OK. So, there is a potential risk. If someone opened the bonnet, did not close it properly and then immediately start the car and drive off, the car will be running with an unlocked bonnet lid.

The lid will not get open up while driving because there is a safety latch which we have to release manually to open the lid up.

As you said, the lid won't open on it's own while driving. The potential risk is anybody else could open the bonnet. And yes, that is the reason for 3 chirps when you lock the car

Lovely pic

I am waiting for you to write down ownership review of your Code 6 tuned 1.6 S-Cross . As per the videos I had come across in what's app, the acceleration of Code 6 S-Cross is better than mine with TOT remap.

Facts which substantiate my claim are:

1. Engine number of 1.6 DDIS is MGP
Attachment 1625197

2. Earlier, air filters were imported from Romania(SGP), whereas the current part manual shows MGP number.

Older air filter(notice the missing M, which means SGP)

Newer air filter part number

Guys, what do you think?? Has Maruti finally answered our prayers??

As Naren has already pointed out, Not quite Shashi

This is a simple data entry issue where they have maintained 2 part numbers for the same part. The pricing is also same for the duplicate parts. I can say this for sure based on my experience while my car was going through the repair. The initial estimate / quotation given by Bimal Maruti would have the part numbers with M in between (MGP), while the actual invoice will have part numbers without M in between (SGP). As you have pointed out, the parts manual has part numbers with M - and while making the quotation, they use part numbers from the manual and hence estimate has M. While actual invoicing is done, the scan the bar code on the pack which will not have M in the part number. Now, since both part numbers are maintained in the system, there is no error and since the pricing is also the same, there is no discrepancy. Hope this helps clear the confusion.

This is my understanding - The indication in MID is only for the centrally locked doors which includes the 4 doors and the hatch. Since bonnet is not included in central lock, the warning is not displayed in MID. So, as you said, it is very much possible to drive around with the bonnet open. However, unless in case of an accident, I do not see any chance of the heavy bonnet opening while driving. However, after parking, there is a high chance of someone opening the bonnet and stealing the battery. However, as Naren pointed out, if there is 3 chimes instead of 1, we can easily identify that the bonnet is open.

Yes, it's a minor mistake by Maruti. All the engine related components are listed as MGP in parts catalogue now. Not to forget, even air filter is listed under engine parts category.

Also, Maruti has not imported any new batch of 1.6 engines since last 4 months. Looking at this team bhp thread, we will think that there are many guys getting 1.6 . But on roads, you won't find many. A Nexa dealer whom I know has sold 3-0-1-2 units of 1.6 S-Cross in last 4 months.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Hello to all S Cross aficionados.

I thought I should share with you a small problem I faced with my car and the solution I found for the same. I hope it will help others facing the same issue.

Rapid deterioration of the Drivers Foot Mat.

Despite our cars having a double layered foot-mat, I noticed that my mat started fraying very rapidly, and within about 8 months, the upper mat had become threadbare, making the car interior look very old and tacky.

After some research, I found that the best solution is to use Artificial Rubber Anti Vibration Pads, typically used in the Air Conditioning industry. There is a soft rubber (light duty) pad of size 150 x 150 x 8 mm which is just perfect.

The old upper mat can be easily removed as it is just stitched on to the main mat, and leaves no marks or scars when removed. In its place, two AV Pads placed abreast and hand stitched by a skilled shoemaker were just what the doctor ordered!

I used a ribbed and edge banded pad, and used a cutter to create an edge notch for the stitch, which was very skillfully put in with a black thread, evenly spaced. Thus, on completion, I was proud of the interiors of my car again.

I hope others facing a similar problem will find this useful.

Will strongly agree; for the first 1.5 days during the first 961 Km, the FE I got was 21.X Kmpl. Post the inspection/1st service, the FE has dropped to 16.2 Kmpl. Also my app shows overall FE of 14.4 Kmpl

I assume I'll have to reset the FE in MID for every long trip or after every full tank or every run & not keep the statistic to accumulate.

What is that most owners follow here?

Maruti S-Cross : Official Review-20170403_173531__1491222562_116.68.123.175.jpg

Tires are wearing out a bit unevenly. Same for all 4 tires, though 4 tires are rotated at every 5K KM from MASS. We usually do all the alignment and balancing works outside of MASS but non of the alignment guys in my home town have the data for S-Cross.

This is Odd. I expected the JK's to last longer. I have Pirellis and have done 28K now and there is way more tread depth than what you have. Do you drive a lot in very bad roads? My car is primarily driven in city roads and highways

We don't drive much through bad roads. 40% of our runs are though ghat roads. And our driving style is slightly on the aggressive side. But no burn outs though

Ghat roads? From MVPA via MC road towards Ettumanur/Kottayam? Ah!! Forgot the roads are under construction. Is that the reason?

PS - Next time I'm in MVPA, I'll catch up with you on my Brownie
