It's much better than the Swift for sure! The S-cross 1.6 is reasonably refined but if you're coming from the Ecosport you always know it's a diesel under the hood.

Incase of Ecosport anyone who is not an out and out car guy was shocked when I told them they were sitting in a diesel car.

The better performance, 6 speed box and larger size are in favour for the S-cross but they are not big enough reasons to jump. The car has a lot of maruti traits. The Ecosport has a lot of cool and small features which you will realise are missing when you get in the S-cross.

I am holding on to the Ecosport for atleast another 2 years as cars like this are disappearing fast. The new age cars are lighter, more cost cutting and don't feel as well built.
Interesting points.

Even I can't understand why they can't have given 6 Airbags in a vehicle costing 17 lakhs.
I do agree that the "gauge" of metal that is being used these days is lighter than earlier - in the interests of Fuel Efficiency and so on.
I think I would also do what you are doing and in some sense will emulate you by hanging on to my 48 month old Yeti instead of mindlessly upgrading to something newer or more trendy.

Is there a specific reason or is it to keep the cost down on the 1.6. Quite surprising actually.

The dealer has thrown in an attractive package. 1.6 delta plus a combo worth about 20k. Combo includes 4 oe alloys, after market nav, after market reverse camera, oe fog lamps.
In addition is the cash discount of 50 k.

If not for the lack of rear wash and wipe, I would have been really keen on this offer.
The Delta in 1.3 has pathetic speakers, Dont know if it is the same in the 1.6 or not. Suzuki has huge confusion in what is there in the same version in 1.3 and 1.6. For example the delta 1.6 has height adjustable driver seat but the delta 1.3 doesn't. Check the actual version car with the engine you want.

The dealers and the company seems to be giving much higher discounts on the delta versions, but the after market stuff just didn't work for me, occupying the 12 V socket and having a wire run up to the NAV was just plain stupid. I am sure you will be able to get better stuff if you go for the upgrades on your own. The deal is still good just for the alloys, but who wants those alloys? You might as well again buy better ones from outside. Take the Delta for the discount, if you are happy with what is available in that version.
I think, if you get the fully functional basic car (airbags / four discs / ABS / Hgt adjustable seat belts) at a lesser cost, seems a very good deal to me. Not like other manufacturers (including maruti for non-nexa products) who pawn these basics for money.

IMO, no. You will lose just too much in depreciation. Check out this thread:

But i'm surprised. The S-cross has very good clearance and has a underbody plate of plastic. To damage the sump is not an easy feat like a honda city or Verna.

How did you manage to hit the sump? Can you give details on where and how it happened.
It was on a narrow road in whitefield area with potholes on both sides leaving a hump in the middle. All filled with water. Speed was quite low ~10-15kmph.
The plastic guard ends in front of the exposed sump which seems to protude half an inch in case of the 1.6. I had noticed this before buying of course.
Thing is its not the GC number that matters but what ensues when you breach the GC once in a way. My 2004 Bolero would need an occasional re-welding of the muffler. Fusion, Alto - Nothing.

Hi ChaudharySaab, The alloys and the car colour both look FAB!
Did you change the size?
Please share some details ($$) and where did you get them from?
I want to get alloys and tyre change too.
Was inclined towards filling the Arch a bit more with one size up.

Also had some ideas on vinyle work, see attached the photoshop progress:

Total Cost of Pirelli P7: 8600*4 = 34400
Total Cost of Alloys: 23000
Buy Back for Tyres: 16000
Buy Back of Old Alloys: 13000
Cost for Red Paint:400

Effective Cost: (After some negotiation) 27000/-

I changed the tyres width to 215 with no change in Size.

Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

How is the headlight on the s cross? Can any of the current owners opine on the hid and the halogens in their respective cars. Is there a need for a bulb upgrade?

What is the real world fuel efficiency of the 1.6?

Honest opinion on the vinyl work - please don't get it done.

This is too loud, at least for my liking.
