Re: Tata Hexa : Official Review

Any Birdies with possible info on?:

Next Hexa update with:
1) 170 BHP Engine
2) AT + AWD variant
3) Apple / Android Auto
/ Carplay on a larger screen.
4) Powered front seats
5) Panoramic normal Sunroof.

Any of these happening anytime in 2018?

Also how have people found the Hexa 6 seater middle row vs 7 seater middle row vs Current Endeavour middle row.

Lastly in the real world how have bhpians found the AT vs the MT (AWD or not) after getting used to the MT.

If Tata implement points 2 and 3 of your above list, I would be standing in line at the dealership with booking amount in hand tomorrow! Of course the 170 HP engine (who can argue against more power!) and powered seats would also be great to have as well . Sunroof is not a factor for me and I suspect I would not (or rarely) use it even if the car came with one.

Is the wiper motor replacement a pro-active recall from Tata or is it only replacement on complaints?

Its a pro-active recall for wiper motor, not on basis of complaints. They have updated the ECU map and one more steering related pipe also proactively on service.

Re: Tata Hexa : Official Review

Over this weekend, had a chance to drive my friends Hexa XT 4x2 for 2-3 hours.
The car had 45,000 + KM on odo which it has covered within just 11 months since purchase.
4,000 KM per month is quite some serious usage for a personal car, in my opinion.

The car was in immaculate condition with no rattle of any sorts.
Ride was excellent even after such usage.
Clutch paddle was EXTREMELY light like a feather. I really mean it.
No major glitch reported during his whole owenrship period.

He is a one more happy customer of Hexa, I heard of and hence I am one happy TML lover.
I pushed him for this car last year.

Re: Tata Hexa : Official Review

Modern day Automatics are equally efficient as Manuals.

In Hexa both are 6 speed.

Which is more Fuel Efficient?

Of course, it has to be the manual which is more efficient. There's a power loss in the conventional torque converter automatic which the likes of Crysta and Hexa uses.

1) Yes, happening.
2) No concrete info on this but it's definitely on the cards for the next-gen.
3) Yes, happening. Harman is developing it as we speak.
4) Slim chance, but can't be ruled out due to the time period (2.5+ years).
5) Very slim chance. As per my understanding, the normal sunroof will continue to be offered as an OEM accessory.

Not before mid/late 2020.

Not all modern day Automatics are as efficient as their Manual counterparts. The Dual clutch and AMT's are- to certain extent, but the CVT and traditional torque converters are not. Take the new Ecosport, while the petrol MT has ARAI rated FE of 17KMPL the AT has only 14.8!

Manual is more fuel efficient than AT. At-least by 2-3 kmpl.
I drive an automatic and average is around 11 kmpl (Highway + City).

Re: Tata Hexa : Official Review

Another problem that I am starting to face is -

Speed Sensing Door Locks are intermittently not working, 1 out 5 times that I drive out, they do not work and I have lock the vehicle manually.

Is any other BHPian facing this issue ?

Can someone also confirm, at times when I lock my car with the fob, it gives the sound (the beep) that it is locked and more often than not it never beeps.

Tata surely has electrical issues that need to be weeded out.

What are you talking about? I never heard a beep since day 1!

Definitely seems like an electrical issue with the locking system. But I would like to add that if the doors are not shut properly, the central locking and speed sensing locks don't work. Even if you manually lock, the central lock doesn't work.

I faced this issue a year ago when in the middle of drive, the speed sensing lock feature didn't work. The relay was attempting but was unsuccessful in locking the car. Manual central lock didn't work too. I re-shut all the doors one by one. Somehow the hatch door of my car (a WagonR) was not closed properly which was causing this issue. Surprisingly, the hatch hadn't been opened in the preceding few days but the locking was working fine till that moment when it acted up. After the hatch was closed, the car was back to normal and this issue hasn't recurred since.

You could look at the locks on each door for any loose connection which could be triggering some of these issues.

In most cars, this can be configured through the car alarm settings and the remote key fob. Look at the manual to confirm the same.

2020 for Android auto seems like a futile effort.

Are you not in any of our ownership groups? You would have got an immediate solution from there!

First off, there's not supposed to be any beep when you lock the doors. It beeps only as a warning when any door is open or not properly shut.

One of your sensors would be the culprit and this issue can be resolved by any competent TASS in under ten minutes after identifying the sensor.

TATA has very minimal electrical issues as compared to the horrors in the competition. Adding to that, the fact that Hexa is relatively new in the market, it is rather appreciable that no serious electrical issues were reported. Mind you, we still do not have a niggles thread on TBHP!
