Re: Mahindra TUV300 : Official Review

Hi, try quoting your car in other online forums as well. If Cars24 is quoting 6.31 then in my opinion you can get a bit better from the this price if you try it offline or through olx/quikr. However a lot depends on once lockdown is lifted and what are the consumer sentiments, discounts offered by manufacturers on new vehicles

For tyres if you are willing to change and don't want to spend much I will say that go for MRF Wanderer A/T. I also changed to these for my TUV around 18 months back and no issues till now. When I was looking for tyre change these were the cheapest at 5k/tyre. Most other brands like Bridgestone/yokohama/continental etc were starting at 6.5k/tyre.

Reliance gave me a quotation of 14,500 this year, which was just 500 bucks less than previous year. This made me cringe like crazy and decided not to renew with Reliance. I took a picture of all cashless insurers from my visit to MASS and started looking for alternatives.

This is by a fellow BHPian from Delhi. I can't remember right now who he is, but he had shared this same video here on this thread when he had just uploaded it. I also think it is his cousin's TUV, as I faintly remember. Check out his channel...there's that road rage incident with a Tata Nexon uncle as well that I remember and associate with this member. He had shared that on the roadrage thread as well.

The car got affixed with an MLD after a complaint of wheelspin issue was filed to Mahindra. They acted promptly and the item was affixed within 10 days of filing the complaint. But I guess that Mahindra doesn't do it any more.

Just an update on my TUV that won't start. I enquired with my friends and found a local mechanic who was willing to have a look at my tank. He got a spare battery and tried to jump start it and it won't start. He then said this may not be battery drain issue, but did not completely ruled it out. He said he will be back with a bigger battery and try again. Then no sign of him.

He mentioned how he jumpstarted almost 4-5 cars every day due to lockdown

My TUV3OO is 4 years 4 months old and still on OEM battery. Vehicle starts in single crank. During the lock-down I have taken out the vehicle once a week to refill 20 litre water bottles from nearby filtration plant, about 1.5 km round trip.

Re: Mahindra TUV300 : Official Review

Update on my issue, this time called M&M regional head directly and also emailed him. I then requested for personal visit from technician. Initially they said due to lockdown no one is available. I told them our city is in green zone and people are roaming freely, they then arranged for a technician visit.

Technician first checked all fuses and confirmed no issues with fuses. Then cranked the vehicle with direct wiring, and it started. He then confirmed it was not battery issue, but battery required replacement as it was leaking acid and also there was a small bulge at the side of battery.

The vehicle was not shifting gears and the AMT warning light was still showing. He then went and got the laptop to check the warnings. It showed Hydraulic Pump Pressure issue. He said it should receive around 60 bars of power to crank, but it is only receiving 1 bar as per system.

He then went under the body and confirmed rat biting of wiring Tow vehicle will be arranged soon and will have to get the total wiring replaced. Charged 1,500 bucks and said we will include this in final bill and went away.

Saw this photo (file photo, representative image) in this news.

Looks like the TUV took the impact well.

So it's been 2 months today I haven't cranked my tank. Due to lockdown I am at my hometown and TUV is in Gurgaon.
Any precautions I should take before cranking the engine almost after more than 2 months of standing idle. I will be planning to go back in 1 st week of June, hope by then travelling across states will be more relaxed.

Imagine a dealer stockyard, under normal circumstances. Cars here remain baking under sun and drenched in rains for more than 3 months too before they are sold.

These cars are just cranked and driven to the dealership or registering office by the drivers in perhaps the most insane manner as we all know and we get the same cars delivered and start babying them!

All you need to take care now is to crank and let the engine idle for a good 5 full minutes before you take off, drive carefully for the next few kms to check if all other functions are behaving normally : Steering, Brakes, Clutch and Electricals.

This is sad but common to the TUV in terms of wires exposed such a way to attract rodents. I have had my fuel pipes bitten three times and wires gnawed couple of times too. My qualis stands right next to the TUV but has never been bitten. I think the design of the wiring/hose layout and protective wrapping can be improved. 1500 is still OK, I've heard complete wiring kit change costs ~60k on the TUV.

Oh god. 1500 was just visiting charges and diagnosis. They are yet to charge the total amount. No update from MASS and it has been 2 days. They gave me some stupid link and said I watch live service center, which is of no use as the link will start working from May 27th itseems. So much for contact less servicing, The SA's are wearing masks only when they see customers.

Indeed, the TUV300 did took the imapct very well. Such a heavily loaded full sized truck should have crushed any vehicle to flat steel. Goes on to show the actual strength of the body shell used in TUV300 by Mahindra. Sad to say that today we equate safety more with no of air bags rather than body strength.

I wish Mahindra has sent TUV 300 for NCAP ratings. XUV 300 scored a massive 5* rating in NCAP crash testings, but it is actually a re-badged version of SsangYong Tivoli.

Re: Mahindra TUV300 : Official Review

Update on my issue, the tank was towed to MASS on 19th May'20 and not yet fixed. I got fed up and visited MASS, they are waiting for a part. Surprise surprise another AMT part failure addition to rat biting, this time hydraulic pump failure. SA agreed it was covered under warranty and thankfully I have extended warranty.

This is 4th or 5th AMT part replacement of my TUV, I don't know, I already lost count and patience. No point in using this vehicle anymore. After a long conversation with my dad finalized below 3 options for replacement
  1. XUV 300 W8 - 13.58 lakhs quotation (Exchange quotation of 5.5 lakhs on my TUV)
  2. Honda WRV BS6 - May launch in June'20 as per SA
  3. Kia Seltos HTK D- 13.75 (online quotation)

No negotiations are done yet on the above 3 options. XUV 300 is eliminated for being Mahindra and being too costly. No clarity on WRV BS6 release date. Kia Seltos is the only option left, but the only issue is that there is no authorised service centre at my hometown, they may open in future thanks to it's huge success. I actually wanted HTK+ variant but it was way out of my budget (15.5 lakhs). Any other suggestions?

I also wanted to check used Jeep Compass, but family gave a big no on used vehicles. Ecosport and Venue are too small (TUV really spoils you with space), Nexon a big no as it looks just like indica on steroids (Personal opinion) and offcourse Tata brand.
