My father is 75 years old, but actively drives, we recently replaced our Honda City with a Kushaq and now he himself is keen to get a German (either Kuhaq or Tiagun). Between, my father and wife the yearly usage is not more than 5k. Any thoughts from this group will help.
Fully automatic Jazz is a gem of a car! No-nonsense, very spacious, and fuss free. Such gems are going to be more and more difficult to find. I would certainly keep it and continue using it if I were you or your father. Make sure you don't compromise on the safety aspects (tyre replacement if/as required, along with adding a TPMS if you don't already have, replacing engine oil, replacing CVT oil, wheel alignment, wheel balancing etc. at specified frequencies). This is most important considering your father's age, so that he continues to have a smooth experience.

Do not worry much about Jazz being discontinued. We knew that Jazz was going to be discontinued, but instead of avoiding, we went ahead and purchased our (brand new) Jazz VX CVT in September 2022. Shortly thereafter it was generally out of stock, before getting officially discontinued on 31st March 2023, but all spares etc. would be available for next 10 years at least, if not 15. Also all mechanics and most FNGs, having serviced the Jazz over decades, have an easy time servicing it. Today my friends and colleagues envy us as they cannot find a very reliable and spacious car such as Jazz, and we are very thankful for having bought it.

The NA petrol engine (as opposed to turbo petrol/GDI engines) with 4-cylinders (as opposed to 3), along with CVT (as opposed to jerky AMTs or unreliable DCTs) shout total comfort, very smooth drive with minimal NVH (thanks to 4-cylinders + extremely well refined engine), and most importantly peace of mind, especially for the elderly drivers like your father as well as lady drivers. There is hardly anything that can go wrong with this car provided we maintain it well.

+1 to this. I too got the 2019 Jazz VX CVT(exclusive edition) over similarly priced & way more popular Baleno/i20 for its reliability, safety(then 4* with stable bodyshell rating), space & smooth engine-gearbox. 5 years & 27k kms later, it runs like a peach. It’s a keeper & hence not selling it anytime soon.

If you are looking to sell, do let me know. I might be interested. My Honda jazz 2017 automatic was totalled by the transporter during my relocation to Delhi. So on the lookout for a similar beater car.

Damn dude! If you’re ok with it, can you let us know the details in a separate thread?

Really sorry to hear this!

  • It’s a honda!
  • Just 43k run.
  • Annual run of not more than 5k.
  • There is a 2nd car at home.
Practically doesn’t make sense to sell and buy something else, but if your father wants to upgrade and has made his mind then YOLO

Options:
  • Kylaq - Satisfies the need of getting a German.
  • Taigun - Why not try something different when you already have Kushaq at home.
  • XUV3X0 - Very capable vehicle and closest in terms of everything to the Germans.
  • Basalt - Its 4 star BNCAP rated, has all the essentials covered and something unique.

As a owner of Jazz CVT....Frankly for your usage the Jazz CVT is good for another 10yrs atleast. It shares a huge list of parts with city and servicing shouldn't be a problem. At his age your Dad needs a no fuss car that will keep on soldiering except for a 1 day visit to service shop in an entire year!!!!

Re: Honda Jazz : Official Review

I totally agree with the merits raised by everyone in this group. Definitely plan to retain the Jazz for considerable time. I have been sharing the pointers with my father and he is surprised to see such a fan base for Jazz

Re: Honda Jazz : Official Review

My tyres are due for replacement. I want to buy Michelin XM2+ in a slightly non stock size of 185/65 R15 as 175/65 R15 is not available from Michelin.

Other potential models include Continental UC6 and Yokohama Earth 1 in either stock size or 185/65 R15.

If anyone has used these tyres in their Jazz, kindly post their experience about their tyre. My car is diesel and can potentially handle the up size.

You cannot go wrong with any of these options. Continental UC6 is recommended for its comfort and reduced road noise. Yokohama Earth-1 offers durability over rough roads. Michelin XM2+ is known for low rolling resistance thus slightly better fuel efficiency.

There are plenty of aftermarket universal armrest options available on platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Boodmo etc. However, I believe the best approach is to visit a reliable accessory shop where you can personally select an armrest that suits your preferred height and color. If you’re still set on purchasing from AliExpress, your only option is to find a friend/ relative who is travelling to India, and get it delivered at their address abroad.

Had bought a KMH armrest in 2018, and it has served the purpose all these years. Not wanting to drill anything, I had purchased one that just fits into the two cubby holes within center console. With a bit of DIY in terms of padding, works quite well indeed.

I had one brought in from Thailand recently. If you have anyone travelling there, you can try that route as well. It is much cheaper, even compared to my previous AliExpress purchase.

Re: Honda Jazz : Official Review

I bought Yokohama Earth 1 in 185/65 R15. Cost was around 6100 including new valves. There is slight reduction in acceleration. Earlier the MID used to show crazy numbers. Now the display seems sensible. Will report the effects of tyre upsize in a few weeks.

Re: Honda Jazz : Official Review

Just scored a 13k run, impeccably maintained 2021 Jazz ZX CVT. Saw the car on Sunday and brought it home on Wednesday and sold our 2018 Swift in-between days. Was browsing through Spinny on a lazy afternoon and came across this Jazz. It immediately pickled my interest and went out to check it in a Spinny hub along with wife. Both of us were really impressed with the car and decided to go for it after proper due diligence.

Got a handsome price for our beloved 2018 Swift MT at Spinny itself and we paid only the difference amount on the day of delivery. I may write a detailed thread on the whole process (pitfalls too) if folks are really interested. But man the car is fantastic, spacious than all the psuedo suv's, CVT is smooth and the Engine is brilliant.
