Great job done by refusing. With the 1000 saved buy yourself something or use it for fuel.

Always go by the owners manual and NOT what the SA says. Will save you fortunes.

Just back from a 800 km trip to the Konkan seacoast from Pune. The Alto K-10 AMT worked flawlessly, I used it in the "M" mode most of the time on the winding ghat roads. Got an overall fuel economy of 19.5 kmpl with AC on almost full time during the trip.

What impressed the most was the little Alto K10's handling on winding roads, and the ability to take bad road sections with poise. The ground clearance is also something to carry you safely over the bad road sections quite safely. We even did a ferry ride across the Bankot creek.

What is the ideal tire pressure for the new Alto K10 VXi? The owner's manual recommends 35 psi, but one of the advisers at MASS recommended 33 psi.

Tire pressure at 35 PSI is good for the Alto AMT VXI if fully loaded. If lightly loaded (2 passengers only) then 33 PSI will do. This is based on my own observation with the car over the past 2 months. :)

I have been using 35psi for my alto stock tyres and 95% of the time, its just me in the car. The tyres were over inflated when I got it from the showroom and I Failed to notice that for the first week. Been using 35psi for more than a month now and its been super smooth over un-tarred roads and potholes. :) The car came with Bridgstone S322 Tyres (Car was purchased from Khivraj Motors on OMR, Chennai)

Check the tire placard found on the B-Pillar frame on the drivers door. That should have the pressures to be maintained.

To what is mentioned add 1-2 psi if the air filing station is a bit far as tires get heated up.

tire pressure of 35 psi is too much IMO, will make for a harsher ride in the city. I vary between 30 - 32 (the latter being the recommended figure) for the city and 35 for the highways

I currently fill to around 32psi even though they mention 35psi. At 35 it becomes too hard on the suspension. Has anyone got their 3rd service done yet?

I have only completed 7000 kms till now.

Getting delivery Thursday for my Silver AMT! Planning a tyre upsize to either Bridgestone Turanza AR20 or Michelin XM2 165/65 R13 on the stock rims - car came with Bridgestone S322 so will have to shell out approx 700 (AR20) or 1000 (XM2) extra per tyre.

First of all congratulations on getting the delivery of the Alto K10. I have a few questions:
  1. When did you book the car?
  2. What was the waiting you had?
  3. What are the patterns of usage of this car - Mainly city runs?
  4. Requirements of the tyre that you are looking at?

Thanks! :)

1 - Feb-end booking, stuck to Silky Silver even though i was offered a grey in March.

2 - Waiting was informed as 6 weeks, but as usual they took 2 months

3 - Usage - second car to the 2014 SV Honda City iVTEC - mainly for shorter drives for dad & on weekdays for me to drive to work to Navi Mumbai (25km) if he doesnt need the car on that day. He doesnt touch the Honda City!

4 - Tyre requirements - 10mm upsize to basically improve grip & safety to make up for the lack of safety in the K10, while sticking to stock steel rims. As the original review by S2!!! states:

We would highly recommend a top quality tyre upgrade which will greatly improve the road manners of the car.

Cool! If they said 6 weeks and took 2 months then I have been quoted 2 months as waiting period. I have booked the car on 13th April (I hate this waiting period :Frustrati)

Looking your usage I feel it is best to stick to Bridgestone AR20.

XM2 is a great set of wheel but is softer and wears out slightly faster than XM2.

Congratulations :D. Looking forward to read your experience with your new car.

A very sensible option. Wider tyres would also improve braking to an extent and the wheels won't lock up as often either. Secondly, the K10 is prone to sliding around when pushed even moderately and an upsize will definitely control this tendency.
