Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

Dear all, this is my first ever post on the forum.
I have been doing some research on the new endeavour as I am planning to buy one. In the process I came across the following article about the Everest catching fire in one of the test drives in Australia. This is not to scare anyone but I am curious to know the result of the investigation following the mishap as I could not find anything relevant online. Wonder if anyone even knew about it.
Thanks.

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

My Car allotment came in for end of July but the Rep says I should get it before End of June. I am travelling for the major part of July so I am hoping it comes by June.

Other thing I am sweating over the possible ban on Diesel Cars by NGT in 13 more cities. Absolutely absurd and outdated plan.

Saw a Black 3.2 Titanium Endy yesterday at BKC Mumbai. Towering over my Passat. Looks absolutely menacing!

Today after my first service on my return drive in a regular 2 Lane national highway with moderate traffic I tried two different driving styles. I did stop in-between those to top up fuel.

1: In sports mode with aggressive acceleration and brakes (couldn't cross 110 km/h) got 8.6 km/L for 45 kms.
2: In regular mode with relaxed driving and speed not exceeding 100 km/h got 12.4 km/L for 70 kms.

I enquired about the cost of spare Alloy wheel without tyre in the service centre and they quoted me 42,000. Dropped my plans to buy one.

I am not sure about 3.2, but my 2.2 shows figure of 7.5KMPL only in Bangalore's bumper- bumper traffic. But in say ring road, or roads with lesser traffic in city, the MID hovers at 8.5-9KMPL.
Coming to highway, I would let the picture below do the talking.

Ford Endeavour : Official Review-img_20160521_061441.jpg

This was after driving about 150KM. The figures rose to 13.3 and finally settled at 13.0KMPL after 329KM's. Speeds were maintained at 100-110KM/Hr. About 200KM of the road is 4 lane and rest is 2 lane highway.

I suggest you buy the extra alloy even if it costs you 45000.(always better to have a spare alloy)
Also you will secure yourself against non availability and hike in price

13KMPL is quite decent for a 2.2 litre truck

Thats indeed pretty good, How much have you driven the car now? Might actually get even better once the car gets more running on the ODO.

The car has run 4500KM as of now and I doubt if the Fuel Efficicency get any better with more running. However I am pretty sure dropping the average speed to 80-90KM?Hr, Endeavour should deliver somewhere around 14KM/L.
Another observation I see now is that, the gearshifts are a lot better.

Finally saw the new Endeavour on road, My jetta suddenly started looking tiny in front of it, Its huge! Also liked the fact the DRL goes off when the turn indicator is activated.

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

Did anyone try adding some protective film to the beige areas of the car ? Are there any equivalents of the following in India ?

http://www.lazada.com.my/door-interi...lm-586336.html

http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...2649226&rt=rud

And is it necessary to add a layer of film/glass protection to the sun roof ?

Toyota Fortuner vs Ford Everest: In-Depth Comparison & Review from South Africa. I think this review is more relevant for us as South Africans have RHD vehicles and drives on the left.

Seems like this review tipped the Toyota way purely because it's cheaper. The cars were very evenly matched. In india, it might be the opposite on price.

Nice comparison. While Endeavour scores on ride/handling and space, Fortuner scores with engine which responds better. The interior quality seem to be slightly better in Fortuner as well.

The Fortuner is cheaper because they offer 2.4 and Ford does not offer 2.2 in South Africa/Australia. Neither there is a manual tranny on offer I believe. A 2.2 with Manual gearbox should cost same or undercut the Fortuner.

Re: Ford Endeavour : Official Review

Just out of curiosity, can the Indian endeavour tow 3 tons as well?
Is it legal for private car owners to tow trailers/campers in India?

3.2 being identical to Australian/South African version mechanically, I don't see a reason why it should not tow 3 tons.
Towing trailers is legal in India, though I don't know the exact procedure. As I remember you have to get the trailer registered(I might be wrong), I am aware of people who use trailers to their Thar.
