With internet being an integral part of life, I would rather invest time in researching the web for facts than rely on the words of some sales staff.

Also, I think you did not really notice earlier posts of Motorbeam, Autocar, Overdrive TD reports of MT & DSG TDI Ameo.

Surely, not all of them would have missed mentioning the "90 BHP" tuning of the Ameo MT if there was any fact behind that dude.

Thank you vijayvelprakash for sharing the OTR prices for Bangalore.

So the facts are:

- Ameo TDI DSG is ~40k more than GT TSI

- Ameo TDI DSG is ~30k more than GT TDI

- Ameo TDI DSG is ~4.5 Lakhs less than Vento TDI DSG

And all this with More Power & More Features than all the above !!

Exactly right.

I was visiting dealers to check out GT TSI and make a booking before diwali. But the pricing of Ameo Diesel DSG has made me to rethink. Apart from the stubby boot, I prefer the Ameo over GT TSI as my usage borders between petrol and diesel.

TD vehicle for Ameo DSG is expected by end of this month and I may decide after a TD.

Thanks Vijayvelprakash.
What a huge difference with price compared to Kerala OTR prices!!!
Now am in a dilemma to decide from where to buy/register the car. I work in Bangalore now, and after after taking insurance from outside, I guess it will have a price difference of around 1L.
HL manual sells at 9.4 over in Kerala. Absurd road tax norms by Bangalore RTO's.

True when GT is compared with the Ameo DSG Highline trim.

Same time, must not ignore that Ameo DSG is also on offer in Comfortline trim. Lower on a few features compared to GT, this one is considerably cheaper too. My view is that moment Comfortline enters the scene, the GTs become very difficult to select over Ameo AT.

I am trying to imagine what could be the hypothetical pricing of Ameo TSI AT. If offered in Comfortline, it probably will be lower than or close to 8L to maintain the customary diesel to petrol gap. Assuming the pricing logic is applied correctly, GT-TSI should also price somewhere close to it with bias towards lower side. Ameo is a 'sedan' after all.

So if Ameo AT has been priced correctly and world is a perfectly logical place, we may look forward to see a price cut of 75K-100K in GT-TSI. Same for GT-TDI, if VW decides to continue with it hoping it still has left in it a touch of exclusivity.

Went to a VW showroom today, the pricing handout categorically states that the MT is 90 PS and 230 Nm.

Showroom has got the stats wrong. Below image should rest your doubts.

Re: Volkswagen Ameo : Official Review

I did a test drive of Volkswagen Ameo Petrol HL last to last weekend and finally Volkswagen Ameo Diesel DCT HL yesterday.

I found that interior quality is top notch, Petrol motor as we all know is underwhelming with average performance.

Regarding the Diesel motor, VW Faridabad was kind enough to arrange a car yesterday at short notice for home test drive. The sales representative was polite, knowledgeable and obliged us with long test drives (myself, better half, my uncle who owns a Ciaz and a friend who owns Vento HL 1.6)

All of us were very happy with the cars performance. Diesel DCT is a delight. Truly, I was much impressed with smooth gear shifts and punchy engine. However suspension is a tad hard for my comfort. Also rear legroom is not adequate (but no complaints there as we know its a subcompact segment).

Overall I own a Dzire at home and have driven Xcent a lot, I found Ameo to be much superior to these two cars in the segment.

Yesterday I also did a test drive of Etios platinum Petrol V. Thats a fine car as well. Infact other than the DCT and interior quality, it pretty much beats Ameo in all other aspects by far.

So currently confused between Ameo DCT HL (10.3 OTR) vs Etios Platinum V (8.2 OTR)

VW ASS and horror stories are a big impediment though for me.

All in all, Ameo is a great offering from VW for sure.

Hey Muski, I am sure you have mistaken big time or the SA who took you for a spin, actually took you for a good spin buddy !!

What is a Ameo TDI DCT?? I think you were referring to Ameo TDI DSG.

Good that you got to drive the updated TDI engine from VW. Personally, I am not a big fan of the 4m sedans and surely Ameo is not going to change my view any time soon.

But between Etios and Ameo, I would pick the latter every single time.

For 2.1 Lacs over Etios you get a diesel automatic along with

# ESP & Hill hold
# Rear A/C vents
# Telescopic steering adjustment
# All 4 windows with one touch up-down and anti pinch
# Rear camera
# Front center arm rest
# Cruise control
# Rain sensing wipers
# Auto IRVM
# Foldable rear seat back rest

Not to mention the superior interiors.

So don't get confused, the Ameo diesel AT is totally worth it.

Vik0728, DCT is also right since DSG is VW's terminology for DCT just like how Maruti terms its AMT as AGS

Re: Volkswagen Ameo : Official Review

I took a test drive of the VW Ameo DSG Highline Variant. There were lots of people at the Showroom Apple Volkwagen - Electronic City. Everyone wanted their hands on this car.

Following are the experiences
a. The engine still makes the same noise like a Vento and you can hear it outside.
b. Gear shifts were pretty smooth and un noticeable.
c. Outdoor noise was evident. Not sure if some cost cutting is done in this area. (I passed again on the same area, with the same drilling work in my i10 AT, it was not audible inside)
d. Power Steering is good, but when you take a U turn, the response from the steering is not that great (returning to the primary position)
e. Lots of space cuts to allow leg room for the rear passenger.
f. AC Vent which is a norm now, was a welcome addition
g. Rear Camera and Sensors are very good.
h. Engine is peppy with the Sports mode.

Most of the features from Vento are already carried over here. Vento DSG Reliability has been often discussed on this forum. Apple VW service has mixed opinions, some say it is good and some say it is bad.

A Vento package at a price of less than 3L, is really WOW. But the niggles of ownership, is still a wait and watch.
