Re: 2018 Ford EcoSport Facelift 1.5L Petrol : Official Review

Took delivery of Titanium variant about a month ago, sharing pics and some of the extras added
  • Wheel Arches
  • 3D Mats
  • Primacy 4 ST Tyres
  • Leather Seat Cover by Karlsson

I had also purchased the spare wheel cover but faced a lot of niggles like shoddy paint quality and subsequently the clamp breaking so I returned it for a refund.

Initial impressions is that the car is super fun to drive but the heavy weight makes its presence felt, the engine could do with another 10 or 20 bhp

Had an opportunity to drive through severe rains and road holding and handling was really great

FE is a little low initially and I hope it improves, getting around 7-8 in stop go traffic and 13 on highways

Congratulations on the new car. Wish you lots of miles and happy motoring.

Those seat covers look awesome. What was the pocket pinch?

Never a fan of wheel arches, but in your case it actually looks good. Any more wider and it would have been ugly, IMO.

The stock ones on my car are worn out, with their stupid alloy cap, and i don't want to be stuck on the road with a flat.. when that happens.
Even my alignment guy has been having trouble removing them for the past 2 times..
This is a problem in all Ford's with alloy wheels. The cap design on the wheel nut is ridiculous and using pneumatic tools causes them to deform. I had this issue on my Figo and eventually bought 19mm bolts from the aftermarket to replace all the stock bolts.

They were fine, but about 6-7 months later when I was selling the car, I noticed these bolts were starting to rust on the surface.

I would recommend you get replacement bolts from outside in the same 19mm size but watch out for the quality. The cheap chrome plating done tends to rust.

The other option is to get the decorative chrome covers removed from the stock bolts and buy a new 18mm size spanner.

Even I was not too happy with some pictures I saw online but my house gate is to the right of where car is parked and I need to take a sharp turn to go out and almost all cars I have scratched the rear right wheelwell which is why I added the cladding for protection, luckily it doesnt look too bad

The tyre dealer I went to to get tyres replaced did mention never to use anything than the tyre iron which Ford provides to remove nuts, thanks for validating that

Thanks a lot, you've been very helpful. I've been eyeing steel nuts on AliExpress as well as the local market, but at the auto scene isn't that happening where i live.
Can i get any 19 mm 12x1.5 nut, or do i have to watch out for the thread config as well??

Friends,

I have TPMS in my Ecosport and want to do wheel balancing, rotation and alignment. Can I do this job outside the Ford service centre? Can outside centre do TPMS recalibration after wheels rotation?

Ford EcoSport BS6 spied on test,

Ford will be updrading the 1.5-litre Dragon engine and the ubiquitous 1.5-litre diesel motor to meet BS6 norms. But the Petrol variant will get a change.

The 1litre Ecoboost will be replaced by Mahindra's 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that also sees duty on the XUV300 compact SUV as part of the collaboration the two auto brands that was first announced back in 2017.

Yes, you can do it outside Ford service centre. I have done it and there should be no problem.

I checked the Ecosport Petrol titanium plus today. Doesn't come with apple car play and Android auto. Has a sunroof, no BSVI engines yet. Interior is like beige in color. The above two features are crucial. What timelines does Ford have to introduce BSVI compliant Ecosport? Without proper communication how do they expect customers to buy their vehicles. The dragon engine was good to drive in city though.

The TPMS does not need any re-calibration after rotation. Just re-set it from the MID and you are good to go (confirmed personally on my car).
