Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Apple CarPlay upgrade is one of the most significant upgrades for my MiniLandie! Except for Maps (not allowed in India), everything works! Tata Motors was kind enough to intimate me on Aug 15th about its availability, and was the first to receive it. Additionally, There was an ECU upgrade which has made the drive peppier! Now it feels like a really expensive SUV Solid and feature laden!

Yes they are different sizes. The projector unit has a bugger diameter. Just remember the inner diameter is what makes the order perfect. For the Projector unit the inner diameter of the cover is 90mm and for the high beam unit the inner diameter is 80mm. There is a video on YouTube for this I am not sure I can leave the link here.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

I completed 1150KM on ODO and have given for first free service today. I am really loving the vehicle and I have learned to drive an AMT better, still a lot to learn.

I parted with my Hyundai Accent earlier this month with a very very heavy heart. It was only after I sold it, I realise how close that was to me and my heart.

Date of 1st fill - 15th July
Date of 2nd fill - 28th July
KM run - 455KM
Fuel consumed - 32.83 L
Mileage - 455/32.83 = 13.86KMPL.
Mileage recorded by MID - 19.8KMPL :: margin of error is huge which TM has to definitely look into.
Since this refuel, I am driving in CITY mode; after next refuel, I will give the data again.
I crossed 1000 KM in ODO and did the third refill - tank full - and here are the statistics. (above quote has the details of second refill). As I had told earlier, this drive was 100% in CITY mode and what I see is a slight increase in the mileage. I am sure it has nothing to do with the mode or anything, but the fact that I can drive this car better now.
Date of 2nd fill - 28th July
Date of 3rd fill - 14th Aug
KM run - 472.8KM
Fuel consumed - 33.23 L
Mileage - 472.8/33.23 = 14.23KMPL.
Mileage recorded by MID - 19.4KMPL :: margin of error is still huge.
From now, I intended to drive 100% in SPORTS mode and I started doing so, but the gear change is happening at 2500 rpm and I wanted to keep it within 2000 rpm till I cover 2500KM; hence, I am going to drive completely in ECO mode again to see what the mileage is.

Today, I have booked for the first free service and now waiting at the showroom to have the same delivered. I will update once I get the car back on the differences post first service.

I was quoted 500+ taxes for some consumables, when I questioned what these are, SA was saying it is the cotton used for cleaning, wax used for cleaning etc. etc. (mere stupidity) and even without me asking any kind of waiver, he himself offered to "speak to my manager and will get it waived"!!!! WOW!!! Come on TATA, this is heights. I am definitely going to report this in feedback.

I was asked if I need to go for under chassy coating and have opted it as my daily commute route has a lot of muddy water in have to wade through the slush. The quote is 2200/- + tax.

I used the TATA SERVICE APP to schedule my service and the service center was clueless about my booking. There is definitely a lot of scope for improvement on this front. I got multiple SMSs from TM about the upcoming service, but the actual guys on ground who need to do it were not knowing about this booking!!!!

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

My Glasgow Grey Nexon (Diesel) with about 3800 KMs on the ODO developed a 'thud - thud' noise around Front RH Wheel. After checkup and a week of waiting for the part to arrive, the front suspension struts were replaced under warranty.

Were the sounds coming regularly or when going
through pot holes or over speed breakers?

I noticed this issue few times on my car too but it is not happening regularly.

Took TD today of petrol and liked a lot. Which dealer did you buy it from?

Also bit confused about the tyre sizes. It says 215/60 R16 for top variant and 195/60 R16 for others. How can TATA claim same GC with this for all variants? Even the SA was confused with my question. I visited KHT dealer on 100 feet road domlur.

The claimed ground clearance of 209 mm is for 215/60 R16 only. The ground clearance with 195/60 R 16 is less than 200 mm. This fact you can figure out from owners manual too.

That makes sense. The sidewall with the 195 section is 117 mm while with the 215 section it is 129 mm. So the GC gets lowered by 12 mm straight which means that the GC of the 195 section is 197 mm

It would mean that the tyre size 195/60 R16 also increases front tread from 154 cms to 155.2 cms and rear tread from 153 to 154.2 cms .

Track width is the distance from centre of the tyre on each side i.e. left centre to right centre. Front and rear track will be different. It will not change with a different tyre size.

Its started happening when going over pot holes then eventually over rough patches.

Re: Tata Nexon : Official Review

Due to budget limits I may plan to go for XM petrol. Few questions to fellow Bhpians.

1. Does anybody know if the rear view camera can be added from dealership as after market accessory?
2. What is the maintenance cost per year on average? This may not be a fully valid question yet since Nexon is pretty young in market. (SA mentioned 5-6K)
3. What all accessories are available for Nexon?
4. I found the 3 cylinder petrol engine good but vibrates a bit. Did not try by loading 5 passengers. Did anybody try that?

1. Yes, it can be installed. It's available as an official accessory.
2. If you buy an AMC for three years maintenance cost is 5.5 K per year. Negotiating at the time of purchase could save you something on the AMC costs too.
3. A quick search on Youtube could help you. THere are few good videos detailing out the available official accessories.
4. The petrol motor has more than enough power to pull 5 people with their luggage.

I own a Nexon XM Petrol since last 2 months

Track does change with different tyre size. I suggest you to go through the official website of Maruti Swift .Here for ZXI variant the front and rear track is 1520 mm (185/65 R15 ) where as for LXI variant the front and rear track is 1530 mm ( 165/80 R 14). Similarly the track in nexon XM is wider for 195/60 R16 than that of 215/60 R 16 variant. If the track does not change then total width will go on changing which would alter many things.
