Re: Tata Bolt 1.2L Revotron : Official Review

Had an opportunity to drive a colleagues Quadrajet XT today. Since I had driven the Swift ZDI recently, here are my findings:

- If one is blindfolded and sat inside a BOLT, it will have to be an expert on hand to tell this is a TATA product. Swift on the other hand feels much better than all of "Old Marutis" such as SX4, Ritz, Old Swift.

- I felt TATA have quite possibly out-done themselves with Bolt & Zest, though they have left a lot to desire for. For example, they have loaded the Bolt with some of the "Segment First" features such as Touch screen, Projector headlights, etc but IMO they should have really provided lot more useful features such as Dead Pedal, Steering reach adjustment, Touch screen tilted towards driver, etc. Swift on the other hand looks like it is finally worth paying for, over and above that 1.3MJD & Maruti badge.

- Tata BOLT may quite possibly be the answer to Indian roads. It simply glides over irrespective of tarmac, no tarmac, tar pal, etc. The seating position feels like a small SUV, considering I come from the GT TDI. Swift on the other hand, magically shrinks as soon as you get it. It may not have the best of ride in city, but I just love the way it can harness that body roll.

- TATA BOLT has a slight surge that can be felt when the turbo spools and picks up speed quite well. The noise insulation in the cabin is also quite good. Swift has lost that "Pinned to the seat" feeling that Old one had when the turbo spooled, but it felt a lot more pronounced than on the BOLT.

Very impressed with TATA quality interior. Its looking way better than maruti swift. It seems TATA has come out of Indica image. Good job TATA.

Re: Tata Bolt 1.2L Revotron : Official Review

Having owned an Indica Vista over a period of 4 years i must say Tata has come a long way. Kudos to Tata on the interior quality and overall design. I have been recommending this car to a lot of colleagues and friends as a more bang for the buck option. The only concern is the boot space, i always wished for a little more when i had owned the Vista.

Re: Tata Bolt 1.2L Revotron : Official Review

Tutu Dhawan (One of the Auto Experts) from CNBC Awaaz recommends Bolt from Tata Motors as the best option in the segment at the competitive price. Just came across the video on the Bolt FB Page

Re: Tata Bolt 1.2L Revotron : Official Review

I went to check out bolt in chd yesterday. they had balloons and seemed like some event had taken place in the morning.

I was given a card like an atm card with a bar code and told that I can test drive after showing this card at any dealer and automatically enter a draw where one winner will win a bolt. but turned out that they didn't have the td vehicle with them at the time !!! the salesman promised to call me today morning but nothing as of yet.

was also told that there is an offer by tata on exchange till 28 feb. they were giving a 45k bonus if you give your old car to them. my alto lx 2007, 62k km was valued at 1.15L plus 45k bonus.
so 1.6L for my car. how is this deal??

IMHO I'd push for 2L. Even though it is 2007, 62k km are quite less. Though it does depend on the current state of the car and its history.

And Bolt IS a vice choice!

Off topic:
Have you checked at Maruti ? They usually have pretty deals too, in case you are interested in Swift.

Re: Tata Bolt 1.2L Revotron : Official Review

Hi All,

My Sister has recently picked up a bolt Revotron XT and wants to install reverse camera with video output to existing central console. Is that possible? Has anyone tried it yet?

Psssst......Autocar India magazine reports a range topping Tata Bolt with ~120 bhp Revotron 1.2 Turbo is doing the rounds on test track. Tata is using the Fiat C510 gearbox to handle all the torque!

Are you sure it's 1.2 and not 1.4 or 1.5? The Revotron series has more than one engine.

I am referring to the Autocar India magazine print copy, in the section marked Confidential .

1.2L is what I gather. Whether it is the current CI block Revotron or one of their newer units with same cubic capacity is not clear.

According to the article, it is the same engine as the Bolt with increased power and the vehicle will be unveiled at the Geneva Motorshow next week.

Re: Tata Bolt 1.2L Revotron : Official Review

Motorbeam has reported that TATA has an Ace up its sleeve with this launch:

TATA Bolt with 120 BHP with 17" Alloys !!

If this launch does materialize, moderators on TBHP will have to start a new polling thread that will read, "Which is the Hottest Indian Hatch?"

- VW Polo GT
- Fiat Punto T-jet
- Tata Bolt 120 BHP

Re: Tata Bolt 1.2L Revotron : Official Review

Had been to the Tata Showroom at Jalgaon today, mainly to check the Bolt and the Zest.
The XE Variant of the Bolt Revotron costs 5,24,297/- on the roads of Jalgaon. The breakup of the cost is as follows -

Price - 445170
Insurance - 15537
R.T.O - 41565
Handling Charges - 5500
Coating - 3170
L.B.T - 13355

Total - 524297

Is this coating (I understand it to be the under body coating) compulsory?
