Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer the 1.0L boosterjet variant of the S Cross after the relaese of the face-lift as phase 2. A CVT offer is also in the plan.

Quote:
Maruti will continue to sell the S-cross in India with the same 1.3- and 1.6-litre diesel engines, but once the facelift is here, the updated 111hp(?) Boosterjet engine is also likely to join the line-up. There’s likely to be a CVT automatic in the mix as well.

2. 1.6 DDIS has lesser CO2 emissions than 1.0 booster jet and 1.4 booster jet engines. Who said bigger diesel engines are always more polluting?

3. 0-62 mph (UK) :

1.6 DDIS : 12 sec
1.0 Booster jet : 11 sec
1.4 Booster jet : 10.2 sec

Interesting that the 1.0 Booster Jet still manages to give a respectable 11.0 sec 0 -100 kmph time in the S-Cross which is over 200kgs heavier than the Baleno.

Drive on,

As per Suzuki UK Baleno brochure, Even Baleno 1.0 booster jet does 0-100 in 11 seconds. Power output is same in both S-Cross and Baleno. But the final gear ratio is different.

Diesels are usually better only in CO2 emissions ! Not to mention the other real bad parts in exhaust.

Is there any resource that gives out in gear acceleration timings for these cars? That is where the real story lies.

Drive on,
Shibu.

Agree that AWD & 4WD might not have takers here. My wish was for them to only bring the frontal facelift here - to make this car look more butch & thus appeal to a wider audience, who today reject it because the front looks too tame.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Question to owners: Does the 1.3 Zeta variant (that does not get auto-dimming IRVMs) get at least manual or mechanical day-night IRVM, or is it the basic one without night setting lever/switch?

In case it doesn't come with manual day-night IRVM, is it possible to get either an auto-dimming or regular day/night IRVM fitted as an accessory?

The 1.3 Zeta comes with a manual/mechanical IRVM.

It is also possible to get the auto-dimming IRVM as an accessory. The cost is 13K (approximately), if I recall.

Could you please attach a photo of the switch? I never found it in mine and always thought it is a basic one.

I was quoted Rs. 7k for the same at a Maruti dealership.

IIRC it costs Rs 6990 when I saw it at NEXA recently.

13K is too much.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Had a freak accident on my S-Cross yesterday. I'm on a vacation visit in Kerala. Had parked the vehicle on the road side. While parking I had noticed a tree stump in the front (1-1.5m ahead). Returned to the vehicle after around 3 hrs and got inside.

While seated, this stump was not visible and the front side was pretty clean. Without realising took the vehicle forward and in this process the radiator / Intercooler / AC condenser got damaged. The engine coolant drained out in a couple of minutes. It was not possible to drive as the coolant was drained out in a few minutes.

Called for a flatbed recovery vehicle and took the car to BRD Karupadanna Service centre (Near Irinjalakuda). All the 3 items needs replacement. Expected to get the car back on 26th April.

Will update later about the details.

Unable to find a pic from office network but if you have owned any Maruti vehicle earlier like Wagon R or Swift Vxi or lower, you should be aware of the little plastic thingy at the center of the IRVM which you can push and pull to enable day-night mode. In fact it is common across manufacturers so you would have surely encountered this on one or the other car without auto dimming IRVM.

It's right on top of your IRVM. The swift has it below the IRVM, it is basically a tilt function. You can achieve the same result by manually tilting the mirror vertically up/down. Using this push switch is the most inconvenient, it should have been present on the bottom as usual.
