In fact, was thinking of getting an XUV first. Budget isn’t a constraint. Have been driving a Scorpio (2009) and an Endy AT (2011) all these years. I’m 6 feet (77kg) tall and my wife 5 10”. Have a 2 year old who is used to the generous cabin space. Will it be too cramped? I am not in India currently, hence the questions.

Let me see if they have a TD car in that shade. Looks good to me, at least in pictures !

According to my understanding, the warranty is 2 year standard + extended warranty for the 3rd year! Actually wanted to know if there any option to buy a 2 year extended warranty (2+2) instead of (2+1)?

Why so ? The HDFC girl said it allows cashless claims, but not the United India. The ford dealer has already agreed for the insurance from outside.

Yes you can go for 2+2 years of warranty. I have opted for the same.

I will be taking the insurance from outside.
If I take from outside, HDFC Ergo quotes around Rs.33k and New India Rs.20k, both Bumper to Bumper. Now my questions,
  • Does my choice of vehicle make sense?
  • I liked the Canyon Ridge shade. Any one on this shade ? Otherwise, might have to choose from black or white.
  • Which insurance should I go in for ? My mind says HDFC - private = faster and trouble free service !
  • The quoted on-road price includes 3rd year warranty with RSA. Is there any option to extend the warranty for anymore years ? Is there any need for it ?

Thanks in advance.
I just bought Titanium+ Diesel, so can answer your questions well. KL price is much lesser (about 70k) compared to Bangalore, probably due to road tax difference.
I strongly suggest take insurance outside. You will save a lot of money. I checked directly with Ford India and also with dealer, and they confirmed HDFC Ergo is not having tie up. Ford mentioned Royal Sundaram, Bajaj Allianz, Iffco Tokio and New India Insurance as official tie up insurance providers who provide cashless claim. Same was confirmed by dealer too. So i took with Royal Sundaram which provides unlimited claims. So you can go for that.

To answer your questions:

1) Definitely Yes, EcoSport makes lot of sense. However, please keep in mind it is not a very spacious car but an extremely well built car. It is indeed good for 4 adults + a child. Not 5 adults.
2) It is good for sure, but i agree with @PriceRed, you really have to see in person so that you don't have another opinion after 2 to 3 years. If in doubt, better go with other colors that always pleases you irrespective of time.
3) Among the four i mentioned above, 3 are private and is hassle free. Go with whoever gives best quote. Do insist for discount explicitly. They will do it for sure.
4) Ford provides 2 years standard warranty + 2 years additional warranty now. I purchased for 4 years and i recommend that to you as well.

Good luck with your purchase

I have made cashless claims on HDFC for the EcoSport. Found them in general to be lowest cost without losing out on anything. I take Zero Dep.

Thanks ACM, That helps to know.
For my purchase, i found Royal Sundaram was cheapest compared to HDFC Ergo for Zero Dep insurance. No idea why there is difference. May be it differs city to city?

I took delivery of my Lightening Blue, Titanium Plus AT yesterday.

It's been a pleasure to drive it around.

I've got the following accessories
  1. Mudflaps
  2. Trunk Mat
  3. 3M Paint Protection Flim for ORVM and handle cups
  4. 3M Nomad mats

Congratulations !
Assuming you to have test driven the 1.5 diesel, could you comment on the fun-to-drive aspect in comparison to the petrol AT ? How many kilometers have driven so far and what FE, on average, does it return currently ?

I am undecided between Titanium+ diesel and Titanium+ petrol AT.

I haven't driven the diesel.
I shouldn't be quoting fuel efficiency so early.

I've done only 40kms now. The MID shows 5.5kmpl.

I'll wait for the next tankfill to see what the mileage is.

Would someone be so kind as to post the width of the rear seat? Want to make a direct comparison with the rear seat of my wagonr; while it will be rarely used with more than 4 people, i would feel a bit better about my decision if I'm getting a bit more space after spending 3x the wagonr (granted it's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison in many ways).
I am almost certain to buy the T+ AT with the only thing i dislike being the instrument cluster. It's like the designer was just done drawing up the needle and numbers and their sheet was snatched away from them immediately.

I'll measure it tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, take a look at the illuminated instrument cluster.
It looks good to me when turned on.

Thanks a lot!

Yes it does look better turned on; by the way does it remain illuminated at all times while the car is on like in the brio? If yes then it would definitely make it much more lively than what's going on with its lights off.

EDIT: Oh and a hearty congratulations on your new car! Drive safe.

Yes, it's always illuminated while driving, even during the day. You can also change the brightness of the instrument console.

If it had been a case like VW or Baleno where they don't have variant codes at all. In case of Maruti, they now have ZXi and ZXi + for Dzire and Ciaz, Tata cars also come equipped with the + badge now. IIRC Hyundai and Maruti used to offer the optional features (O) along with the variant and not showcase it as a separate variant. So maybe a different badge is not warranted .

Congratulations on your acquisition! Wish you many many safe miles and a pleasant ownership experience. Will look forward to an initial ownership review once you have a few kms under your belt.

P.S: The illuminated cluster does look good! Thanks for sharing.
