I am planning on upgrading the headlights for my Scross too but getting cold feet considering warranty and insurance issues. Can you please check with your MS dealer whether this upgrade to 90/100 has no effect on the warranty? Also, if there is any electrical problem unrelated to this headlight upgrade, can this upgrade be cited as an excuse by the insurance company to deny any insurance claim?

Our Ritz ran with 100/90 setup for nearly 8 years without any warranty issue. Infact once after an accident, the workshop people repaired the broken wires of relay. My Wagon R is running with same setup since last 7 years. I had put the relay and wiring harness of Hella a couple of months after taking the car. No issues as such.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Dear mates,

Reporting an Accident happened in Feb-2019 of my S-cross Zeta Grey purchased in Aug-2018, bit late but just came to know from my parents. I live outside India and went back home to India last week.

Came to know that my parents were travelling. My father was driving (I am assuming 60-70 kmph at the time of accident). A truck was going parallel on the right side. While trying to overtake either by mistake or to avoid something coming from divider, the truck came to left and rammed the Rear Under Run Bar on both doors (Exactly at B Pillar). It seemed the Bar was bit wider than the truck width.

As told by my father it was a very big sound when the truck collided. They stopped obviously. Surprisingly the dents were not that big and doors were working fine. The truck did not stop and ran away.

Anyways to conclude, the car did not loose the track even after the collision (Left side below the road were pilgrims walking !), damage was not that big and most importantly NO injuries !

Good observation from the incident:
The car proved to be structurally strong and safe.

Sad part:
Father was thinking whole night about the incident and could not sleep.
The new car needed to be re-painted.

I'd say it's safe to go ahead and upgrade. It's a 10-minute job you can do yourself; with a relay in place I can't imagine any electrical problems arising. If you're concerned about warranty you can just remove the relay before taking your car for service and/or put the stock bulbs back if the car is gonna stay there for repairs for a longer time.

Hi Sip, can you elaborate a bit more on your experience after tyre upgrade. Positives & negatives as compared to stock size viz. effect on pickup, handling, ride quality, performance on full load.
I'm contemplating the same upsize on my 1.6 s cross.

Michelin 215/60 R16 / Heavy Load, is really a sturdy tyre. My 2015 make car has alloy width of 6J, and this sized tyre required minimum width of 6.5J. Notwithstanding, there has not been any problems due to this for more than 25k kms usage. And about 60-70% of thread is left. It seems tyre can handle more load easily than the manufacturer/ car structure permits. Of course I was not aware of this technical incompatibility during the time i changed tyres. Road grip was prime objective for tyre change.

Grip levels are definitely up. During hard braking it is apparent. I have also taken it to hills and car felt really planted. Slight ground clearance is also up due to upsize vis-a-vis stock tyres.

First thing I noticed was that the good steering feel of stock sized tyres was gone! FE also reduced about 1-2km/ltr. Body roll slightly up but still within comfortable levels. I Feel stock sized tyres behaves better during high speed braking (sans a bit of jittering). Assuming adequate grip levels with any reputed brand stock size tyre. Paid higher price of 1500/- per tyre compared to 205/60 R16 (stock size of same brand).

Effect on speed pickup is not discernible but technically more grip should be against it.

Considering all aspects when I change tyres next, I would like to pick stock spec tyres

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Thanks a lot. Any idea whether this is compatible with 1.3 zeta (old version) ? Amazon says it is not compatible but I trust team-bhp opinion more than that of Amazon

It's a normal H4 bulb (low/high) 55/60w and it will perfectly fit 1.3 Zeta old version S-Cross.

Re: Maruti S-Cross : Official Review

Interesting Fact

The front brake pads of S-Cross ( India ) matches with Nissan 350Z (Non Brembo System ). The shape and dimensions are exactly same , so it's a direct fit .

Using this information, there are lot of performance brake pads options. EBC pads like Yellowstuff, Redstuff, track spec Bluestuff for 350Z are direct fit for S-Cross. Planning to get yellowstuff soon.

As per my analysis,

S-Cross ( India ) , SX4 ( Japan ) , SX4 ( India ) and Nissan 350Z have front brake pads of same shape and dimensions.

So I bit the bullet and installed Osram Night Breaker laser h4 60/55 in my 1.3 zeta (old version) yesterday. The improvement over my philips nightvision lamps is marginal yet noticable. Only issue is with the life expectancy of these lamp which ,as per the package, is half of a stock lamp.

Did Delhi-Shimla-Mashobra-Kufri-Chail-Delhi over the weekend. This was first time in the hills with contis and they have turned out to be so much better than the crappy JKs.
