Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Guys finally took the delivery of my Calgary White dual tone Nexon Petrol over the weekend and i am so excited and happy to say the least. The experience so far has been briallaint with the dealer and they made sure i don't have any regrets. So here is the sequence of events which took place at the dealership.

1.I went to the dealership on a saturday afternoon and took my family along to make this occasion more memorable. The sales rep who i was in contact with is a thorough gentleman and he received me and my family wholeheartedly and i felt he was eagerly waiting.

2. Once we reached he made sure me and my family is seated comfortably in the lounge as it would take some time with the paperwork to complete.

3. After discussing insurance details and ownership documents he suggested i get the insurance done on my own as they were quoting a much higher price for the premium. Not only that they gave me a few contact details of the people who are into insurance field.Kudos for that.

4. After all the paperwork was done they surprised me and my family by presenting a cake as a token of appreciation. I was really humbled by such a great gesture and i wish many such dealers come up in near future to really make a customer feel so special.

5. My parents did the honors to cut the cake and we shared it with the whole staff.

6. Now comes the big moment as we all were escorted to the display area and the owner of the dealership presented the big dummy key to my parents with a smile on their face.

7. After all the fanfare i was given a demo of the car once more, not that i didn't know about its features but they insisted i take another demo which i didn't mind after getting my hands on the car for the first time.

8. After a detailed demo i decided to have a look at the accessories section to finalize the floor mats and all that. Suddenly the sales rep came to the section and told me i am being given the rubber matting, mud flaps, car perfume and a nice key chain as a complimentary gift from the dealer which added to my joy. Not only that the logistic charges were waived off instantly when i told them about it without any fuss. I got carpet mats in addition to the rubber mats though.

9. Once the car was ready after i made an inspection thanks to Team BHP checklist i was informed about the P2P maintenance policy for the car and i had detailed discussion regarding the same. Finally i took a 4 year 45k kms warranty P2P policy costing about 6600/- which i feel was a great deal as it will give me a peace of mind for the next 4 years. There was a scheme for 2 year P2P policy which would save me about 40% cost of the policy but i decided to take a 4 year plan which makes more sense.

All in all it has been a great experience so far with the dealer as not even once i felt i am at a brand which does not have a great record with customer service. The dealer gave me a discount of about 10000/- out of which i took the matting and a car vacuum cleaner for just 3000/- but still i got a great deal. I was offered a discount of about 6000/- for insurance too if i get it done with them but still i felt it was a bit expensive.

Check the pics below at the showroom as well as of the car after the mild wash thanks to unexpected rain. I am the one wearing a white shirt standing on the left side next to the car,

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Congratulations Syed !

I too feel Tata motors is working hard to improve there image and services. I have noticed that when I had few issues with my Tiago AMT. Sending a mail to there customer care was good enough for them to pitch in with the dealer.

Good luck and drive safe!

Many congratulations on your new baby Syed.

Glad to see you finally taking the delivery after initial skepticism. Your Nexon looks fantastic with grey tones.

I wish you happy mile crunching and great experience. Drive safe.

Test drove the petrol XZA today. I'd driven the Tiago XZA the previous week. The quality on the Nexon is even better. Feels solid, inside and out.

The AMT with the turbocharger seems to be a nice combo with better drivability and lesser jerks. The sports mode and city mode were nice to drive in.

Delivery times are around 3 weeks is what I'm told.

I'm very impressed with the overall package and might consider this as a serious option for intended i20 replacement.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Just when I was beginning to think that Tata Service was improving, here is another incident that puts me on alert.
I had got my second service done for the Nexon and was generally feeling happy about everything.
Then the Nexon finished 7000 km and started helpfully reminding me of the second service. After nagging me a couple of times it began showing the service icon on the Driver Information Display.
So it seems that the service center team is not fully trained to remove the service reminder once the service is done or has not done their job correctly.
Which plants the nagging doubt in my mind, what else have they not been trained on to do correctly?

That could be a simple oversight. Write to Tata motors and I feel they will visit your home and reset it.

Congrats on your new ride. Absolutely love the choice of color, always loved in white. White Nexon looks elegant and luxurious.

I remember back when Nexon wasn't launched someone had photoshoped White Nexon by removing its turn signals on headlamp cluster and giving a flat hood. Now that we have better quality pictures of Nexon I tried the same with Syed's Nexon.

Would like to know is the current fascia better or this would attract more people, give better impact?

Were you short by 7k kms when you gave it for the scheduled service? I guess so as you said after 7k kms, it started giving you the reminder.
This is very common and doesn't require any additional skillset by the ASC folks to remove! It pops up when you reach the said kilometers irrespective of when you give it to service. And AFAIK, you cannot remove the alert if it hasn't shown up at all! Just clear it yourself.

Many congratulations syed, the car looks fabulous! Happy motoring!!

Hmm... I see that other cars too have this issue. I might have jumped the gun in blaming the Service Center.
I have cleared it myself.

Procedure to clear the service reminder:
-Change mode so that 0 is displayed. (Indicating that Service is overdue)
-Press both Set and Mode knobs for a few seconds till the 0 starts blinking.
-Press both Set and Mode knobs again to reset the Service Reminder indicator.

However please also consider this Note from Manual:
Never reset the display between service intervals otherwise this may result in to incorrect readings.

Sorry, but this is preposterous complaining. Read the user manual and reset it yourself. It is a simple oversight that has zero effect on the quality of service provided to your vehicle.

It is nothing more than a counter that counts a set number of km after the reset before it starts flashing.
