That is a good approach that you're doing with regards to the Run-in.
Though it would be great if Behram Sir could update us with a run in process as well as an oil change schedule. I won't really be comfortable with the first oil change at 20000 kms.

Don't they have a transporter for this distance? Is this the normal procedure in Latur that they drive the vehicles over form Pune?

  • Ill PM Behram sir for run in procedure, best to get it from the Guru.
  • They need at least 6 cars to arrange car carrier.

Re: Tata Safari Storme Varicor 400 : Official Review

Friends finally I took extensive test drive of Varicor-400, 4 x 4, 2K on odometer.

+ points

1. Extremely silent cabin. No vibrations at idle. No usual diesel cluttering Sound. Only muted growl when you raise the accelerator. Vehicle is silent from outside also. Good job TATA

2. No rattling/squeaking sound when I driven on extremely bad road.

3. A/C is very silent and effective at minimum blower position.

4. Light clutch.

5. Smooth pickup from stand still.

6. Good quality premium looking fit and finish.

- points

1. Vibrations felt on steering wheel when vehicle was accelerating.

2. Steering wheel vibrates when vehicle going on bad patches.

3. Steering is not light at low speed. May be due to 4 x 4?

4. Slight body roll at high speed.

5. Quick progress from low to medium speed but relatively slow progress from medium to high speed.

Congrats Navpreet! I guess you got 2016 model. Will definitely wait to read your experience and comments. I think I was equally eager for you, if not more, to take this delivery.

Re: Tata Safari Storme Varicor 400 : Official Review

I'll gather some thoughts tomorrow and pen down the details tomorrow.
Took the Gold AMC for 3 years. As well as the extended warranty. Got an decent deal on Zero Dep. insurance as well. Slightly more than half of what I can see in the above image.

Did not opt for any accessory. Just thinking of getting 3D mats. Anyone know where I can order black 3D mats for the storme.

Congrats.

Btw did you get the updated version of the owners manual? i got the 320nm version with a single page of GB Engine info (without e oil info) added at the end.

Confused about the service intervals, Do they apply to 400nm version?

Please do get the Ceramic paint protection for the vehicle its worth every penny.

Thanks. Will check the manual and revert.

Which brand offers this ceramic paint protection? I'll have to see what is on offer here in Dehradun.

Congrats, Would recommend the bumper mounted DRL's. They look like a factory fit and add to the imposing feel of the Strome from the front.

The Bug deflector too is quite good. DO NOT pick up the Hood Scoop though.

Do post a review thread soon. Enjoy.

I really wouldn't want the bumper to be taken off. It will never fit in the same factory finish again.
Bug deflector might be good but the amount of dust, leaves and dirt that would accumulate under it has me worried.

Would post a review thread soon. I'm just enjoying the vehicle a lot in whatever time I get before, between or after work.

Just checked the manual. Yes indeed it is of the 320 NM version. Tata should have provided a separate one for the 400 NM version.
Looks like we need Behram Sir's help on this.

Congrats!

Have had the bumper taken out more than once and never had the fit issue. I also would suggest that you get the day lights. Its an useful accessory.

There is no mention for engine oil, I guess its same as 320nm version.

Engine Run recommendations.
Quote:
The best way to run-in a new driveline is to keep on varying the engine rpm. Do not run the engine at constant speed. Go up and down. For the first 5000 kms, do not exceed 3000 rpm. Replace engine oil a little before the manufacturers' recommendation for distance (around 6000 kms before), you lose nothing by doing it, you gain peace of mind!

Nikhil
