Re: My Skoda Rapid 1.5L DSG, Elegance : Initial ownership experience

Hello people, so delighted to tell you all that I've today taken the delivery of my Skoda DSG Cappuccino Beige (Black Package), VIN 2015. It's awesome to say the least. Some quick pointers that I discovered during my first day of driving.
  • Stock Tyres are now JK Vectra (in earlier 2014 models I believe it was Apollo)
  • The steering feel is changed for the better. It does not feel artificially light in the city anymore
  • I found it to be more silent inside, absolutely hushed

The car is fantastic to drive and I'll soon be starting another thread on my experience. Attaching a picture, will add more in my review.

Hello people, so I am back after hibernation. Let me start by apologising to all fellow members and moderators since I flouted the rules and paid the penalty. Moving forward, had taken the delivery of my Skoda Rapid 1.5 DSG on 12th January and it was a dream come true. Will start my ownership thread separately.

The car has crossed 2000 kms today with a mix of city and highway drive. Fuel efficiency has been North of 16 kmpl.

However in less than one month of my ownership, I am facing an issue where the glow plug warning light is flashing intermittently. When the light flashes there is immediate drop in engine performance. The problem vanishes after a restart. Have faced this problem thrice since yesterday in about 120 kms. Any pointers?

Hello there!
Even I'm facing the same strange problem on my 8 month old vehicle (1.6 TDI), but only immediately after the first 6 months free check up.
Still yet to determine what the fault is.
But, is there performance drop?
Well, I haven't encountered that though.

I would suggest both of you to take the car ASAP to Workshop an have it scanned with VAS machine which will give the reason for this issue.

Since you are facing a power drop this has got to do something with injectors. Don't worry.

A small piece of advice after owning Vento TDi for close to 4 years, get
1. Extended Warranty
2. Road Side Assistance 2 + 2 years.

Don't wait till the problem compounds or you get stranded somewhere.

One query - is it recommended to bring the car to N if idling at a signal. I am not too sure from reading the manual. Also the service advisor was not too confident while answering this question.

Hi Abhjain, congrats on your new ride.
I prefer shifting to N whenever I anticipate the stop to be more than a minute or so. Makes sense as the D mode does not really disengage the transmission fully. It is now become my habit to do so.
One advice, never put the car in P mode, while in traffic, as that involves sliding past R mode which potentially pauses your quick engagement to D for many seconds. This could result in panic/embarrassment .

Re: 2014 Skoda Rapid 1.5L DSG : Official Review

Finally I am getting my white DSG Elegance plus delivered tomorrow evening, had multiple arguments with the dealer and finally pulled Skoda officials to sort out the matter, looks like Skoda improved a lot all these days.
Not very keen on art leather seat covers but can't change them now, may be I'll wait for a year time to replace them with original leather seat covers.
I am not taking their package of making the roof black and door decals, better will get the roof painted with shiny black rather putting the sticker. Need to check the availability of door decals.
Will post pics tomorrow.

Re: 2014 Skoda Rapid 1.5L DSG : Official Review

Yesterday took delivery of my Rapid, evening will post the pics, as somewhere it was covered over here that now Rapid is coming with JK tyres, I think it's applicable for Ambition models and still Elegance is coming with Apollo.
Fuel was almost zero and display was showing just 40 kms car can cover, filled shell and car drank 45.77 liters in auto cut mode.

Congratulations! Please make sure to keep the tank filled as my Rapid registered an error in the OBD for the same and started cutting the turbo output off and on. Have shared my feedback in my earlier post. My Rapid is 2014 VIN and came with Apollo.

Need a few pointers from fellow owners. After passing through bumper to bumper traffic the drive of my car becomes a bit sluggish. The free revving nature of the engine and throttle response become low which is back to normal after a few kms. Guess this is normal as per the adaptive nature of DSG box?
