On my first service, the service manager told that they will manage the tire rotation during services.

Not a proper fix to the problem - this will disable the security alarm too if the beeper is totally disconnected. I was looking for a 'software' solution where we can disable the annoying beeps during lock & unlock and still arm the alarm just in case of a burglary attempt.

Has anyone driven the newly launched 1.4 petrol version?

I've been seeing so many of these new Vernas on the road in Chennai (on average 3-4 a day) and I must say they this new model looks very regal. The black one especially looks 'diplomatic'. The orange on the other hand, :eek: In my view, probably the best sedan in its segment.

How about the red? :)

Test drove the Verna for a second time today.

The SX variant was the one which was provided. The engine refinement and power delivery is at a different level. However the cabin is a real disappointment when compared with other comparably priced options like City , Ciaz and Scross. Creta has much better seats albeit at a slight premium. Verna scores in stability and handling though compared to Creta

The seat squab for driver's seat was kinda sort and under thigh support just average. Without adjustable headrest and the low seating position the rear seat was disappointment. I guess the seats in some compact sedans and even the pre-fluidic are more comfortable than this

The SA was very helpful though. He did a good job of explaining the features and the strengths of the product.

Hyundai is going all out on sales for this product. There is also an assured buyback scheme for the car @ 70% of initial cost after 3 years as long as the running is within 45000 km. Think this is a segment first feature !!!

Overall one was left wishing that the cabin was a bit better. The car ticks all the other boxes but I can't live with that cabin !!!

6th gear in VTVT is an absolute boon while cruising. Mileage can vary between 11-13 KMPL in B2B traffic. However cruising on a highway in 90-100 KMPH, 6th gear will ensure the engine is relaxed. So expect anything between 17-19 KMPH.

I have the 1.6 SX variant, MT Petrol.
Mumbai traffic, around 10-12km a day, with AC, we're getting around 7-8KM/l.

Let me guess - you must be a tall guy. If you are 5'10 or more, you will find the rear headroom a challenge on account of the swooping coupe-like design. However, it is this design that makes the Verna a stunning outlier.

I too had discounted the cabin space, with the City being more spacious, and the Ciaz actually resembling a room. But on closer inspection, the rear seat angle and width delivers the comfort that actually surprises - even on long drives. It is enormously comfortable, and doesn't leave you missing for space. Maybe the six-footers will have a problem, but most of the people will be quite satisfied.

The design, feature list and the detailing makes this cougar really something. Anyways, hope you hit upon your ideal car soon :)

Absolutely! The black one is a stunner and a charmer. I have one :)

And like i read somewhere day before, you don't own the black car - it owns you. Couldn't agree more!

On the AT, i get about:
* 10-11 in bad traffic. May dip a bit now since the AC will be switched on all the time
* 15 in decent traffic when you can engage the cruise control frequently
* 17 over a long door-to-door outstation trip in the plains
* 19 when on a good highway (this one with no cruise as I was still running-in the engine at a sub-1k reading)

Looking at the figure to swell a bit once I cross 5k, or after the second service.

Getting about 9-10 kmpl in slow moving traffic

Will the petrol MT Verna be as reliable as a comparable Jap sedan for the next 7 to 10 years min if maintained properly? Have any existing old Verna owners faced any expensive repairs not related to accidents etc?

My family also owned the verna 2 generations before, petrol. It was quite reliable in the period of 5 years without any major repair cost. Our running was mainly in the city with occasional highway runs.

With the current verna and loads of electronics on board we are yet to see how reliable they are and the costs associated.

Just curious, if reliability is the concern then why not the Honda City?
Icing on the cake will be the lusty 1.5L i-vtec.

Some concerns have been expressed on the braking prowess of Verna. Are there any aftermarket solutions that can remedy this?

From where did you get this information? Are the complaints on new gen Verna?
