Re: Maruti Baleno RS : Official Review

A friend shares video and pics of this new shade(Magma Grey, replaces Granite Grey) on Baleno RS which looks quite nice. Also the interiors are a bit different compared to normal Baleno. There is no bluish patch on the doorpads, and the patch on the seat is a small one too.

Re: Maruti Baleno RS : Official Review

Hello,

Can someone check and confirm if the Front Stabilizer bar in Baleno RS is different from Baleno 1.2/1.3?

Part No (1.2/1.3)- 42311M68P20
Part No (RS) - 42311M68P00

The part numbers are not the same, so they are obviously different. But, you should be able to install the one from RS .

Re: Maruti Baleno RS : Official Review

End of the road for the Baleno RS! Hope parts availability will not become an issue for existing owners. There was a lot of speculation about Swift Sport, I guess all those rumours can be buried now.

Re: Maruti Baleno RS : Official Review

Some assistance & advice needed.

Today, for the second time since December, my Baleno RS suddenly stopped responding to the accelerator pedal. The engine just refused to react to any accelerator activity and the car was just coasting listlessly , albeit in full control. The car barely rolled over the Matunga flyover and for a minute, at the peak , I thought the engine would stall.

The thing is, that after reaching home, when I dared to switch off the engine and re-start , the car was fine again.

The first time it happened, I had taken it to a garage operated that many in Mumbai know about ( Sunil Shanbhag) and he said it could be due to the accelerator-engine sensors .

Now, after this second incident, I am a bit apprehensive about taking it out of Mumbai ( our car does regular Mumbai-Pune jaunts).

What should I do ?

I guess you need to ask the authorised service center to do a complete test and analysis of the engine. From you post it looks to be some issue with the ECU but cannot really place my finger on any conclusively.

It is MS so need not worry if anything untoward happens and you need immediate assistance. Mumbai - Pune is not a worry at all but I agree precaution is better than cure.

This type of behavior is typically demonstrated when the engine hits 6000rpm. As you say since the car was coasting maybe something wrong with RPM sensor.

Two are for mirrors, to protect them from minor scratches.

Will this be the replacement for the Baleno RS in India?

What makes you say that this will be the replacement for the RS in India? Has there been any indication to that effect by the company? Going by the trend of turbo petrols slowly flooding the market, it is quite possible that the Boosterjet might make a comeback, though its performance in the first innings has probably discouraged Maruti enough. Highly doubt that there would be s sports version of the Baleno though.

I'm not saying. I'm hoping it will.

No. But since they have showcased it other markets, they probably want to produce it. And if they do, what's the harm in launching it here.

I don't thing they have a choice. With the competition offering it, they will have to use this engine sooner or later.

That time it was pitted against the more powerful Polo TSI and Abarth Punto. Compared to them it was not really sporty. However with Hyundai using a Turbocharged engine in the Nios and probably Tata launching a regular Turbocharged Tiago (since the JTP is discontinued), Maruti will have to respond.

Well if they launch a Boosterjet regular Baleno (like international markets), they can easily add in the cosmetic bits and sell it as a "Sport". Traditionally Maruti "Sports Editions" were always just cosmetic jobs.

Re: Maruti Baleno RS : Official Review

Have any of you Baleno RS owners tried using higher octane fuel in RS; I tried and the result was quiet good, no more lurching at lower gears, engine runs much more smoother and a little better average in city.
Now I have decided to use Speed-97 whenever possible.

Haven't tried Speed 97 but I regularly use XtraPremium which does feel better than the regular unleaded fare.

Thanks for the user experience though. Perhaps i should try it sometime.

Drive on,
Shibu.

In Europe and US the most widely available fuel is of RON 97, the RS engine being imported, that could be the reason for the huge difference in drive performance.
