintenance Package

Would you be able to share the price of the various 3M services that you mentioned? I am particularly interested in the Nomad mats.

Thank you. Here are the pricing details:
  • 3M Underchassis Anti Rust Coating - 3390
  • Nomad Carpet Protection Mats - 4803
  • Exterior Paint Sealant - Exterior Annual Maintenance Package - 8789
These are excluding service tax and vat.

I would highly recommend these mats as they are custom cut for each car to give you that snug fit and is easier to maintain than the regular ones.

Its Genius PU leather for 13.5K. I preferred interior color combination and hence Mr.Mohammed has chosen these colors. I selected the design combination.

Re: Hyundai Elite i20 : Official Review

One of our office team members got his Asta petrol at a whopping 7.65 lacs on-road Pune. IMHO, its way too expensive for a 1.2 litre petrol engine. I agree that its supposed to be a premium hatch with all bells and whistles, but still spending close to 8 lacs on a petrol hatch is not worth IMO.

No offence meant to any of i20 petrol owners.

Everybody's situation is different. Your friend thought petrol i20 suited best for his needs and priorities. He has spent his hard earned money. I hope he enjoys the car for a very long time.

The other day I was traveling back to Pune from Solapur and was behind a new gen white i20. The taillights looked really fabulous, the car also felt massive and the bmw like interiors.
I drive the old gen i20 (bought in 2010) and my wife instantly said lets exchange this for new i20
But I don't have plans to sell my car for one more year so I waiting for a better option, probably the ix25.

Ouch! so a car booked now will be delivered in December, which is smack bang in the middle of 'oh-this-car-is-a-year-old' pedantic psyche. Enough of rant. Let's see what promise I get. Will keep this thread posted.

Did Chennai-Alleppey-Chennai trip last week during the long weekend with family in my new EI20.

Route - Chennai-Coimbatore-Palakkad-Thrissur-Cochin-Alleppey
Total Distance - 1800kms
Speed Maintained - 90-100
Mileage - 17kmpl (combined highway+city)
18.5 (highway)

It was absolute breeze driving EI20 throughout the trip and never faced any issues during the entire stretch which included both D&N driving.

Congrats on your whilte Asta. Thanks for sharing the detail of your purchase.

Guys,
Seat covers are done at Jeewajee, Chennai (Chamiers road). There was a tiny damage like knife cut on front seat which was found after fixing all. Mr.Mohammed replaced it immediate next day by coming to my home. He is very friendly and I am happy with the purchase.

Hi Ssengo,

That's a nice mileage you got considering Petrol i20. Did you get your 1st service done? I got my i20 Petrol last week and waiting for my first mileage.

Looks nice!

Btw are these installed after removing oem fabric, or over the oem fabric?

Odo has clocked 2300 kms so far and waiting for the first service this weekend. I'm sure you will get the same mileage when you stick to constant speed until first service.
