Hi Sahil - please do take it to the service center and have the technicians check it once. I had similar issue a few years back and got a Check Engine light while driving. Took it to the service center the next day and the guys re-flashed the ECU (at least that is what they said). There were no error codes when the connected the computer though.

Better to get it checked once.

What's going on with the Ranjangaon plant? It does not look like one of the cases. Engine failures are getting reported one after another with FCA and Tata engines. Sharing below a couple of engine issues I recently came across in team-bhp.

Jeep compass - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...p-compass.html (Major engine problem in a 40-day-old Jeep Compass)

Harrier - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...ml#post5346388

Altroz- https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...s-service.html (2021 Tata Altroz DPF issues and engine failure | Good experience with Tata's After Sales Service)

and now Nexon's engine - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offic...ml#post5424948 (Tata Nexon : Official Review)

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

I have a Nexon XZ+ petrol, manual, which is 7 months old now, done 6300 kms so far.

While starting car every time, a gas like smell (like phosphorous) comes from aircon vents. It goes away after a while, once you drive few kms with outside air mode /windows open or when you switch on AC. Again if you park car and restart, same issue occurs, until AC on.

Took it to the SC (no smell was there at the time as I had driven few kms!!) they told there is no issue, tightened some washer near petrol tank saying that petrol fumes might be entering cabin. The smell persists unfortunately.

Anyone faced this problem or any inputs that can help?

Tata Nexon line-up rejigged; 6 variants discontinued

Tata Motors has discontinued six variants of the Nexon. These mainly include high-end trims starting from the XZ.

Tata Nexon : Official Review-nexonmobilespecificationsoverlay.png

Customers can no longer get the Nexon in XZ, XZA, XZ+ (O), XZA+ (O), XZ+ (O) Dark and XZA+ (O) Dark variants. Their place has now been taken by the XZ+ (HS), XZ+ (L) and XZ+ (P). The crossover continues to be offered in the Dark, Kaziranga and Jet editions.

Tata hasn’t made any mechanical changes to the Nexon. It is available with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 118 BHP and 170 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 108 BHP and 260 Nm on tap. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Most OEMs offer around five petrol/diesel variants. It is beyond my comprehension how Tata manages to offer so many variants (20+petrol and 20+ diesel).

A customer has a number of choices but deciding which is right for them is a difficult task.

I guess we need to dedicate a new 'Nexon variants rejig' thread. These news come every 2 or 3 months.

That being said, reducing the number of variants on the Nexon is a good move. Avoids a lot of confusion. Having 70 variants is not a great thing.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Well, this is just outrageous. Why introduce so many variants at first place? Having more variants is good for customers but this is also the main reason behind poor quality control in TATA products. It must be a nightmare to handle the inventory of these at the factory. When will they finally give it a facelift++ or new generation??? Just transfer it to ALFA platform, give it a 4-cyl petrol engine and 6-speed torque converter. I might be expecting too much

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Nexon and it’s variants often reminds of a scene from the Hindi movie Dhamaal.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Moving from this variant mayhem, did anyone notice on official Nexon website and brochure, there is no mention of '5-star' safety rating anywhere. But for other TATA models like Altroz, Punch, Tiago etc., there safety ratings are mentioned on their websites and brochures respectively. Attaching link to their brochures:
Nexon: https://cars.tatamotors.com/images/n...d/brochure.pdf
Altroz: https://cars.tatamotors.com/images/a...rochure-lr.pdf
Punch: https://cars.tatamotors.com/images/p...s/brochure.pdf
Tiago: https://cars.tatamotors.com/images/t...d/brochure.pdf

Also, as per this autocar article, Nexon safety rating is applicable till December 2022.

Are these related somehow? Indicating new-gen model? Fingers crossed.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Does engine braking affect the lifespan of turbocharger in a long run? I am used to engine braking in my Hyundai Eon but that being NA engine, i am least bothered. However, i have noticed that engine braking is not same in Turbo mated engines than they are in NA engines.

Every time i downshift in nexon, i get a forward surge maybe due to increase in boost by turbo because of RPM fluctuation.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Hello Everyone,

I would like to share my recent PDI experience. I booked TATA Nexon XZ+ (HS) Petrol Manual on 31st October 2022. SA allotted the vehicle on the same day, sharing the chassis and engine number over email. I requested PDI before the final payment, and he agreed. We reached the stockyard on Monday (7th Nov) around 11 AM.

