I have a creaking sound coming from the place where the centre touchscreen unit meets the rest of the dashboard and only when the dashboard warms up in direct sunlight. Is this the same that you have experienced? When I press my finger on that point which looks like a mounting point the noise stops, I can also feel a very slight relative movement in relation to the dashboard. How was this addressed please if so? I am apprehensive of letting the service centre look at it for fear of them trying to pry it open with hard tools and leaving marks. Noticed this from Day 1. Thankfully no other creaks or rattles.

Congrats on owning the beauty. On the gearbox response, Harsha89 has done a remap from Wolfmoto and is very happy with the response now, maybe you could explore.

By the way, which is the place in the last 2 photos.

Thanks, yes it is a beauty.
Not looking for remap now, but I will check on the suggestion.
The place is on the way to Sangama (Kanakpura Road). Here is the exact google location https://goo.gl/maps/uJ2jf8pyni8qwP2N9.

I would connect and update you on my observations after few days of monitoring.
Hi All,

To update further on the random change of audio source, currently there is nothing connected now to the USB port, only the card reader is plugged into the USB-C port of the infotainment system. After using the car in that configuration, I find that the random jump to radio is still happening. So, effectively, the service technician's logic does not hold out in real that dashcam plugged into USB port along with card reader connected to USB-C makes the infotainment system confused.

So, there must be some other problem to dig for. For that I am planning to go to the service centre once again to explain and demand a solution.

However, it might take a while to plan that out of my recent busy schedules. I would keep you posted on the proceedings.

Regards,
DK

Thanks for the location, guessed its around Kanakapura, been ages since been to Sangama. There is a place called Dabbaguli which is a great drive and also a test for offroad hardware.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Hi everyone,

I am now almost 5 months and 3000 kms in to my ownership of the Compass. It's predominantly been stress free but since the last 2-3 weeks there's a non stop rattle sound coming in from somewhere around the sunroof on the passenger side. I know a few of you have had similar issues, are there any fixes for this? The sound has been very irritating and it's ruining the pleasure of driving this car.

I do have an appointment this week with the service centre but I wanted to check if there's anything that has worked for someone that had a similar problem?

Thanks!

I did not get a chance to check this out, even though I wanted to see the process. They took the car out for a TD to check the noise, and got it fixed within minutes of them returning (even before I could realize the car was back).

The fit and finish after the fixes look ok. I do not think there was any major surgery done. Speak to the SC and ask them to walk you through the process if you are worried.

I wish to post an update about my night eagle. I have crossed 10k mark today. It is just 4 months old. So far so good.

Jeep Compass Limited 4x4

Hi friends,
Bought a new Jeep Compass Limited 4x4 asking for some advice. Noticed that the front fender has little attachment like a lip under the fender about 4” wide which hit the curb while parking, no damage done thankfully but got me wondering if it could be removed as doesn’t seem to be a part of the fender but attached to it. Give the Jeep a little more clearance when off roading and not scrape oversize pavements.
Would appreciate your views on the subject.
Thanks in advance.

It's there for aerodynamic purposes, people often removed it when going off-road, Spiti, etc.

There was a larger and smaller version available earlier - Not sure whether it is different in the current models though.

Thanks for your very prompt response, think it comes in one standard size now, in any case will keep it on till the time plan to do a long distance trip which might also have some bad roads.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

I had the Pajero Sport before was forced to sell it due to the NCR rules regarding 10 years for diesel cars. Had driven 2,37,000 kms in it with nary a problem, no breakdowns ever, no squeaks or rattles. The most reliable car I have ever owned. Now bought a Jeep Compass Limited 4x4 did one drive to Jaipur and was pretty satisfied with it. Would love to know more pros and cons about it from fellow owners on the forum.
Thanks

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Crossed 3500kms since Mid January 2023 with a Goa trip. This itself was over 1200kms. Drive was really good and the Compass really comes into its own on the highways and the ghats. Enjoyed driving through the ghat sections on the return journey where I took a route with more ghats just for the heck of it .

Couple of questions to fellow owners (mine is a Petrol AT)-
1) Has anyone bought the non-rubber floor mats - the ones they call corporate mat? If yes, are you having issues with the clips? I already have a few clips breaking off when I remove and dust it. Have an appointment at the service center next week where they said they will take a look.
2) Sometimes when I start from a standstill (especially on an incline), the car goes a few inches backwards before moving forward. Has anyone else noticed the same? Coming from my earlier XL6 this is a bit uncomfy.
3) Getting a sort of vibration from the dashboard at certain speeds and road surfaces. It comes only at a certain speed. Have not pin-pointed it yet.

Other than that its been a good few months

2. I heard the same complaint from another Compass owner using the petrol AT. He actually came to me out in a public parking lot asking if I have this exact problem. I had to confirm that I did not. Mine is a diesel with a TC box unlike the petrol with a DCT. I think it is just a badly calibrated hill start assist on the petrol. The system should not release the brake until the clutch has taken proper hold. Might be fixed with a soft update hopefully for you. I did experience this rolling away effect once when I test drove the petrol AT. It was a downward slope and I wanted to reverse. The car rolled forward a few inches causing me to slam the brake again. Second try it rolled again but caught itself correctly in just a sec. If I were presented with this issue I would try to find a manual workaround like apply the e-brake on slope or left leg brake whichever works. Other petrol owners may have more inputs.
The diesel might also have this problem but it is properly masked because the TC never releases fully when in D or R. This itself will prevent an unintended roll in the other direction.

3. If it is a creaking sound that seems to be random, please check if it is the touchscreen unit by placing your hand on top of it or around where it meets the dashboard behind it. I have mentioned it elsewhere in this thread. No solution for it yet, it's just that I am too busy with other things and work to take a look at it. For sure it can be a DIY fix if willing for the effort.
