Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

I think that the Art Edition is the worst paint job I have ever seen on a car. Looks absolutely hideous.

ART

God bless people who will understand this art. A pig, a boy and a girl on scooty - how does it depict Indian Culture, Technology and Innovativeness. Maybe someone can help me understand the fine design

Shombit Sengupta who's a French artist of Indian origin has had his artistic hands on the Renault Kwid. The Kwid Art car was inaugurated by Yves Perrin, Consul General of France in Mumbai at ICIA Gallery, Kala Ghoda.

The art car will be sent to Barbizon, France (10 to 27 December 2016) which has a long history with Modern Art. The car will be then be showcased at various art shows and international auto shows after which it will finally have its spot in the Renault Heritage Museum in France.

Ever since Shombit Sengupta left India for Paris in 1973 at age 19, he has not painted any subject pertaining to India. But since the beginning of this 2016 he re-started painting on the India he had spent his childhood in, which is Bengal.

The Kwid art car vividly reflects his French inspiration, Indian colours through 'Ville Enigmatique' where he has juxtaposed historical French Bengal and Victorian Bengal with traditional Bengali life that continues till today.

What happened to this recall? My Kwid was never recalled for this. Not sure if these changes will be done in my next scheduled service.

@wadewilson - Has the stalling issue recurred after the ECU upgrade. Planning to drop my Kwid to the service center exclusively for this update if it solves the stalling permanently. I also plan to enquire about the recalls and see if they will fit those too

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

About the recall, i took mine to Renault Calicut yesterday. The following parts were replaced:

1. Entire fuel tank
2. Fuel tank cap
3. A couple of fuel hoses
4. A fuel line clip inside engine bay.

The old design clip was prone to breakage and could rupture fuel lines. Mine was missing. There's no fuel pump issue or replacement involved in this recall. Fuel tank design has been updated to address whatever fuel issues some users faced. I never faced any.

A month ago, the top glovebox lock gave up. Even babying it didn't help it last. Informed the same to SA and the entire glovebox was replaced. The new glovebox lock is of a different design so hope that would fix this issue permanently. LH window winder was loose which too got fixed. The shop floor wasn't very crowded so got the car back in 3 hours against an estimate of 6. I'd highly recommend this dealership as of now.

Thanks Sandy! Were you asked to bring the car in for the replacements or did you initiate this yourself?

Ofcourse it was in response to the memo. If qualified, you'll get it by courier.

Renault Kwid crosses 1 lakh sales in India

Renault-India's A-segment bestseller, the Kwid, has crossed the 1 lakh sales milestone in it's Indian innings.

This was achieved in 14 months since the Kwid was launched, after which it has been able to garner excellent numbers month-on-month, going up against segment bestsellers such as the Maruti-Suzuki Alto and the Hyundai Eon.

The Kwid, with it's crossover stance and bold, aggressive look coupled with spacious interiors and a thoroughly contemporary digital dashboard, has single-handedly put Renault-India back into the profit-making books.

Renault India has also promised that there will be a new variant of the Kwid introduced every year, which will help keep the Kwid firmly in the limelight while offering something new to the customers throughout it's sales innings.

Powered by a set of 0.8L & 1.0L engines, the Kwid was also launched in it's Easy-R AMT avatar recently, which sports an unique rotary dial gearshift on the dashboard.

Re: Renault Kwid crosses 1 lakh sales in India

Awesome news for Renault!

This shows Maruti can be challenged, and how!

Kwid has been attracting customers across many segments. I for one, bought kwid 1.0 when searching for a new 7 seater SUV lol. A friend of mine booked a petrol baleno delta, and switched to kwid once the Easy R was launched.

Kwid's success formula is simple. Provide great fuel efficiency at the same price as the market leader, go a step further and make the car look segment-best, and another step forward by providing most spacious cabin in the segment and to nail it, provide features that even cars from 2 segments above don't provide.

Way to go Kwid!

Re: Renault Kwid crosses 1 lakh sales in India

Kwid is a very good overall product in that segment. Renault has got the styling and pricing spot on. I have 800 CC Renault Kwid in my garage. Dealer had agreed to replace my fuel pump under warranty and then there was recall by Renault. I have not heard from my dealer till date. I too did not bother to enquire as I was busy and had no time to visit service centre. I am still waiting for the update from dealer/ Renault India regarding fuel pump and recall. It's high time, Renault does something about after sales support.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Recently had been for unplanned outing from office in Kwid and I was impressed by the way Kwid performed. We were 5 well built people on board and Kwid would pull effortlessly(Again in comparison to alto/eon). Not even once had I used 1st gear and 2nd gear would suffice. The pickup was good for 800cc and people were doubting if it really was 800cc.
To be frank i find the power to be more than adequate for 800cc/segment standards. After 9K on ODO the engine is lot more silent, barring cold starts.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

Renault to export India made Kwid to South Africa,Bhutan and Bangaldesh.
Highlights:
Renault plan to expand their market for hatchback "Kwid" to Bangladesh, Bhutan and South Africa.
The company has sold 1.10 lakh units in India last year.
Managing Director Sumit Sawhney termed it biggest 'Make in India' success story.

Also to celebrate the first anniversary of Kwid, Renault embarked on a drive with the Kwid from India to France. The car passed through 13 countries covering 18,996 kms before reaching Paris. This was done in collabration with Autocar India. You can check Autocar FB page for details of the trip which they already completed.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

About a week back there was a news in the Trivandrum edition of a leading Malayalam daily about a parked "luxury car" going up in flames, with the picture. The vehicle in the picture was actually a kwid, with the engine compartment on fire.
I am not bringing up the well discussed 'kwid on fire' issue. Just wanted to highlight what kind of a "luxury" image this budget hatch commands. The reporter might've mistaken the car to be some big suv.

Re: Renault Kwid : Official Review

So looks like Renault is following market leader with special editions

"Renault Kwid 'Live for more' edition launched in India at Rs 2.93 lakh"

Source

The comment the offer is only on 2016 models to make way for the updated 2017 Kwid is indeed interesting. Seemingly 2017 versions have a better NCAP-rated body shell.

Renault Kwid 'Live for More' Edition launched

Renault has launched a special edition model of the Kwid hatchback. Called the 'Live for More' edition, it is an accessory kit that can be fitted to any Kwid trim. This kit will be free of cost on the 2016 manufactured models, while the 2017 models will get it as a payable extra.

The Kwid 'Live for More' edition gets some cosmetic tweaks on the exteriors, including red and grey racing stripes that run from the hood to the boot, decals on the door panels, red accents on the wheel covers and front grille, a blacked out section on the C-pillar and a red-coloured spoiler. The roof rails also feature a contrasting colour tone of black and red.

On the inside, the steering wheel cover and the door pads get some red accents, while the cabin layout and features remain identical to the standard model. The special edition also doesn't get any mechanical changes. It is available with all powertrains of the Kwid: 0.8L, 1.0L and 1.0L AMT.
