Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Thanks to my friend, Ashutosh Mohanty for sharing this information about his S-Cross 1.6!

The owner had noticed CEL while driving. He also noticed that turbo was not working as usual. It would spool very late and there was power loss. The car was taken to service centre and on diagnostic scan the DTC was P2563. Maruti guys found signs of rat attack and one cap on EGR system was missing. Service centre did some jugaad and fixed it for now. The car is doing fine.

Thanks to my friend Sheikh Ershad for sharing the clutch replacement bill under warranty!

I have driven many 2015 make S-Cross 1.6 and all had very hard clutch if compared to 2016 and 2017 models. I asked my friends with 2015 S-Cross to complain about it and try their luck regarding warranty replacement. Few guys have already got it replaced under warranty and some are still waiting for the parts. All you need to do is complain about hard clutch and get 2016 or 2017 S-Cross 1.6 for comparison. The owners have found good difference after changing the entire clutch. But it is still not as good as 2016 or 2017. Only one owner had luckily got full clutch and even flywheel replaced under warranty and that has huge difference.

I believe this information would be very helpful for S-Cross 1.6 2015 make owners

S-Cross Alpha : Plug & Play Bulb Upgrade

We all know that many S-Cross Alpha owners are not satisfied with the output from stock projector setup. Morimoto has come up with plug and play HID bulb upgrade. This is direct fit and in this case, there was 89 percent more output in lumens . This is quite expensive (350 USD), but the easiest and safest upgrade.

The beeps are actually 3.
It seems the boot door switch issue. If I close the boot door with extra force, the car opens/close properly. But, the 3 beeps comes back after few hours. Need to check the door switch of the boot door.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Dear Guys,

I am having problems with gear shifting in my S-Cross 1.3 Zeta (Feb 2016 purchase). I notice that it is becoming difficult to shift gears smoothly while driving. This is true for 1, 2 and 3 gears ONLY. Shifting back and forth between them is troublesome. Shifting between 4,5 works perfectly fine.

The issues:-
1. While shifting gears, the movement of the gear stick is not smooth. Sometimes it feels like the gear stick is having some abrasion, its like it is scrapping onto something while I am shifting from one gear to another.

2. Lately, shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear is become VERY DIFFICULT some times. The gear stick gets stuck in between and then I have to apply some force and get it to move and slot into 3rd gear. This is particularly true in the situation where I accelerate and pick up speed (After slowing down because of traffic or maybe a speed breaker) and attempt to shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear.

NOTE: I do not have any issues if I try to shift gears when car is at standstill (not running) or even when I try to shift into 1st when I have stopped the car at a signal. Of course, I still feel that gear stick abrasion mentioned as issue 1.

Vehicle History
I have been having intermittent issues with gear shifting maybe for the past 10 months or so. But it was not bothering me much. Since the past month or so, it has become very bad. When I mentioned gear shifting issues to the service centre, they did 'clutch bleeding'. This was done on 2 occasions (8 months apart), but did not result in any improvement. The issue starts recurring after 2-3 days.

Any ideas what might be the issue?

Firstly, find another (more competent) service centre. I don't think the issues you are having warrants clutch fluid bleeding/replacing.
The problem could be with the shifter linkages/cables and/or bushes. An easy enough fix.

I believe it's lower gear synchroniser. This is a very common issue in Suzuki 90 hp 1.3 DDIS. Too early to happen in your car though. When the car is under warranty : They replace lower gear synchroniser along with clutch free of cost.

Be a little careful about parking right under coconut trees. A falling coconut can make a ton of damage to that beautiful car

Odometer Crossed 50k on Friday

Will be taking my car to MASS this week for the service and fixing a big dent on the rear right door and a small one on the front right door. Estimated cost given by MASS is 3.5k which includes denting and painting, they will also do the touch up on all scratches on the car. Not claiming insurance.

Also need to get the headlights aligned and the rear skid plates fixed, a Altis crashed at slow speed from behind dislodging the screw holding the skid plates.

Went to Firozabad via Yamuna Expressway on Saturday, approximately 450 kms round trip from home. Overall FE was 21.5 kmpl, average speed was 110-120kmph.

Congratulations on the 50K. Wish you many more happy miles.

I can see you are still on JK Elanzo. How are the tyres after 50K run?.

I have completed 43K and the tyres are as good as new. Minimum another 50K left for the tyres.

I have the JK Elanzos and I have done about 36K on them. These tires are holding up like new. I want these tires to go bald faster as I do not like them.

My friends 1.3 zeta has JK Elanzos. But his WA/WB schedule is questionable. One of the tires lost tons of tread from the inner edge and wires started to show. He swapped them out for his spare tire. His car run about 49K kms.
