Interesting! did you sell after 30k? What is your current car now? I mean what is logical after a 3.2 Titanium?

Yes i had to, thanks to Arun Jaitley and his GST confusion on lease cars. Endeavour is an absolutely brilliant car.

I have not bought a car yet. Was planning to book another this year but the news of facelift version is out so will wait. And hopefully with come with the new 2.0L engine

Then I suppose there's no chance of India getting the facelifted version before 2019, is there?

And, I imagine Ford will hike prices at the beginning of the 2019 calender year yet again.

And isn't there supposed to be another tax/duty hike from the next FY?

This brute might be touching 45 big ones OTR within a year. Ouch!

Ford Everest competes with Toyota Prado in Australia. The prices have been relatively lower in India than in Australia. Clearly, the Endeavour feature set is a step higher than the vehicles in this category and it wouldn't surprise me if the top variant of the endeavour costs more than other vehicles in the category after the update with 2.0L biturbo and 10 speed auto. If that happens, given the scarcity of this vehicle in the used market without taking inflation in to account, the used vehicles may bring more to their owners that what they paid for. This would bug me to no end, but, I guess that could be the market reality.

Precisely my feelings too!

But I understood from previous posts in the thread that we would not be getting the 2.0L bi-turbo + 10 speed option just yet - we will still get the 6 speed + 3.2L combo, even after the facelift (which I'm not entirely disappointed about, mind you).

So does anyone have any updates regarding whether the India-spec model will receive the updated circulatory apparatus or not?

I know that since the kits come from Thailand, there will be standardisation, and no point continuing an engine just for a market with much lower numbers yada yada yada, but I understand that the 2.0L bi-turbo with the 10 speed will be offered alongside the existing engines. Hence my skepticism.

Waze, the navigation app, is now available on sync 3 with iOS. Given the lack of maps on Apple CarPlay, it's quite useful for folks like me who don't have in built navigation.

To use Waze, make sure the Sync system is updated to version 3 and you have latest Waze app on your iPhone.

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

I'm planning to switch my phone to an Android one. Is there anyone using AA here with a USB-C connector phone? My phone will most likely be the S9 Plus or the Pixel 2 XL. I've used the iPhone for the longest time and Apple Carplay didn't impress me much. So far I've been using Sync 3 BT connectivity so far and I feel its much better than Apple CarPlay. How has the experience of AA been so far?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I too shifted from Apple to Samsung S8 for same reason. Android Auto is great. Nothing can beat Google map live traffic.

Type-C connector is no issue. You just need to ensure that cable is high speed data compatible.
After sometime cables give away. Even Samsung cable after sometime started disconnecting. If the cable is not good map hangs or AA just vanishes and Sync returns to normal mode. I use Momax 5 inch long cable.

2.0 Ecoblue engine is available in two different tunes. 180PS / 420Nm & 213PS / 500NM. The latter one is exclusively available with 10 AT.
Ford India might bring 2.0 (180PS & 420Nm) along with the existing 3.2L
The Six speed AT box on existing 3.2L engine models is capable of handling 197bhp & 470 Nm, so i'm guessing the same should work for 2.0 (180PS & 420Nm)

Ah! That clears it up rather nicely.
Though given the efficiency benefits of the more modern and differently ratio-ed 10 speed, I was under the impression that it might be adapted to the 3.2L as well.

But I suppose the cost of doing so wouldn't be in favour of that change?
Or is there another reason that you can shed light on?

The Ford Endy/Everest is a global product and generally they will not go through the cost of engineering/testing combinations for one market given the relatively low volumes.

I would think that if we get the 2.0 we will also get whatever transmission it is linked to globally. I doubt they will put the 6-Speed only for Indian market.

We feel that Ford should discontinue the less powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine (160PS/385Nm) and offer the 3.2-litre engine as the base motor and the new 2.0-litre Bi-turbo as the range-topping model. Ford could also add an ‘S’ label with the 2.0-litre motor in the Indian market like it has on other models here.
Already the 3.2 ltr has crossed 40L on road and how much the twin turbo would be priced with 10 speed Auto? any rough estimates?

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

Few bhpians from Pune - 599gto, YCJ and yours truly - got a chance to drive the Ford Endeavour 3.2 AT 4x4 in Kamshet during a boot camp organised by the Ford dealers of Mumbai/Navi Mumbai.

Some observations :
  • The Endy feels indestructible off the road - we pushed the vehicle over some really bad sections and came away impressed with the abilities of the behemoth.
  • Although the Endy is a very heavy vehicle towering over most SUVs, but it sheds it's weight quite well.
  • The torquey motor is delightful - give it a push and it leaps ahead without any drama.
  • The ride quality is God like when compared to its competitors. Only the Pajero Sport feels as good.
  • Refinement levels are superb.
  • The off-roading event was a whole day affair and we went at the fag end of the day so probably we were the last few people who experienced the vehicles. Even after the entire day's abuse, the vehicles had absolutely no rattle or squeaks.
  • I cannot think of anything negative with the Endy as of now but if I had to nitpick, I would have loved a better ingress/egress to the 3rd row. Barring this, the Endy is pretty much everything one needs in this segment.
