Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

Dear RS'ers,
All of you here who own the RS, do you mind sharing any niggles that you may have faced till now? Be it engine oil evaporation, coolant issues, rattling noises, any others? Also, one of my friend who owns an RS was complaining about the headlights, he is not at all satisfied with them at night and especially in rains. Being a full LED unit, there isn't much scope I presume to change the bulbs or ballasts, and its best not to tinker with a brand new car as well. Are others also of the thought that headlights needed to be brighter? It could just be an alignment issue too.

Thank you very much! I should have the car by the end of this month, but the wait is killing

I do not have any information on the fuel specifications for the RS 245. I tried to find it online, but couldn't find anything about it either.
I suspect that it is no different from the RS 230 variant, and will say RON 95 is the minimum, but will only be able to confirm once I receive my car.

On another note, does anyone know exactly which DSG box is used in the RS 245?
Since it is a 7 speed box, as opposed to the 6 speed of the RS 230, I suspect that it is the DQ500, but could not find anything online to confirm this.
I have also sent an email to the sales rep at the Skoda showroom asking him the same question.

Cheers

95 RON is minimum specification for the RS245.

As for the gearbox, I cannot comment for the Indian market though I doubt if it will be different. In New Zealand, the car is offered in 6 and 7 speed DSG gearbox. The 169 kilowatt model gets the 6 speed and the 180 kilowatt model gets the 7 speed. Both are hydraulic single dry clutch disc (Twin coaxial wet multiple-disc clutch, electro-hydraulically operated).

The 7-DSG on the RS245 has got to be the DQ380. Also does duty on the Tiguan TDI and the Kodiaq TDI.

Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

The Kodiaq comes with the DQ 500, not the DQ 380 and the RS with the DQ 381.

Thank you very much for clarifying on the specification! That's exactly what I thought.

Neither can I. I'm getting the car in Belgium

As clarified by AMG Power, it is the DQ381 that does duty in the RS 245.

Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

A question to all vRS owners, which fuel have you been using in your car w.r.t. the octane rating ?

I guess this was up for discussion during the initial launch. There must be some owners who are using the car in cities where only standard RON 91 is available so it would be helpful to know if you have made any conclusions on the merits/de-merits pertaining to your choice of fuel.

Thanks

Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

Folks: I wanted to buy vRS and posted a message on the chat window of Skoda in their website. There was a prompt response from the help desk team and they informed that they no longer sell/take bookings for vRS. I am told they imported limited nos (300) and all are sold at this time. They do not have a definite time frame for the fresh lot.

Regular fuel does a good job, i try to fill only from coco pumps. With power99 there is certain bump in power delivery, refinement and mileage. I fill power99 once every 5th refuel or whenever I can.

Congratulations

Can you click pictures from a few more angles under different light conditions so that we can get a better idea of the paint shade.

Also a few closeup pictures of those outstanding rims please

Congrats Joxster on owning the fastest Octy out there!

The car looks lovely in flesh and the rims are oh-so drool worthy

Please do share some more pictures. And I will be most probably in Mechelen next week for some office work, so will try and meet up, if that's ok.

Unfortunately it is a snowy day today, so the car is parked in the garage. I will click more pictures of the car and the rims in different lighting conditions when possible.

I should mention that the rims are not in the color that I selected, and that is thanks to a screw-up from Skoda. However, the rims I selected are on their way to the showroom, and will be fitted on the car in a couple of days. These pictures are taken off of Google, but will give you an idea about how it would change the look of the car.

Will PM you about this.

It depends of course on what kind of road you're driving on, but the maximum is 120 kmph, which is only on the highways. In the Flanders region, when there is no speed limit defined, then you drive at 70 kmph, and in the Wallonia region, when there is no speed limit defined, then you drive at 90 kmph.

However, I would also legally be able to test the top speed of my car, thanks to the German Autobahns being just a 90 minute drive away. I'm sure that I will be able to experience what it is like to drive at 250 kmph on a public road very soon!

Cheers
