I am sure there are many factors which contribute to the price difference. Come on - I have found differences in different cities of the same state! I would guess transportation and taxes would be the main contributors. However, I am sure there are many experts on this forum, who can elaborate.

You are right - this possibility definitely exists!

In my experience with various garages of different makes, I have found that my judgement of the persons involved has been 'mostly' right. 1985 to 1999 2-wheelers' and since then 4-wheelers' showrooms and service centers have been 'tested' by me. It is not that I did not ever suffer. But then I never went back! My interactions over the last 1 year with the M&M showroom and a couple of visits to their yard have given me confidence! Of course - time will tell. But I like to give rope! I would rather start with a positive and if any negative has to start - let it be on their side!!

Also, on another note, due to my interactions on TBHP site, the nature of conversations I had were 'different' as compared to the 'other' clients! This was accepted by the SA and his boss! So, again, I hope that they realize I am not a fool and I have access to latest technical information!

In the end, I am being an optimist. Whether I am a realist - time will tell!

Two more stupid questions:

I checked the tyres of my new Scorpio: Bridgestone Dueler H/T 684 II 235/65/R17
I am very happy - I am a fan of Bridgestone tyres!

Q1. The dealer says that there is no warranty card for the tyres! I checked online and found a way of registering new tyres. Is this the right way? Any alternatives?
Q2. I understand the implications of 235/65/R17. What is the meaning of "H/T 684 II"? Even the Bridgestone site is not clear on this!

Note to self: I forgot to note down the manufacturing week and serial number details! I have to remember to do this at the next sighting!

Hi GK sir

The M mode in scorpio is not a true manual mode. It simply locks the upshifting to the max possible rpm. This is usually helpful during the ghat climb/descent.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

So, if I am in 3rd gear and shift to M, will it hold 3rd gear?
Also, if I cross some min/max rpm will it shift down/up respectively?

I dont have a manual for ATs but you can search for M modes in auto transmissions (not the tiptronic ones)

erst while toyotas had the option to lock in the highest gear of your choice- D/D3/D2/D1

There would be no problems in doing this.

If you are cruising at 80 in 5/6 th gear in AT mode, i would expect a downshift to the 3rd/4th gear to enable the availability of torque for overtaking. I have done this many times while driving on single lane highways to overtake trucks/trailers.

And dont worry about the high rpm... the engine capacity is not exhausted :D

Can you please elaborate on the last 3 items, Ex, Charges & Advance Income Tax. I never paid any of these while making the payment for my TUV, neither were these part of the quotation.

Just a few additions/corrections:
The fuel lid lever is not at the right hand bottom of the driver's seat. It is a small electronic / electric switch on the panel to the right of the driver! :)

I said Ex is Excise. Actually it is Extended Warranty.

One more point to add to the check list is:
Check for warning triangle.
