Hello Hemanth,

I wanted to upgrade the headlight performance on my 2016 TDI LE. The car has the factory fitted projectors, I wanted to upgrade to a Blue-White set up. From your update, if I manage to get the Skoda guys to swap the set up the warranty will not stand void?

Thanks
Ashwin

Re: 2014 Skoda Rapid 1.5L DSG : Official Review

Hi All,

I am facing a very peculiar problem with my Rapid. The suspension behavior is not consistent. On some days the suspension feels very stiff and on some days the suspension feels very soft. I prefer the suspension to be stiff but this inconsistent behavior is not to my liking. I have checked the air pressure whenever the the suspension felt smooth but there was no reduction in the air pressure.

The suspension firms up whenever I drive the car a little aggressively. But it looses its stiffness in few days.

Could you all help me to troubleshoot this issue ?

Re: 2014 Skoda Rapid 1.5L DSG : Official Review

Hello all, I have covered about 30,000 Kms in my Rapid Dsg which was bought in June 2016. The car is mainly used for out station travel to my village areas ( Mumbai to Sindhudurg ) 4 to 5 times a year and for leisure purpose on weekends. The ownership has mostly been uneventful barring a replacement of steering mounted control button which broke on its own. I am consistently getting a fuel economy of 19 to 22 kms a litre on tankful measurement basis which I am very satisfied about. The car has held up pretty well even after having seen the worst monsoon dreaded roads of Konkon on several occasions.

I love my car to bits and would like to keep her as long as possible. The only thing which worries me is the long term reliability of the Dq200 dry clutch gearbox. I drive the car with utmost care and make sure to shift to manual mode where I feel the car's slipping the second gear specially in bumper to bumper traffic. I would like to know if any special maintenance needs to be done to take care of the gear box at any specific service interval to preserve and extend its life.

I would also like to know whats the highest mileage covered by our fellow members on their beloved Rapid/Vento Tdi Dsg's.This would really help me have a sign of relief. Thanks You.

Hello, Sir I have the same observation in my Rapid as well, when driven aggressively the car feels planted and stable however when driven at lower speeds on the same undulations the car pitches and bounces especially the rear suspension when going over sudden undulations.

Dear members I would like to share my service experience of my skoda Rapid Tdi Dsg done at a FNG for the first time. The car is about 6 and a half year old and has done close to 57000 kms. The last annual service was done a Skoda ASC at 47150kms. However I was disappointed when I was told that the Diesel filter was not replaced and when inquired they said that the company policy had changed. I am pretty sure their inventory was the problem. Secondly the Engine oil was filled much higher than the max mark on the dip stick. Again I was told that its acceptable. Now as the car is now out of warranty I wanted to get the car serviced at a FNG. Luckily a good friend of mine happens to own a FNG close to my house. This time the 6th annual service was carried out there.
I have a habit of checking the car fluids before any long journeys.

Lately I found that the coolant expansion chamber has got dull and upon inspection the coolant colour had become dark.

I decided to change the coolant as a precautionary step during this service. The coolant used was the genuine VW G12 evo ready mix which is currently used by the ASC. 7 Litres was procured and 6 litres went in. 1 litre is kept for emergency.
Lot of research and also by refering to our members posts I decided to go with Motul X-cess 5w40 Fully synthetic Engine oil. Rest of the filters were OEM.
The parts used :-

Here are my findings at 57000 kms, ( Last service was carried out at 47150 kms )

The air filter condition since last service :

The new airfilter Going in :-

Oil filter condition :-

New oil filter and o rings :-

Engine oil and coolant filled in:-

The coolant expansion chamber had to be detached and cleaned property to get rid of the discolouration formed. The final outcome was good.

The first crank after the whole service showed a noticeably easier startup and slightly lower idle clatter. A test drive was conducted to make sure all was good and I am happy to note that the response of the motor on this oil is way better than the ASC oil. The engine revs more freely and the gruff note coming in the 2000-3500 rpm range has subdued by a noticeable margin.
(Could be a placebo effect) The temps shown at he mid stayed at the stable 90 degrees as before. The coolant level dropped by about 200ml after the test drive which was topped up till the max mark. ( Total 6 litres )

Any other interesting findings will be updated in the followup posts.
Thank you for staying till here , hope you have a good day ahead.

This was really helpful, thanks.
My Rapid DSG ran out of Warrenty last year and I'm looking for good FNG in my town. Can you please tell me how much did the parts and labour cost you? Did you find the OEM filters locally or did you buy them online?

Hello sir, regarding parts, all are oem parts procured by the FNG. Part cost are the same what you find in the ASC. Labour was approx 1500. Coolant costs around 400 rs a litre.Oil cost differs from place and availability.

Similar experience in terms of oil. Toyota branded oil on my 2011 Corolla runs harsher, smoothness deteriorates quicker (less smoother to begin with), and engine idles bit higher with greater vibrations.

Replaced with Castrol Edge fully synthetic and a huge difference. Lesser vibes, smoother, idles slightly lower, feels so much better. Overall expense for the oil change remained the same.

Finding a competent FNG is equally important as the regular service itself.
I’m not an expert here, but I think engine flush before oil change, gear oil change, coolant change, intercooler cleaning, careful radiator cleaning should have been done for the 2014 car with 57k kms odometer, for better results. (I assume break oil was changed in last service)
My Tiago diesel is nearing 60k kms and I intend to do the above-mentioned things soon.2014 Skoda Rapid 1.5L DSG : Official Review-c0c3224e7d41493cb10e37c7a12c5cd0.jpeg
Already started preparations for the same.
