It requires bumper curing and painting as per Sales guy but i have no idea on it's operation as I did not ask. By the way, my beast will not come before April. Supreme court postponed our union.

Thanks for the info guys! Looks like that's a fairly exhaustive job and not something of a plug-n-play. What worries me is the color-matching/curing part; assuming they'd paint the whole bumper again post fixing the DRLs! Will wait and look for some examples, before I decide to dive in; I am anyway at least 2 months away from booking mine.

@Sourabh: Sorry to hear that; I know you'd mentioned about it earlier in the thread! I am just weirdly hoping that with the auto-expo around the corner, some more 'good' updates will be released until the April time frame

Re: Tata Safari Storme Varicor 400 : Official Review

I personally won't go for any accessory which involves disassembly of parts of the vehicle. I'd like to keep it in factory fit for as long as possible. Those locks and bolts just don't fit the same way second time around. Be it a Jap Honda or Indian Tata. The same reason I've not opted for the reverse camera. Pity it isn't stock anymore.

I'm hoping my 400 is on its way soon.

I think paint job is not for the whole bumper. They have to paint only the DRL assembly.

Re: Tata Safari Storme Varicor 400 : Official Review

Dear Navpreet

One more person (on other forum) reported vibrations in Varicor-400 during two different test drives.

Same is also reported in the official test drive of TBHP.

What was your experience regarding this?

Dear ISO

As far as I remember there was no such sound. Although I must say that being the owner of the 3L a lot of sounds might appear normal to me. We took a long test drive on one of our most frequent and favourite routes. It is a route which goes through the most sense traffic, open straights, slopes and winding turns as well. In all we were satisfied with the low end grunt as well as kick down. Didn't notice any anomaly or sounds which were out of the ordinary.

Edit: Have you taken a TD yet. You should soon. I'm sure the 400 is now available everywhere for TD.

No not sound. I will enclose original quote.

Yesterday had an long test drive of Storme 400 for about 40 kms.
We hit the highway, frankly speaking I couldn't notice any improvement over 320nm one.
I also felt the ABC pedals (and floor) were vibrating above 100 kmph, also the power delivery wasn't so linear as 320. The gear changes were good at 2.5 k rpm. But 320 felt good even at 2k rpm. These were the observations by me and my friend. Not sure if it is the issue with the TD car (it had 11xx k kms on odo). Does it require run in to settle down the vibrations ? I don't think so.
So the extra 2.6 lk extra justified over Ex ?
Regarding my test drive, I will be reaching Pune after two days. I Hope Pune Concord have Varicor-400. You know Pune Concord is most lethargic.

Re: Tata Safari Storme Varicor 400 : Official Review

Frankly I have no comments to make on the above test drive report. I had given my test drive points and opinion way before the actual Tbhp review and the same points about low end torque were mirrored in the Tbhp review as well.
I did not take it above 100 as it was not required. And I did not observe any vibration from the steering or the pedals. Maybe years of driving a bolero and multiple safaris and bullets and my GS has rendered my vibration senses useless. Overall. I liked what I felt.

When a vehicle has no low end torque it jerks. And the best example is the 3L safari. One cannot imagine the jerks in that vehicle in 3rd gear. The 400 on the other had pulls extremely cleanly. One just has to feel the vehicle to know if it's under strain. This wasn't.
I was happy. Family was happy. Good car.

Again. This is not a zero to hundred dash car for us. It's a daily drive for my father. And a rare touring or weekend getaway car. Basically a family car. For that it's shown that it can do rather well.

Congratulations Nikhil!! Wishing you lakhs of Happy miles with the beast!

I guess yours' would be the first 400 on Tbhp; eagerly looking forward to your own thread on the beast. Until then, do post about the initial impressions and maybe few more pics.

Re: Tata Safari Storme Varicor 400 : Official Review

Congratulations Nikhil! The beast looks mighty fine in this colour. What are the run in limitations for it?

Did you go in for an AMC? If yes then which options were available?

Yet to decide on AMC.

No run in precautions as per Head Mechanic.

Storme was driven from Pune to Latur by the dealer odo was at 401km.

But ill keep the RPM limit to 2000 only.

Nikhil
