Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I got 14000 for the 4 alloys and 22900 for the five JK tyres.

My new alloys came for 30000 (4 nos) and 5 Michelin Primacy 3PST for 47500 tax paid with bill and warranty.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Thanks Pannag. Sai mag wheels is in Delhi and i live in Mumbai. Would like to actually see the items before checking them out. Went to few dealers in Mumbai and if not buying from them then very poor pricing on originals.

HI All,

I had nearly Zeroed in on the Eco-Sport diesel. Until the S-cross suddenly crept in mind.
I would be going with the 1.3, as its going to be used mostly in City, and driver driven.
How does the performance of the 1.3 compare with the Eco-sport?
Would appreciate some quick thoughts as I was planning to book the ES today

Here are the details:

Which model is yours? 1.3 or 1.6? I am considering one over the Ecosport. Did you compare before buying?. Thanks

Hi, performance would be comparable only. I own a Fiesta that is some 130kg lighter than the ES and hence quicker too. Based on my experience with the multijet VGT engine, I can safely tell you that off the block, the S Cross would be faster than the ES. But then till some 1800 rpm there would be some lag that will end with a healthy power surge. S Cross' is a more rev happy engine and it features 4 valves per cyl too. I would suggest to go with the S Cross, though ES would not be far behind in power and performance dept.

I was in similar dilemma. I had checked out the Ecosport before booking SCross 1.3. Besides what is correctly mentioned above regarding performance, the Ecosport is half a size smaller than Scross. SCross offers much more space and slightly better build quality than Ecosport IMO. Ecosport is like a hatch with high ground clearance however S-Cross is a proper crossover IMHO.

And of course with Maruti Suzuki, service network is the best in the country.

Space yes, but would differ on the build quality. Ecosport I think is much more solidly built than the S-Cross. But of course that does not take anything away from the S-Cross. Given the decision, you had to make, even I would do the same.

Here is my take on the S Cross DDiS200 when compared to ES,

The S Cross's USP is its ride and handling. It does ride more like a European car. The S-cross demolishes the potholes without having to slow down as you would do normally. You do not feel anything in the cabin.
The ride quality at all speeds is just astonishing. Steering weighs up nicely as speed picks up.
Brakes are brilliant and city driving is less stressful.

What is not so good is the Noise levels are a bit high, initial pick up is just average.

I guess this is a True Crossover - in the sense of its overall packaging.

Mine is 1.3 zeta. Although I wanted 1.6 but the pricing was something.

Coming back to contenders, I have considered a lot of cars ftom different segments( Ecosport, rapid, vento, i20 active etc). The most I liked was rapid but had to let it go for obvious reasons. Ecosport is noway inferior to any car in the segment, imfact it's the best considering the compact dimensions. S-cross definitely has better space, ride and handling , usefull features in cruise control, all wheel disc brakes to name a few and of course the best built maruti till now. But Ecosport has it's strengths in looks, gc, facelift has better engine, sturdy built etc. So, don't strike off any one of them just by reading reviews. Pricewise thet are similar and would be good for both city and highways. The key is to take as many back to back test drives and pick the one that strikes your heart and head both.

Good luck with your future ride.

If its always/mostly chauffeur( i guess thats what you meant by driver) driven, then does performance really matter?
S-cross should give you a better ride and more space in the back-seat.

Thanks and well said about the point "Strikes your heart and head both" Thats really the decision point

Yes the car would be mostly Chauffeur driven. But I'll get on the Saddle as often as I can, especially long drives. When I look at performance, I dont look merely at take-off speeds. Overall smoothness and a joyful note to drive is good for me. THinking a little more, I also need to feel a compactness. Dont want it to feel as big as my Altis.

Made all the payment for S Cross 1.3, Zeta variant, white color. Getting auto IRVM from Nexa, quoted a price of Rs 5950/- only. Accessories I got free from the showroom are designer footmat and mud flap.

Where can I get rear bumper guard for the vehicle? In Kolkata it is very difficult to drive vehicle without rear guard. My previous vehicle Vista has been hit multiple times by bikers, cyclists, rickshaws, fortunately it had rear guard!

Other accessories I plan to buy from outside are sil guard, autographix clear shield, seat cover etc.

I am confused whether I should buy side beat or not, it is not available for S cross from showroom.

Congratulations on selecting the S Cross, for the sill guard recommend you get the illuminated Sill guard from Maruti. Looks very cool.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

S cross gives a premium feeling the moment we enter into it. One more major difference when i was evaluating between s cross and Ecosport was that in Ecosport 3 people sit tight on back seat , where as in S cross 3 can sit comfortably without any problem and the leg room is really good.

For Chauffeur driven, s-cross hands down.
For comfortable highway cruise, s-cross has upper hand here.
I think the engine sound is being exaggerated in a bad way although I don't find it intriguing at all. If not in the league of hyundai CRDI, NHV levels are definitely better than honda idtec/skoad rapid and similar to ES if not better.
No doubt it's a big car, but the turning radius, visibility etc makes it almost hatch-like to drive. I graduated from ritz and it took couple of days to adjust to the size of the car. Right now after 6700 km(3 months), I don't really find it difficult at all except the parking space has grown substantially bigger.

The driving experience is so good that, you will gradually replace your Chauffeur with yourself

I am now slightly frustrated by the delay in delivery of my SCross.

The silly fellow who is a Nexa representative for the banks had written Baleno on the bank form and also made a lot of unacceptable mistakes. I have escalated this and also spoke to showroom manager regarding this apathy.

Where is the premium experience Nexa???
