Hi Vulken, the one that my in-laws have is a 2016 Crysta VX MT 2.4 and the one I experienced recently is late 2018/early 2019 GX MT 2.4. The latter is a very recent model as it has the touchscreen although it is a GX. I think the touchscreen was added to the GX only a few months ago.

So both are running on 16 inch wheels. You can check tire pressures too. I have a late 2017 crysta running on 16 inch tires@33 psi and it just glides on any road . Over 2 year owner ship, I found even at 35 psi the vehicle is a different animal altogether. Lots of shaking and unrest overpot holes etc. Please check your tire pressures. By the way I use a very precise tire pressure monitoring device. Hope this helps.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Official Review

15k service completed, engine is very smooth now. Been on a trip recently and my vehicle returned 12kmpl on highway. Now what speeds i have been averaging . wow what a machine.

I always wanted to see my touring sport in 18 or 19 inch wheels and look what i got. These wheels are for city use only.

Wheel : Rays japan.
size : 18 × 8 j
Tire : 255/45/r18 Yes it cleared with 3 inches on sides.
cost : $$ well the itching has stopped at least.

Another aspect would be type manufacturer. I have seen good difference between stock Bridgestone and Apollo. Latter is hard and has a tendency to bounce more than the former.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Official Review

Guys wanted to know an information about the ZX Automatic model. Is it not available in 8 Seater Configuration? All I can see is a 7 seater configuration.

Can it be ordered with a dealer and procured on a special request?

Quick answer is no, they don't have a 8 seat configuration for the Top-end version. Have seen people adding features to the GX variant, but haven't seen any ZX 8 seat conversion.

All Z models (AT or MT) are in 7-seat configuration. The GX & V (MT) variants can be procured in 8 seat configuration.

V variant is not available in AT, so while you get a 8-seat configuration with better creature comforts compared to the GX variant, it is only available in MT.

We have shortlisted the Innova as our next vehicle for family trips. However, confused whether to go for the 2.4 VX MT 7 Seater Diesel or 2.8 GX AT 7 Seater Diesel.

Recent changes such as the Heat Reducing Windshield and fast charging ports are also available only on VX and ZX variants.

Most other missing features in GX I think can be purchased as accessories.

Please suggest.

Simple, if you want to drive on daily basis get a AT else go for a manual. I suggest Zx if you could stretch.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Official Review

After a blowout which ended up damaging the alloy wheels ( covered under insurance) and multiple cuts on the tyres, frustrated me decided to swap the 17" alloys to 16" on our 2.8 ZX with tyre profile being similar to the OE ones 205/65 R16. The ride quality after the swap became stiffer as compared to the 17 inchers .

May I ask what year & month is your model? I had inquired about the tyre quality concern with the showroom about a year back and they assured me that there was a problem with the older batch of tyres. Since then, the new batch of tyres have not reported the issue of tyre cuts. This could be true, as there are hardly any complaints on forums or articles about the Innova Crysta tyre issue these days.

So the question to ask, is it the 17" size of the alloys that is causing this or stock tyres provided for the 17” alloys had manufacturing quality defects?
What is confusing, is whether the 17" alloys with "narrow tyre walls" are contributing to the issue or is it the particular batch of 17" tyre with narrow tyre walls that had quality issues?

@Vulken Auto on this forum in fact has moved to 18" alloys on his Touring Sport and seems to be happy with the change.

Ofcourse the 16" rims will have tyres of broader side walls which could be less prone to cuts compared to tyres with narrow side walls. But then, so many luxury cars we see on the road have large tyres with really narrow side walls.

I have upgraded to 225/55-17 and the problem seems to have disappeared. Read better ride quality and no cut so far.

I think a simple upgrade to the above mentioned tyre size would have solved the problem.

The side wall height in 225/55-17 is very much in line with the 16 inchers.

IMHO, the overall tyre size is looking smaller than the original Toyota make 16 inchers.

Mine is April 2018 model. Even I was assured by the dealer that the issue has been resolved and these are the newer batch tyres but not so, the issue still persists, you can consider this as the 1st complaint from the newer lot if there were none before.

Regards
Sanket.

Agreed, but then the set of 4 would have costed me 48k for replacement. Here i ended up paying 40k for Momo 16 inchers with Yokohama tyres after the buyback of my of alloy/tyres and yes they look small in pictures but aren't and the plus point is that they are cheap to run in the long run.well.
