I have seen 3 or 4 old S-Cross getting converted into new. This car is old Alpha and has now been converted to new Alpha :D. Note that the blue colour is different in old S-Cross. If you are going with top model led projector headlights, the cost would be around 95K. If lower model headlights are used, the cost is around 65K. It would take around 2 days to do this conversion after sourcing all the parts.

A question to all those using projectors in fog lamp position. The projector is directly exposed at the front of the car. Do you face any chipping due to stones or fogging in rains?


I am desperately looking for upgrading my lights but its a tough decision. I am currently in favor of auxiliary lamps, but I prefer to keep the stock look. Totally confused at this moment.

I have not noticed any damages because of stone chippings yet. But there are few cases where the lens had minor cracks due to stone hits.

I am not in favor of opening up the headlamp so I am to decide either for projectors in fog or for auxiliary lamps. While both should work fine for lighting up the road ahead, I am totally confused. I am listing below the Pros for each type. Can you throw some light here? (pun intended).

Pros for Projectors in Fog:

• Possibility of Low and High beam
• OEM Look. No harassment by RTO.
• Wont attract theft.

Pros for Auxiliary:

• Possibly cheaper.
• Easier to install.
• Point of installation is higher. Focusing should be easier and correct.

I would prefer installing projectors in fog lamp position, but the only reason I cant decide is that since it is installed so low, you have to adjust the setting to a particular position. If the low beam is ok, the high beam is in shooting the sky.

Which one would you have decided if you were in my shoes?

Yes, these projectors are designed to work in place of fog lamps which is always at lower position. I too agree that high beam is not very practical. It doesn't illuminate the road much. Trees and electric poles can be clearly seen haha. Nothing much can be done here. You have to align it much lower to get more light on road in high beam, but then you will lose low beam illumination.

S-Cross Alpha :

1. Change the bulbs with Morimoto D5S. It is expensive. But it is fully plug and play. No need to open the headlights. There is almost double light compared to OE Philips D5S 25W bulb.

2. Bi Xenon Fog Projectors : These are basically IPHCAR / Sinolyn brand projectors. It's available in Aliexpress and landing cost is around Rs. 6500. Few of my friends have already bought Sinolyn fog hid projectors from Ali express and very happy with the results. It was in fact little better than what Xenon Planet sells at double price. I will post the output shot of Sinolyn fog projector. BHPian GSMINC had sent me this picture. The output is clean and superb VFM at just Rs. 6500.


3. Opening Headlights and installation of Mini D2S 4.0 : This is the most difficult option, but best output guaranteed. Bhpian Sudeepg has explained this project in detail :).

S-Cross Zeta / Delta / Sigma

1. 100/90 bulbs with relay and ceramic bulb holder (~1500 Rs)

2. Bixenon Fog Projectors (Sinolyn)

3. Projector retrofit

Advice Needed :

I have a 1.6 S-Cross and have made a few cosmetic changes to it. But it's face still is quite boring and the headlights seem to be out of proportion. I've been thinking about painting the black fiber trims to the body-color.

This is the current setup










Recently came across the face-lifted version, painted exactly how I want it to be done. IMO the car looks much bigger and classier with painted trims.








Okay, so the new one looks good from the side, front and decent from the back. The question is, would my car, with the boring face, look equally good? My cousin PS'd my car. What do you guys think? I'm also thinking smoked headlights too, along with the white inserts.

Hi, IMHO the modified face-lift S-Cross that you have posted looks overdone.

Please get the below done on your steed.

a) Smoked Headlights/Taillights
b) Piano Black ORVM
c) Piano Black Roof Wrap
d) Roof Bicycle Carrier
e) Painted Brake Calipers

I quite like the current set up - the car looks menacing to say the least.

I fear painting the trims may just make the car look too bulky from the front and rear where the black sort of helps it look that much slimmer.

What about other options like smoking the headlights and tail lights (only the chrome trim inside, not the actual glass - Kinda like the Rapid Black edition), along with the roof, mirrors, and spoiler?

I had considered painting the headlight assembly to black. But I’m not exactly sure whether they’d look good in flesh, on a white car. On a darker shade, it would have blended in perfectly. The headlights are awfully big. Still confused whether to go for it.

Trying the get the euro spec spoiler. It’s smaller than the ones available in the ainsian market.

Roof and mirrors? I’m not sure. Black mirrors and then white support stalks would look out of place, IMO. I’d have painted them otherwise. Not a fan of black roof :P

EDIT: So, I am looking at about Rs. 5000 for the Projectors + Rs. 11,000 for the kit. Totally about 16,000 for the parts.

No it should not be so expensive. My friend has got full kit from a seller in Ali express. It costed him less than 7K. I have posted the details here.

Is it possible for the pre-facelift Sigma/Delta variant to be fitted with the LED headlamps from the new Alpha variant?

Yes, it should be possible. The wiring might not be plug and play, would require some minor work / jugaad.

What about EGR cleaning? Did they bill you separately for EGR cleaning or was it included in 30k KM labour charges?
