Re: 2015 Mahindra XUV500 Facelift : Official Review

Any idea when the 2017 XUV facelift will be introduced. There was a news item a couple of months ago that it will be introduced in August and there has been no further information on the same.

Mine is actually the prev gen XUV bought in 2015. No recent FW updates done either. So I am guessing this feature has always been there, I never noticed it.

Heard it will hit the showroom during the festive season. With Diwali being around mid October this year, news should start flowing in soon.
I am also looking forward to pick up the XUV/Hexa/Compass around that time.

Re: 2015 Mahindra XUV500 Facelift : Official Review

A couple of days ago, I took my vehicle (2015 manufactured W10) for the 30k servicing here in Trivandrum, and they also ended up changing my infotainment box with the one that comes in the May 2017 manufactured models- this one has an in-built WiFi receiver and helps you to browse apps in addition to the Android Auto which I had got updated to a couple of months ago.

The service manager told me they replaced my infotainment box as part of a goodwill measure(they state the box costs north of 50k INR)- I had escalated to their higher authorities as there was a deficiency in their service, albeit I've found the overall service manager thus far to be incredibly responsive. Now guys, you may wish to try your luck

Please see through the pix below to learn more- I'm super-excited to have these:

Awesome that you got it!! Congrats on the lucky strike.
However - I'd be amazed (pun not intended) if indeed its a "goodwill gesture". More believable is that they damaged your original ICE and had no choice but to install an available one to avoid your wrath.

If they "replaced" your original HU, did you get to see the original one?
What about your personal data that may be in it? like phone book etc if it is capable of retaining it from paired devices if allowed?

Nope- I didn't get to see the old HU as you had stated, and gets me thinking

I believe the only 'loss' I may have from this replacement are the GPS coordinates I had saved of my friends places/shops etc. On your point about phonebook, my phone does get connected via Bluetooth the moment I hop on, however I don't reckon they could steal my phone data without the phone. Or can they?

If the phonebook is synced when it was paired (you "allowed" it in the popup in the phone when it asked if it should allow access to phone book from the paired device (ICE)) - then in many systems, the phonebook is actually copied locally . And is visible to future users also.
One of the first things to remember - especially when using rented cars (in the western developed countries especially where the rental cars are highly loaded with features like this) is to disallow accessing the phonebook OR to erase personal data when handing over the car. Otherwise it is available for view to future users. Something I have experienced personally with rented AVIS cars regularly.

There was also news about XUV500 intelli-hybrid model to be launched sometime soon. Anyone got more details on it?

It appears that Mahindra has been developing a new new 2.2-litre petrol engine for its XUV500 SUV.

With the looming increase in GST rates for SUV, do you'll think Mahindra will launch the updated engine soon or wait for the prices to go up and then launch?
The GST council is supposed to meet next month. Hopefully something happens quick!

The local dealer informed me that W10 model is going to be hiked by 1.77L with increase in GST slab !He has one in silver color with black interiors. The one I was looking for. In a dilemma now.
Wait for the 170 bhp or just go for the present model ?

The upcoming one would be more costly. 1.77 L [GST] increase plus new one would cost a further 1.5L [a guesstimate from my end]. Ball is in your court.

Try and get more information on this. Sales guys are likely to project a doomsday scenario to you, to get you to commit early. It's always better to check through a few more sources.

Increase cause of GST is rather well documented and can be verified. The new model price increase is something that is debatable and probably getting inflated. But in my view Mahindra will not do a significant price increase with the engine power increase given that hexa is already there. Should be within 50K. Overall you are surely looking at 2 to 2.5 lac increase. If I were you I would get it now and not wait cause I dont think this price increase is worth it.

Hey Folks, has anyone recently got their XUV headlamps updated to LEDs? I know some of the members have tried HIDs with mixed results. I came across a colleague's i20 Elite with LEDs and it was an easy replacement as per him but his car is with regular reflectors and not projector type. Link below is one of the many kits available in amazon US. Seems to good to be true if it works without issues. On the i20 these kits fit within the existing dust covers and dont require any modification.
