Congratulations on your new steed, sir.
Firstly, there was no mention of the Attitude Black colour in the brochure when I was booking mine.
Is this something that’s off the brochure, available only on special order?
Secondly, you’re right about the ride still being bouncy on 33 PSI. I’m planning on going down to 32/31 PSI all around once to see if it makes a difference.

In my case, when it came out of the showroom, it had a pressure of 38 psi and it was bouncing over the slightest undulation on the road. I reduced it to 33 psi, which made matters better. But, it's still nowhere as close to the comfort levels of the old Innova. It seems, the low profile 17" tyres are the culprit here. The crysta is bouncy on even slightly undulated roads. I reported this during first service and it was told to me that this is normal for the Crystas.

Disappointed with Toyota for not giving the consumer an option of having the 16" tyres on top variant.

Done 5000+ kms on my sport, 2/3 notchy gear is clear now, figured a way to drive smooth in city traffic with out constant gear change, figured a way to get 21+ mileage on high way(yes this is true, im not boasting) . After 4000+ kms engine has really freed up. Coming to tyres mine are 16 inch and are very comfortable on city pot holes and highway(33 psi). Im very happy with my car, thank you toyota.

What does 'low profile' mean? Does it mean 'radial tyres'?

I have not checked the tyre pressure on my Touring Sport since rolling it out last week. However, I agree, I too feel like it is bouncy on the slightest undulated road surface.

21+ mileage is just an incredible number for such a large Innova diesel engine. Really great to know. Probably you are leveraging the high torque to roll most of the time with a light foot .

Never would have imagined 1" (16" v/s 17") in wheel size makes such a difference in ride quality. Contrary, I was always of the belief that the larger the tyre size the better the ride (not to mention they cost more too). So with this logic, the Fortuner (never driven the latest one) also must be a bouncy ride with 19" alloys. The latest SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Tuscon, Skoda Kodiaq, Tiguan, XUV etc. all have large (17" or larger) tyre sizes. Would these also have equally bouncy rides, like that of the Innova with 17" alloys? My thought is that probably the rear wheel drive plus ladder on frame design of larger SUVs / MPVs make it a bouncier ride.

If you figured a way (to drive smooth in city traffic and to get 21+ mileage on highway), please reveal/explain it on the forum, so that other members will get benefited.

I have posted 18.1 kmpl mileage figure picture for a 900 kms trip on the forum before. This figure I attained with power mode in cities and eco mode on high ways before 3k kms. Its just getting used to gear ratios , sound of engine and sensitivity of throttle which I got used to in my first 1k kms in eco mode seeing the eco meter on the dash. I drive my tata nano very efficiently which my dad cant drive for 100 mtrs with out stalling. I learnt the same on my ninja which was really hard to drive in traffic. My driver got 13kmpl for a high way run on same route. Dont know how to explain but it just practise using eco meter on dash, may be i will try to record some info on my next trip in couple of weeks. I was never struggling to get this kind of fuel figures and get irritated easily if car doesnt move properly

I even asked my wife particularly after seeing the above posts on ride quality, she agreed @100kmph drive in innova is like sitting on a sofa with a/c on in living room

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Official Review

Wrong place to recommend this, but prospective buyers for whom ride quality is a priority, please test drive the Tata Hexa with its 19 inchers.

Proof of the pudding is in the eating.

The profile of a tyre is the depth of the sidewall, or the height of the side of the tyre, which is expressed as a percentage of the tyre's width.
i.e - the tyre size 215/55/R17 offered on the ZX has a lower profile when compared to the 205/65/R16 on the GX.
The part in bold refers to the profile of the tyre. Low profile generally equates to better handling, albeit degraded ride quality.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Official Review

Does the Innova Crysta have a separate AC unit for the second and third row seats or are they just vents for air flow running from the single main front AC unit.

They're independant of each other, the second row has its own buttons for switching the aircon on.

I don't have a separate on off button on the second row of my GX. It's just a slider to start the fan. Is the second AC only a top variant feature?

On a differnt note my tyres were inflated to a bone jarring 47 psi which was causing the bumpy ride. Now with 33 psi on all my tyres the ride is extremely smooth. However I am noticing a slight left pull. Is this due to torque steer or should I get the alignment checked in the first service at 1000km?

1. Yes. Only top end have separate A/C unit.

2. It always makes sense to get alignment (not balancing) done immediately after delivery (irrespective of manufacturer and dealer) and preferably by a specialist and not the dealer.

Except that you can't set the temperature.

I have been to harsha toyota and i am yet to see that kind of equipment they use for alignment. Its brand new and huge. I suggest dealer alignment is the one to go first.

I can adjust temperature settings at rear a/c vents in my innova.

There was one more innova in this forum which had the same problem from the beginning. It doesnt happen in my innova. Please get it checked.

Thanks. That clarifies. I'll try to change the tyre pressure to 33 psi as recommended by many on this forum, to see if there is any difference in ride quality for the better.