The location is KHT Prime in Whitefiled, and we can see not just TATA but Jeep and Fiat vehicles coming here for service. The 4 storied building hosts hundreds of vehicles. Our PDI vehicle is on the rooftop. The journey to the rooftop from the ground floor is not easy. Three massive service elevators can hold the Jeep compass easily in them. The SA was surprised to see 2 of the three elevators don't go to the top floor (one of them is not willing to close the doors. don't know why). After a good amount of waiting, he took us to the 3rd elevator, which already had a Jeep Compass. The elevator went down first, an employee entered, and now the lift doors close and open again (10% open), and they try to close and bounce back. The SA and the other employee started calling people, asking them to come and open the doors. After 5 minutes, someone cleared the debris in the way of the lift doors so they could be closed. Thankfully, the lift started going up. On the 2nd floor, suddenly the Jeep Compass comes to life with the engine revving. My wife got scared that the car might run over us inside the lift. As soon as the 2nd-floor lift doors were opened, we jumped out of the lift and let the huge compass roll away for service. We are back in the lift and reached the rooftop.

So many vehicles parked nicely, and we found our white Nexon guarded safely with 4 other vehicles on 4 sides. First I checked its VIN, which matched the one in the Allotment mail. It's Oct 2022 make. I looked at all windows and the numbers, and they all matched. So good, so far. We started looking at the paint, looking for scratches and dents. I found a crack near the left headlamp. I took photos of anything which felt out of place. I got inside, and SA started whining about finishing the PDI, how everyone wants to see the car before purchase, and how it's becoming a problem for them. Without minding him, I looked into the glove box and found a red mark on the inside. The beige fabric has some dirt marks on all sides. And here comes the big show, SA gets inside, turns on the engine, and opens the sunroof. It nicely opens, then he presses the closing button, but it doesn't close. It nearly closes and bounces back. He struggled to make it work for the next 15 minutes but couldn't.

The sunroof is not closing. It's bouncing back

The crack near the left headlamp

It wasn't a surprise; I have seen this in a few review videos. I continued looking for more out-of-place stuff. The ODO is just 9km. I slotted all gears, 6th gear is not bouncing back; that's a good thing. I was able to put the reverse with ease, and the rearview camera is working fine. I bought a 12V adapter a day before and used it to test the 12V front socket; it's charging my phone. Apple car play is working, we played songs, called people from the infotainment unit, and people on the other side are happy with the mic quality of Nexon. SA started calling people, complaining about the sunroof, and asked us to leave, as some service people would come and check the issue. I checked the headlamps, fog lamps, indicators, and vipers (front and back) and checked if seat belts were bucking in at all 5 slots. All good. Now I go back and open the boot, and I find the spare tire holding metal section has some white coating at the edges.

We were puzzled by the white glue/paint/cream near the edges

As it was very sunny, and we also felt like we had checked almost all the major stuff, we left the place; I sent all the photos to SA, asking him to resolve them. My BIL, co-brother and friends told me the crack in the front near the headlamp was not paint fault, its certain damage, which was not covered up well. Everyone suggested we reject the car, and I felt it was unsafe to go with the car, which had damage right in the front.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Tata Nexon price increased :
Nexon xz+ (Diesel/Bhopal) before 1159900 now 1169900.
Increased by 10k. This price is very close to Maruti Grand Vitara : Delta variant.
Not sure about other variants, Very less information available about price hike.

The sealent in the boot is standard for all cars and not at all a manufacturing defect or fault. And from what i see the headlamp doesnot have a crack but there is some minor crack on the bumper paint.

The only real issue that i see is the sunroof closing issue which might be some sensor or something stuck in the runners that prevents it from closing.

Personally, i feel all these are minor issues and if the car is fine otherwise just accept delivery. Some amount of give and take needs to be there is what I feel.

So - the Nexon now comes with the tool-kit in this weird black fiber "bag" thing? If yes - I should start taking care of my Styrofoam storage bin a lot more . What an intelligent place to cut costs. Hardly anybody will pay attention.
