Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I called up my RM. He gave me the latest on-road prices for variants I inquired about.
Zeta 1.3 10.4
Alpha 1.3 11.9
Zeta 1.6 12.88
Alpha 1.6 13.7

Projectors cannot be installed on lower variants.
1.3 alpha silver in stock. Ill try to push for discounts on this or else settle for 1.3 zeta and put some good alloys on.
1.6 not really required I feel. Might switch at the last moment.

Fellow S-Cross owners, how do you maintain the black cladding in your car? It gets dirty so easily and I am finding it tough to maintain it in pristine clean condition. Any inputs?

Tell us about your usage. If its 80% City and 20% Highway, then the 1.3 DDIS makes lot more sense. Else, aim for the 1.6
Completely agree with you. I too feel, if your driving is 80% city, to go with 1.3. There is definitely a lag, when u try to floor the accelerator. You can overcome it by either driving with a light foot or frequent changing of gears. I, was so used to Micra and it was a pleasure to drive within the city. The third gear was sufficient for almost all speeds within the city and the acceleration was linear. 1.6 is okay to drive as long as you don't try to floor the pedal. but, it is definitely fun to floor the pedal. The push you get is addictive. Passengers might find it irritating. My wife felt nauseating when I was flooring the pedal. So it's better to take a proper test drive, before you get one.
I did my first refuel. Mileage I got was 11.4 (calculated by tank full method). MID showed 11.2 (surprising, generally MID's show better mileage). My clinic is just 5 kms from my home. So mine is like start stop driving most of the time, so can't comment on the mileage. Meanwhile, planning a trip to my country (Pondicherry) this weekend. So will get to know regarding fuel efficiency better.
Filled fuel when the fuel low warning showed up. Ended up filling 40 litres. Does s-cross have 8 litres of reserve.

Try 3M - Leather & Vinyl Cleaner/Restorer, it could be of help!

At these price points, you should definitely consider the Alpha variants. Just to give you an idea, the pre-correction OTR prices in Bangalore for the DDiS200 looked like this,

Zeta 1.3 ~ 12.1
Alpha 1.3 ~ 13.9

Agreed, the difference is substantial and the 1.3 Zeta is absolutely VFM, but at under 12 lakhs OTR, the 1.3 Alpha is a fantastic buy.

OTOH, if you do decide to buy the 1.6, do not look below the Alpha!

Just my 2 paise.

Are these discounted prices or regular on-road prices? In Bangalore I had to pay 1 lakh more for the 1.6 Alpha and the 2016 model is ~1.5 lakhs more expensive. Even the 1.3 Alpha is 1.2 lakhs more expensive here than what you have quoted.

Even though Zeta is the most VFM model seeing the prices, Alpha will not make you regret. Auto wipers and headlamps might not be really useful, but I think the leather seating, projector headlamps, ACC and Auto dimming IRVM are real good and cool features to have

I am traveling for the next 3-4 months and will not be using my s cross in the meantime. I am the sole user of the car in my household. I will ask a friend to start the car every week for 5 minutes. Is there anything else that I can do to ensure the car continues to be in good condition? Please let me know, thanks

1.6 Alpha / Zeta/ Delta comes with an unmatchable feature compared to 1.3 - THE 1.6 .

With 400+ kms on odo (all these kms are either in ORR or Marathahalli to Rajarajeshwari Nagar during peak traffic hours), I can confidently say that one can get adjusted to the turbo lag of 1.6 in 100-200 kms. It bothers a bit initially but not after getting acclimatized to the car.

Turbo lag is more of psychological in 1.6. It is because of the strong turbo kick and good power post 2000 rpm, we get a feel of increased lag compared to 1.3 .Yes, there is lag. But it is not a deterring factor to buy. 1.6 is a torque monster on roads.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Encountered a strange issue today. My fuel meter was almost on the second last bar and I checked the distance to empty, it showed 53 kms. After driving for around 12 kms, the low fuel lamp got activated. Not sure why this difference. Have any of you encountered this?
