Making 1.6 in India. Thanks for making me laugh after a rough day.

I seriously doubt this buddy. Maruti would have definitely announced it through press release if they started production of 1.6 in India.

My bad, either he said wrong or I heard him wrong

My first TD was on 1.6 variant during the ride I precisely asked him this 1.6 is imported right? For which he said, No and told its locally done now. May be he overheard me for the car or the engine.

Anyways tomorrow will be visiting Nexa for PDI, will check thih with him again.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Hi Team,

Was away for sometime due to professional engagements but never missed the discussions on the thread. A lot of our members are going for Scross 1.6 which is a real monster of a vehicle. I have a small news, would join the Scross club but Silver 1.3 Zeta.
Decision based on my usage and obviously Vitamin M.

Need help from members based out of Bangalore. I am looking to upgrade the rubber for my car to something better than stock JK. Need suggestions. Tried reaching out to Sai Iyenger & Madhus since I stay near Bannerghatta road but dissapointed with the buy back values. Sai Iyengar is not doing a buy back of JK and Madhus offered me INR 3200. Any pointers will be very helpful as I am planning to take the delivery on Sunday May 08, 2016.

Thanks in advance

Sandy,
Since you already know the code6 guys and also considering to take a financial hit by selling the Scross 1.3.
Please drive the Code6 Creta once.

Hope Maruti starts manufacturing this engine- plonks this into Gypsy- upgrades Gypsy interiors etc, makes it more "practical"like the current Thar. It will give all other products of that class a run for the money

Had a PDI of my 1.6 Alpha today. Check on 1.6 production and future of the same. below are the updates from Nexa RM.

- 1.6 engine is not manufactured locally as posted my me before.
- All 1.6 engines are still being imported and the process has not stopped.
- Maruti has plan to produce 1.6 locally by 2017.
- All the upcoming Maruti SUVs will have 1.6 engine integrated as an option. Hopefully we see 1.6 has some future here

About variants and current production status.

-1.6 Zeta production is discontinued as it misses out on some features compare to 1.3 zeta, also those who plan for 1.6 zeta can stretch to 1.6 Alpha with the current discounts available.

-1.6 Delta is still in production but waiting period is too long.

-In 1.3 variants zeta is the most produced as its VFM.

Finally off late 1.6 S-cross sales has increased and people are ready to stretch more to get this gem of a engine.

Sure. I ll be going through the whole process again...
Will be Tding the
1. 1.6 S Cross and remapped 1.3 back to back
2. Creta 1.6 and 1.6 automatic (if available)
3. Jetta MT / AT if available
4. Used BMW 320d E & F
5. Cruze
6. Duster 110ps AMT and AWD

If any of the above cars feel more thrilling than a 1.6, the decision to sell the car will be put on hold. Will wait for 2 more years and reassess options. In case any one of the above pulls the heartstrings, will sell the 1.3 and go ahead.

It is the 1.5L M-series engine (a smaller version of the 1.6L M-series came in the old sx4). This is a new engine for Maruti, but not for Suzuki. It is already in use by many Suzuki models internationally.

Wikipedia has these details:

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

I hope it is the 1.4 L booster jet engine. They currently have this on the vitara S and it said to be much better than the older 1.5 with more power and better mileage.
