Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Looks like the Lip is bolted or latched on to the Bumper.

Should be easy to remove the Lip then.

It is attached to the bumper and it is removable. The only problem I was told was that on removal the bumper may rattle at high speeds since the way the lip is attached it gives some structural stability to the bumper on the sides

Not sure

Anyway will try to see it getting removed

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

I spotted this grey compass on the NICE road, yesterday. It had a matte finish.

Looks like the Trailhawk making an appearance yet again! The logo looks like the below one to my eyes -

Jeep Compass : Official Review-images.jpg

But - Most of the plastic trims suggest it being based on the base Sport variant.

I remember reading it as Longitude.

Even i thought the same but somehow the trailhawk logo looks smaller than what we have in international market. Hope its Tailhawk only and would be even sweeter if in Sports model (possibility of endless modification)

It is a Longitude variant wrapped at 3M. If am not wrong it belongs to the store owner only, it was originally black wrapped to Matte Aluminium. Approx 70k.

Spot on. Belongs to the 3M Basaveshwarnagar owner. I had posted pictures of the same car in black just after the launch.

Yeah I'm with you there, on not requiring the side steps. However on seeing the sidesteps on the red in the showroom, I did like the way they look- although being a noob in this segment, I think I'll listen to the experts on this one! Attaching a couple of pics of the sidesteps I caught.

Why do people say dark colors require more maintenance? I loved the black color too but my reason for being a bit unsure about it is the greenhouse effect issue and the fact that any scratches would be more visible (my previous two cars were black and were both not too bad to be honest, but then both were tiny- one being the Fiat Palio ). Do you reckon maintenance would be tough for this sports-car-like red too?

Also- I had no idea olive green/ military green colored cars are illegal to own in India, unless it's an armed forces vehicle! I was certain of getting the matt olive green finish/ decal on my car once it turned a bit old/ dull- but this info was completely new to me!

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Confirmed: Compass Petrol Automatic Already In Production

I had a brief interaction on emails with FIAT India MD Kevin Flynn in which he confirmed that the 7 speed Auto with 165 HP Petrol is now in production. This means that it should start reaching dealers latest by next month.

Also, I had asked him if they are planning a sunroof on the Compass, which he did not deny, so it could be a distinct possibility.

Below is the extract of the email:

Saw this car in person at Thrissur Hyson showroom on Saturday. Looks pretty ugly I must say. By the way, looks like it is owned by Kalyan group.

Also test drove a Limited 4X4. Build is nothing like I have seen till now on any car - simply feels so sturdy. Masks speed as well as acceleration very well. Oh yeah, managed to stall the engine on 2nd gear where most cars would not. Handles quite well for a car that sits so high.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Just noticed this little detail on the Jeep. Not sure if our review has covered the same. One more easter egg on the Sport variant.

Not covered in the official review which was of the Limited variant, but I had posted the same few pages back here (Jeep Compass : Official Review).

Sport variant feels good, if not for the alloys wheels, which are an easy swap.
