I just found these power torque graphs of DDIS 320 and DDIS 200 from Maruti Suzuki. It gives an idea about power delivery.

The peak torque is not held for longer in DDIS 320. Yes, there is 120 NM more peak torque.. But it would have been lot more fun if this was held for longer

But then it makes up for it in the gearing. That should make a huge difference if I understand things right.

Yes, gearing also plays an important role. S-Cross 1.6 has good performance, but 0-100 timing at 11.5 seconds for a 1275 Kg car with 320NM torque is little slow

Holding the peak torque for longer would have totally transformed this engine in terms of driveability. Anyways, I am planning to try tune the car on dyno and make sure to hold the peak torque for longer

Gear ratios cannot help much if you're looking at it in terms of drivability. Peak torque engines come with associated turbo lag and as Dr.Naren says, a flatter torque curve greatly aids drivability. No two ways about it.

Of course! A flatter torque curve is always preferred especially in city driving. The S-cross comes with a 6 speed gear box which means it keeps you right in the power band at higher speeds and therefore overtaking should also be an easy task since the engine is within the RPM range where max torque is produced.

Be it any gear, if you are above 2000 RPM, just push your right foot and enjoy

But, just imagine if the peak torque was held was longer (flat curve), how much more fun it would have been along with better driveability! The sudden and strong turbo kick makes people say that 1.6 S-Cross is very much fun. Well, for me S-Cross 1.6 would satisfy the butt dyno and if we look at real dyno graphs, there is more potential.

I recently got to drive a friend's Ignis and got a chance to play with Android Auto. Is there any confirmation of Android Auto arriving via update on the S-Cross? As far as I believe, the units used in S-Cross, Baleno, Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza & Ignis are all the same model running different software versions. Correct me if I'm wrong!!

PS: No pictures as I didn't have a 2nd device. The Android Auto is amazing. MirrorLink is absolute trash in comparison.
