I guess regular maintenance is not the comparison factor here. Of course regular service might be more or less the same across brands. This is mainly because consumables and labour charges are similar in hyundai and maruti. Speak about part replacements and thats when the difference arises. Recently, replaced both brake discs and brake pads of my SX4 and it costed 4500 including labour. The same job on a City or a Verna would easily cost double that amount. Here is where the equation will be offset heavily. As long as its just the regular service, all brands will have comparable or even less cost than Maruti.

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Official Review

Delhi Government has reduced VAT on Hybrid cars by 7.5%.
The revised VAT applicable will be 5% as against 12.5%.

If this is applicable on the Diesel CIAZ Hybrid then there would be negligible price difference between the Petrol & Diesel.

Your comments on this please.

Exactly. But Maruti will not plonk the SHVS in their smaller cars, as the resultant tax (5%) results to nearly 10-20K saving, and won't cover the SHVS cost of Rs 30K approx.

Hi antardaksh,

The MRP is Rs. 1090/- each. The covers are also available in Red and Black. I guess the cover should fit Vento too, as it fits flat on the seat. But, I'm not sure whether Vento’s headrest would fit into the slots on the cover.

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Official Review

Maruti seems to be going on an offensive on Ciaz. The discounts have increased substantially from April when I got my car.

Current offers listed in Pasco website.

Exchange bonus = 50K
Consumer offer = 20K
Corporate discount = 10K

Looks like they are interested in clearing the inventory.

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Official Review

The prices of Ciaz ZDi have come down by Rs 69500/= on ex showroom in Delhi due to Vat cut by Delhi govt. Was told by sales advisor when enquired.

Yes the Maruti website is now updated for Delhi. Substantial reduction for Zdi plus and RS models considering the ex showroom price impact. Guess petrol Ciaz will be heavily discounted now as mentioned above.

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Official Review

As excise duty on the Ciaz diesel, which gets a micro-hybrid system, is reduced to 12.5 percent from 24 percent, Maruti has updated prices of the Ciaz SHVS for New Delhi. Ex-showroom prices of the Ciaz SHVS have dropped by INR 55,000-69,000 depending on the variant.

The Maruti Ciaz VDi, which was earlier priced at INR 8.23 lakhs now costs INR 7.68 lakhs. Below is the variant-wise price of the Ciaz SHVS with the older price in brackets:

1.Maruti Ciaz VDi – INR 7.68 (INR 8.23)
2.Maruti Ciaz VDi (O) – INR 7.81 (INR 8.38)
3.Maruti Ciaz VDi+ – INR 8.22 (INR 8.82)
4.Maruti Ciaz ZDi – INR 8.89 (INR 9.53)
5.Maruti Ciaz ZDi+ – INR 9.49 (INR 10.18)

That means it is a cool 2.5-3 lakhs cheaper than the Honda City. Makes it a great VFM. The VDI+ can be a good alternative for those looking for compact sedans and premium hatchbacks.

You are totally correct on the price reduction but this price reductuon is due to reduction of VAT in delhi on hybrid cars from 12.5% earlier to 5% and not on account of excise duty reduction.
Had there reduction on account of excise duty there would be reduction of prices on pan india basis and not only in delhi.
This reduction is specific to delhi only on account of reduction of VAT.

At first the prices didn't increase post budget due to duty waivers for hybrids which in reality saved 4% hike and now an additional 7% reduction due to Delhi budget has put all aces in Maruti's favour. Won't be surprised to see Ciaz rule the roost for a while. Hope to see heavy discounts on City or perhaps an earlier launch of next generation City due next year.

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Official Review

Is the price reduction only for New Delhi or throughout India - sorry if its a dumb question!

Edit: Read @Kshitizag's post and it seems for Delhi only - got unnecessarily excited at the possibility of a VDI+ at 9L on roads in Hyderabad.

Dear Maruti

Fantastic! Now please launch 1.6 in the Ciaz and introduce SHVS in S-Cross. While you're at it, launch them with auto boxes.

I feel when one would go to buy the Honda City or the (cheaper) Ciaz 1.6, it might be a no brainer!

That will go a long way in building your image as a performance manufacturer along with the mileage perception that exists today.

Regards
Someone looking forward to the above cars!

Re: Maruti Ciaz : Official Review

What kind of Hybrid is Ciaz Diesel SHVS actually and how is it exempted from the Delhi odd - even I am still yet to understand but anyways a brilliant news for both private and commercial fleet operators. I guess soon we might end up seeing self drive car rentals replacing their Honda City diesels with Ciaz SHVS VDi+ and ZDi variants! The car has become a brilliant value for money proposition. A comfortable car with a good equipment list and a tried and tested engine which can definitely do a couple of lakh of kms with ease. What more does a normal Mango man want?

It is not a hybrid. Hybrid means a mix of at least two hetero technologies. The SHVS just switches off the engine when you stop at a traffic signal.
Even my car is a hybrid then. I turn the engine off on traffic signals too. Why the Ciaz is exempted from odd even in Delhi is a matter of sarcasm to me.
