Is it a recent click? That pearl white does hold the color/sheen well. And doesn't look out of place besides a LC.

Just curious, what are the reasons of a water pump failure and what symptoms show up prior to it failing?

Not many Safari/Scorpio owners I know go for Hexa/XUV, they much prefer either staying with the ladder on frames, or either upgrade to the Ford/Toyota.

And the Hexa isn't a ladder-on-frame?

There are quite a few 2WD Safari owners who've upgraded to a Hexa simply because it offers all the positives of the Safari with greatly improved interiors, a very good AT gearbox and more space for the third row.

Whoa; that is one big number to achieve in just couple of years; Congratulations, awesome feat!!
That's more than 3 times of what I've managed so far, for a similarly aged truck

So, in all these 1.4L kms, didn't you need any suspension overhaul; just one replacement!?

As @Sheel has already requested; please enlighten on the tell tale signs of issues 1, 2 and 4.

In mine, they'd to replace the complete lock assembly unit on the driver's door during last service. Interestingly, there was no issue reported by me; but when I went to pick up my car, during the test run, the central locking kept on locking-unlocking on it's own. The mechanic intially fiddled with the rubber bonnet stoppers, thinking that's not allowing the switch (spring loaded button), to trigger the central lock. After considerable efforts it was ruled out, since the key also was not able to lock the car manually. Finally, it boiled down to the central locking module located in the driver's door; it started misbehaving due to water entering the unit; someone had sprayed in a wrong manner during washing. It was immediately replaced with a brand new one; costs about 4K apiece but was obviously replaced under warranty.

A water pump failure is actually slightly difficult to diagnose as compared to say a leaking radiator or faulty thermostat. Some symptoms may include:

- An appreciable drop in coolant levels but no corresponding leakage seen anywhere most of the times. No coolant on the ground either. However, a fine mist of dried coolant might be spotted around the water pump area

- Sometimes accompanied by belt noise especially in cases where the water pump pulley has siezed. This is the most severe case of water pump failure and demands immediate attention, lest you want to risk permanent damage to the engine.

In VAG cars, the TDI engines have the pump sitting right next to the timing kit. If not diagnosed on time, the pump spews hot coolant onto the timing belt and ancillaries and even they have to be replaced. The TSIs on the other hand have the water pump on the opposite side of the engine in relation to the timing belt.

No idea about the varicor 400. I think the pump most probably sits near the timing kit in most diesels. Just a guess. It would be great if someone could shed light on this.

Regards,
Vishy

Of course the Hexa is a BOF. The thing is, it doesn’t pull your heart strings the way a Storme does. This is what I wanted to say :-)

Brake pads were replaced once at 70k kms & needs no replacement for next 10k+ kms...

Didnt sound like it, but I'll let it go.

Now that's some sane driving and great brake pad quality as well. Premium SUVs like the Endy and the Fortuner generally end up having their brake pads replaced every 25-20k km, even in their manual variants.

The suspension holding up so well is also a testimony to the well designed X2 chassis which also underpins the Aria. This also means that the Hexa should be equally/more trouble-free in the long run in the suspension deptt.

How has your ac been holding up? Does the temperature change satisfactorily when you toggle the control knob?

But the pic has some effects applied on it - those arent the natural colors, IMO. HDR may be ?

Not difficult at all. Have done 78k on my Sumo (before selling) and now 64.5k on the Storme on the original set. Tyres also last really long with a little care in the braking department.

Ladder on frames do have a better tire life, by at least 50% than monocoque. This is what I have seen. Dedicated thread - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...rame-cars.html

My brake pads too are going good at 62K [Scorpio S10 4WD], but will chnage them at 70K service. The rear drums were changed at 60K service.

I got a new observation today, when my car is on any slope or uneven surface during standstill, there is a loud sound of steering when I turn the steering at standstill position. It is so loud that even people outside hear it. It seems that some metals are contacting. I am not sure what it is. Please someone help me as I have planned a long trip to Delhi next week and I dont have time to go to ASC. My vehicle is 5 months old with 5k on ODO.

Pearl White was my first choice too. But I have the rarer Pearl Champagne.

Btw, what were the symptoms that led to replacing the EGR valve ?
