I've tried asking them to remove the handling charges. Their answer sums up to, "lena hai toh lo". I've tried showing them the court verdict, etc but they won't budge. Same experience across all 3 dealers with whom I'm in touch.

You will have a tough time getting a waiver for the handling charges and there will be a minuscule chances for the same happening. On the contrary don’t go for insurance through the dealer, you will save some money if you take the insurance directly. Furthermore, the dealer may give good discount as the business is hit very badly.

I came across this video where the guy mentions many people having an issue with the Nexons driveshaft. Has anyone of you gone through this issue? Or is the video content exaggerated?

Why bother so much? The SA's response isn't going to change just because you prove that TML isn't selling many cars contrary to their claim. They have their own targets to meet and nothing else. You'll need some other ideas to negotiate on the ground.

You can find the dispatch numbers for each car in the SIAM monthly numbers of course if you insist.

+1 to both points. Get insurance from outside @dieselritzer. It will save you a surprising amount in thousands generally. Also - you can get a quote from outside and ask the dealer SA to match the number. They generally will. Ask the dealer to throw in a few free accessories. Genuine accessories are quite good & would be a good to thing to get some as freebies.

Don't overthink. And certainly don't use such videos on YouTube for technical assessments. YouTubers vary from really genuine experts & reliable sources, paid artists to absolute idiots. Its not easy to decide which is which. If there was such a flaw in the Nexon, you'd surely find it on TBHP. We have a large number of Nexon owners over last 4 years now. And this has not shown up in any user's stories. If something this dangerous happened to a member's or members' acquaintance's car - surely they'd post. So I don't expect your question is going to get "Yes I had this issue" as an answer from too many members. :) Don't worry so much with YouTube as source for the worry.

Did anyone recently take a test drive of the BS6 Nexon Turbo Petrol? I Did, and guess what's new:

The updated instrument cluster (Pic from janakiram_m\'s excellent Tiago Thread)
I guess the Triber's bold moves seem to have some takers.

The Good:
The Bad:
I really liked this car and the platform. I specifically test drove the Turbo Petrol to know how much of a difference there is between the EV and this. I was suspecting that the EV has been heavily sound proofed but the Petrol version was also comparably good.

Incidentally, I took a test drive this morning!

I really liked the new front, looks much better in person than in the pics. Same goes to the total size and dimensions, it looks much bigger in person than in the pics.

Here are my observations based on a 12 kms drive: (I drive a 1.2 ivtec in amaze so my observations might be comparative)

1. Vibrations on steering wheel at idle with ac on (cold start? I was the first to drive the test drive car today). Forgot to check if they existed after the drive. dang.

2. Engine more audible at idle and lower gears at between 2 and 3k rpm compared to the iVtec. I was expecting more quiet. Again, could be attributed to cold engine.

3. Engine response: The engine impressed me. Good pickup. Good drivability, did not notice much lag because I am used to keeping the revs above 1.5k in my current car. Picks up very nicely post 2.5k in sports and 3k in city; did not drive in eco. Speed builds up quickly in a very linear manner when the turbo spools. Overtakes were easy and the engine didn't feel stressed when revved near redline. I wouldn't call it explosive, but the punch is definitely adequate. I found the clutch very light and had dint notice any issues with the bite point.

4. Economy: 12 kms drive - mid showed 13 Kmpl. 70 percent of which was spirited driving with a cold engine.

5. Headroom: 4 finger gap between my head and the roof; i am 5 feet 6 inches.

6. Swayed ride: This may be because i am used to driving a sedan, but i felt the car swayed a bit side to side. I don't know what to benchmark this against. I have sat in a scorpio that swayed like a boat and driven a Terrano long couple of times but cant recall it swaying.

7. Handling: I liked how the car handles. Steering response is nice and it was much like driving a car than a SUV. The steering wheel is very nice and feels good to hold. The body roll was not pronounced around corners-I took a couple of sharp turns and there was minimal roll.

8. Suspension: Speed breakers and pothole thuds felt inside. I sat at the back in a bad patch and i did feel the bounce a bit more than i was expecting. TMPS showed 32psi at front (both) and 31 at rear.

9. Long throws - gear changing is not fun. I might be spoilt by the sweet Honda gearbox. Once i slotted to 3rd from 4th only to realise that I had just put it in neutral.

10: I found the fit and finish to be good. Seats were very comfortable both at the back and the front.

11: AC was very impressive. The entire test drive was with AC on.

12: Driving position: It was just perfect. Did not even have to try to find a comfortable driving position. The steering wheel was great to hold.
My main interest is in the diesel which unfortunately isn't available for a test drive in my town. The dealer insisted i checked out the petrol, hence I did.
I must say i am impressed by the motor nonetheless. If i do not find much difference in the drive I might end up considering the petrol.

Boot is not opening while operating the buttons in the smart key.
Has the same issue is happened before?
Has any one noticed it?

Which variant do you have VIGNESHSP? If its XZ+ - then even if you use the boot release on the key fob, you have to press the request sensor on the hatch to release the lock.

That won't work, as it's not a boot open button but a boot unlock button. This button just acts like unlock button, but only for boot. When you press this button from some distance, only boot door is unlocked & can be opened by anyone using the request sensor but any other door won't open.

Try it out, hope this helps.

Whatever you quoted above are typical of Nexon petrol, irrespective of cold engine especially when you compare to Honda. The engine does have some vibrations and is audible, this is mainly due the fact that this is a 3-cylinder engine. And the low speed ride is jiggly but very compliant as you pick up speed.

I saw a used 2018 petrol Nexon XZA+ "test drive car" for sale with 15k on the odo.
1. What would be the right price for it?
2. Is there a specific colour of Nexon AMT that will be used as test drive cars?

Please, stay away! NOT a good idea to buy a test drive car that has done 15k. Look for a pre-owned personal Nexon if you're dead set on buying one, but no, please, for your sake, stay away from the TD car like it's covid!

Can't comment on the price.

But the test drive cars for Tata Nexon that I usually see are in Etna Orange (at least in Bengaluru).

First thing I'd say is - the ODO is probably not telling the truth. Nexon TD cars are running around all the time. 15K is too low a running for what is at least a 2 year old car. I'd say don't bother. Look for better specimens in used car market OR simply stretch further and get a new one. After-all the car is worthy & you can keep it for a decade to recover your investment.

Like @JithinR said - pretty much everywhere the TD cars upto end of 2019 were often Etna Orange.

Guys, in the past 1 month 3 Tata dealers in Mumbai have shut shop. MyDsm Kurla, Wasan Chembur, Deogiri Andheri West.

I'm not hearing similar news of showrooms shutting shop from other brands. Difficult times ahead to the folks who earned their living in these places.

Hello BHPians, hope you're all healthy and safe.

I'm looking at a petrol Nexon (MT). I have a few questions for current Nexon owners. Inputs from 2020 Nexon owners will be even more useful. I'm waiting for MT cars to reach my nearest showroom (currently in Belgaum). Once they arrive I will take a test drive.
1. How are the NVH levels of petrol Nexon? (I'm coming from a 2010 Honda Jazz)
2. Is Gold AMC worth? Dealer is pushing for 2 year subscription.
3. IRA app and connectivity suite is the only difference between XZ+(S) and XZ+(O). The cost is 30k. :Shockked: Is it worth?

Thanks,
Sameer
