Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Key Motors, Kanakapura Road, is in the news for selling a repainted/refurbished car to a genuine customer. As usual, the dealer was not willing to accept his mistake and even kept aside the consumer court judgment. I thought of sharing this on our forum. This incident again shows how the after-sales teams of OEMs prefer to get kickbacks and ignore such frauds by dealerships.

To summarize the Kannada content, the new car had suffered accidental damages on the co-driver side and rear end, fuel was leaking into AC ducts, and brake malfunctioning, which caused the failure of AMT. The A-pillar, fenders, and boot door were reworked and repainted; rusting issues were found at these spots. The buyer was no layman to be fooled and happened to be a doctorate holder in engineering.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

[Nexon - Petrol - XMA] I have finished the 3 1st year services on time. I missed the general checkup at 1.5 months in December due to personal circumstances. I can give it now (mid-March) or just give for the annual service in June. There are no problems with the vehicle as of today.

1. If I directly give it in June for the 2nd Annual service by skipping this general service, will it impact the warranty? I have taken extended warranty.

2. I'm planning to do a trip from Bangalore to Udupi and back next month, other than that only local commutes. So I'm thinking if I should get the general checkup. But again will have to do the annual service in June.

Suggestions?

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

The driver-side seatbelt is missing the button that keeps the male buckle in place, causing it to slide down to the bottom. This makes it inconvenient to pull up and use every time.

I've been dealing with this minor but annoying issue for the past five years. Car accessory shops haven’t offered any solution besides suggestion to sew a regular button there to hold the buckle in place. Can anyone suggest a better fix?

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Hello!

I have been a proud owner of the Tata Nexon XM since 2021 and have driven close to 37k kms.

A few days ago, my right low beam went out, and I replaced it with a pair of Bosch Halogen headlights. 55W.

Yesterday, I obtained a pair of H7 Nighteye LED lights. The lights fit, but the weather casing did not fit. Hence, I am back again searching for a decent pair of LED lights, not too costly too.

I am looking to change the low beam. So, suggestions welcome please!

I picked up Autobhan 4300 lumen LED based on suggestions.

https://autobahntechnologies.com/aut...led-headlight/

This is the link. It fits well and the weather casing also closes without problem. Else, aftermarket weather covers are available from specific manufacturers.

The new LEDs made a big difference as the light throw is far superior to the stock ones.

Hope this helps.

Hi Birdie, Thanks!

I went with this one from Macbot. (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B09MFSY8QX?...fed_asin_title).

To me it definitely seems like a decent upgrade from the stock halogens and it fit the Nexon's housing properly as well. Only time will tell about the build quality and longevity.

Cheers!

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Recently I started driving my brother's Nexon XM (2019). Had been driving Ecosport (2014) before that. Right after getting the car I had to get FOB made as had lost the original one and was left with only manual key. I also had aftermarket Multimedia player installed (Unplug T400). There are couple of features of Ecosport that I find missing in Nexon. I am not sure if these are default function of Nexon or came after installation of multimedia player/ getting new FOB made and mapped.

1. Nexon doors do not auto lock once you start driving -whatever be the speed. In Ecosport, all doors used to auto lock once speed went over 20Kmph. Have explored setting but haven't found any yet.

2. In Ecosport, if car was not locked headlights used to remain on. This let me know if I had forgotten to lock the car. Is there any such setting in Nexon?

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

So far am yet to come across any horror stories of Tatas DCA transmission. While this is purely anecdotal, I hope this is a fact.

A reliable and refined transmission (compared to AMT) has opened up a new segment for Nexon.

Hi,

I have owned a XZA+ Nexon since 2019. Have excellent driving experience with it so far.

However one issue was always a concern since year one. I started seeing rusting on the front hood even before completing 1st year. And it was significant rusting, visible at the bolt joints. Had raised a complaint which the TASS recommended to resolve by painting. I refused a paint job and insisted for a proper resolution. After escalating the matter, Tata Motors approved replacement of the full hood panel. Although this was resolved well, I had a feeling of subpar steel quality or treatment, which could cause rust so soon.

Over time, in last 3-4 years, I have seen rusting at many different places all over the body and also inner-side of metal panels. Especially at joint areas.

Have got it promptly rectified by paint job (since car is out of warranty)

This is my first Tata. Earlier cars were different brands. Never had such issues with any of my previous cars, which I usually own for about 7-8 years, each.

Not sure what other owners have felt about the body getting rusted.

I see that the central console Tambour door is cracking apart at the folding points now, after about 6 years, in my Nexon XZA+. Looks like the rubber / silicon polymer gets hardened over time and loses its flexibility.

TASS recommended to replace the entire central console module, since there is no provision to replace only the sliding door part of it. Approx cost will be 7K.

Any suggestions from fellow BHPians who may have similar experience or an alternate resolution is welcome.

Thanks.

When I bought the Nexon in 2017, the doors would Autolock when 20+ KMPH speed was achieved.

Post the 5 Star safety recognition they gave a software upgrade which killed this feature. The doors needed to open in case of crash.

I really missed this feature, but I couldn't go back to earlier version

Thats disappointing, I am totally out of habit of manually locking the doors when driving off.

Any inputs on whether there is any setting to leave soft headlights on if the car is not locked - atleast for some set minutes?

Also, is there a way to configure only the driver side door to open with single click on FOB unlock key and all doors only when double clicked?
