I bought 2016 model in 2023 from Cars24. I would suggest Spinny as their inspection of vehicles is very thorough compared to Cars24.

Also try to get the one that is in good shape (even cosmetic things) even if it is slightly costly because Honda spare parts are costly compared to Maruti or Hyundai.

Re: Honda Jazz : Official Review

Fellow BHPians, Looking at a used Jazz 2020 Dec model, 2021 registered, CVT, ZX Top end with ODO reading at 40k. Asking price is 8.1L, Is this worth considering?

Saw the service history one Insurance claim done to fix accidental damage, front bumper and ORVM got changed rest all are usual periodic service entries.

Any checks to be done and how to verify the CVT health.

Replacing my second car to a no non-sense hatch, will be used primarily by Wife for school runs and a beater, currently using first gen Figo diesel, crossed 1L mark.

Nothing really goes wrong with the CVT. Just to allay any apprehensions, you could take it to the ASS for a clean chit of health.
It fits your use case to the T but the asking price is ridiculous. I would look at 6.xxL.

Thank you. Yeah 8L is on the higher side. Bangalore used car market is known for being expensive compared to other cities. I see 2017 models with anything around 40k ODO for 6L.

Honda parts are reliable but relatively less available (compared to Maruti and Hyundai) and costly. Following are some of my recent experiences:
1. A 2-wheeler broke my jazz's driver-side mirror and plastic cap. FNGs are uninterested in taking up the work as they said parts procurement will take weeks. So got it done from ASS and it cost me 8k (as usual they replaced the whole set - even working motors). As per FNG guys, there are multiple parts suppliers for Maruti and Hyundai and they could've procured just the required parts i.e. mirror & cap, and that too within a day or two.
2. Wiper blade - ASS said they will only replace the complete set which I remember is around 1k. So I ordered the wiper rubber in the Boodmo and it took almost 40 days to deliver. For my Hyundai car, I used to replace this in 200-300rs including labor at ASS.
3. Window glass motors - ASS quoted 5-6k for each motor including labor. On Boodmo it was 3.5k, so ordered it expecting I could get it done from an FNG. But after 30 days got a message from Boodmo that they can't procure it.
4. Tailgate struts - similar to above. I got it from Boodmo after 20 days.

If I have to pay 8L for a 4-year-old hatchback, I would rather stretch the budget and buy either a
  • New Maruti/Hyundai car for fuss-free ownership and good resale value after 5-6 years.
  • or Electric car (Topend Comet/Tiago or base Punch/Windsor/Nexon) for low running costs and the best automatic experience. Being a second car intended for city purposes, range shouldn't be an issue.

For CVT transmission do check that the transmission oil has been changed every 2 years/40k kms which ever is earlier.

Thanks for sharing your insights, was not aware that parts availability is such a big challenge. Though Ford exited the market, i still get replacement parts quiet easily by ASS.

I TD Comet, not felt confident even for shorter drives especially when bigger vehicles getting pass at high speed, it somehow feels like sitting ON a car not IN the car.
TATA ASS experience is very painful, my neighbor's Nexon (latest facelift) stuck in ASS multiple times just to fix dicky door latch.

New car is a good idea, Hyundai, i think I need to push my budget a lot. FYI 8L itself im not very comfortable to pay.
Maruti products i feel it ages quite bad, owned first gen Alto, Zen, Swift, the urge to change kicks in within 3-4 yrs, compared to Ford/Skoda.

I thought it will be a simple purchase and close, no it doesn't seems to be :-)

So I’m not sure about this new claim.
I currently have a 2014 honda city and I too remember seeing e10 in the vehicle manual. But this link : https://www.hondacarindia.com/press-...ainable-future from honda's official website seems to confirm that the vehicles mfd starting 1 Jan 2009 are indeed e20 compliant. Can anyone with more information on this please confirm if this is valid or not?
