An interesting thought crossed my mind. We all know that JEEP is planning to launch Compass Trailhawk version soon. What if its a brilliant move by JEEP to clear the stock of existing Limited 4x4 stupid:
If that is the case, it would also mean that the downward price revision of Limited 4x4 maybe permanent and more importantly, the Trailhawk version would be priced at par with the current price of Limited 4x4.

Not really as the Trailhawk is also with the 9 speed auto gearbox so the difference from the Ltd 4x4 would be at least 1.2-1.5 lacs. They are possibly doing this to realign their stock level as they probably produced more 4x4s expecting high demand but demand for 4x2 was more.
Also they have just announced a 4% price hike from April so it is unlikely they are planning a price reduction!

I am expecting Jeep to launch the Limited 4*4 with the 9 speed Auto and that would be priced at about 1.25 - 1.5 Lakhs more than the manual version. This may not be launched along with the Trailhawk, but will eventually get there. So expect the Trailhawk to be priced atleast 2.5 lakhs more than the Limited 4*4 manual to leave space for the regular Compass automatic.
There is a big shift towards automatics and I am sure Jeep will have to realign their entire lineup with automatic being available from the longitude trim onwards. Gone are the days when automatics were marketed as halo and top of the line products.
Was surprised to see that 20% of the sales are petrol model.I had thought this number to be much lower.
"Out of the total units sold, 80 percent of the sales are attributed to the diesel model, while the petrol makes up the remaining. " http://autocarindia.com/car-news/jee...00-mark-407850
Another potent competitor soon to join this segment is the Honda CRV which is expected to drop in the price segment of 22-27 lacs ex showroom and with their new frugal 1.2 and 1.6 L diesel engines they may become a potential challenger to the Compass. It is also a 7 seater and quite spacious inside which may give it an edge over the Compass. I expect it to do quite well and touch 1500 units per month even in this price bracket.
Jeep would then need to reposition to the bracket where it originally was before the GST hike. I feel that Honda is going to be very aggressive with the CRV as it will also allow them to fall in slightly lower GST slab with the 1.2 L diesel engine.

1.2 L engine on the CRV ? I know there is a 1.6L with a twin turbo to pull the beast, but an 1.2L might be way too under powered, no ?

CRV with 7 seats and a 160HP version is going to be atleast 5-6lacs costlier than the compass. Not sure which 1.2L you are referring to. Honda plans to offer 2.4 petrol and 1.6 diesel. For the latter, it is not clear whether it will come in 120HP or 160HP.

I for one am happy about more good cars joining the competitive fray so us customers can get better deals! lol:
The 50k offer for Compass 4x4 is on top of the price hike or with old price? Anyone checked this?

It is a 20k discount on the launch price.
My Petrol AT has finally arrived and my face looked like this :D
Waited for almost 2 months and the excitement was palpable.
Went for the inspection prior to registration.Car looked fine, there were no scratches. Also turned on the car and the ac/music system worked perfectly. The interiors in a couple of places were soiled but my SA mentioned they would do a thorough cleaning before delivery.
Registration will take place next week.Intend to take the delivery on 15th April(Poila Boisakh) which is the start of the Bengali Year and a very auspicious day.
Also spotted the new Magnesium Grey in the stockyard and posting the pictures of that as well.
Was talking with service provider about Trailhawk and that ZF9HP is quite sweet having experienced it with a Discovery Sport it did hit the mark always. Low end dual clutch boxs are always better than similar old school boxs but ones from ZF are always close for some reason.

Well the 4x4 offer is on only for the 2017 manufactured vehicles. They were offering discounts on that before also. But with this price cut one can get a 4x4 at a much cheaper price. Nobody I knew fell for this

It is old stock alright, but still you save 1.5L over the regular ex showroom price and another lakh on road tax. Why do you think somebody in the right mind will not fall for this?
