Re: Tata Harrier : Official Review

I went for a test drive. Drove the top end XZ variant. Since most of the members have already mentioned about almost all aspects of Harrier, I wonder if anyone noticed the boot of Harrier. If you remove the cover, there is a provision (image attached) to add 2 child size seats, making it a 7 seater car. As per the salesman, those extra seats are available from the dealer end I am not sure if Tata provides it as an accessory as well.

Mods: I checked the Official review, but couldn't find this particular feature. Kindly remove if anyone else already has mentioned about it beforehand.

Re: Tata Harrier : Official Review

That is new information. Thank you for sharing. I remember the erstwhile Range rover sport having a similar configuration. Since Harrier is based on the D8 architecture that disco sport and range rover sport were based, I would assume this facility comes built in as part of that architecture. And Tata may have never bothered to remove it, since they anyway have plans for seven seater Harrier. But it sure was not advertised with Harrier.

I saw these supports also on the Harrier when I had gone to see it. However if seats are put here, there will be zero legroom and it is not doable. Also, adding jump seats to a car which has been approved as a 5 seater is illegal (even Duster was stopped because of this). However it is legal to make a car and get it approved as 7 seater and then remove two seats to make it a 5 seater (like triber has done). The new Buzzard/ Cassini is likely to also have an extended wheelbase and also increased roof height at the rear to release better legroom and headroom for the passengers.

Yes had seen this couple of months back when I checked out the car. However - everyone loves kids. And anyone who loves kids should NOT put seats there and compromise on safety.

Its a vehicle certified for 5 people and thats what it should be used as. Seats themselves are a vital component in the overall safety provided by the car and any aftermarket fitments are always a risk. There is no provision for seatbelts - an absolute must for kids. Any child small enough to fit in what is going to be the space in this car - should be sitting in a proper belted & secured child-seat and not directly in a jump seat at all.

I hope they don't sell this "accessory" for money putting people's safety in danger. And I hope people don't opt for this. Anyone who needs more seats - should buy a car that actually has those already! Its simple. They should get a Hexa or an Ertiga.

Anyway - adding seats in a 5 seater car (specifically registered on the RC too) is illegal & the refreshed fines hopefully will prevent this from happening.

No. The Cassini and the Harrier share the same wheelbase. The only difference between the two is the rear overhang which is more in case of the Cassini. Also Tata has used a stepped roof just like Safari to increase the rear headroom for the 3rd row. Still whatever Tata has done is not going to improve the comfort of 3rd row passengers and the Cassini is still a more of a 5+2 Harrier. Those looking for a true 7 seater are better off with the Hexa,Crysta etc.

One more thing. Due to the use of stepped roof, the Cassini won't be getting a panoramic sunroof like the Harrier.

Re: Tata Harrier : Official Review

KHT Motors in Bangalore is apparently running some offers on the Hexa and Harrier as per a marketing SMS that I received from them yesterday. They claim benefits of up to Rs 68,000 on booking of the Harrier. The contact number provided on the SMS is 7303763041.

Is the Harrier really going to get a panoramic sunroof? When if yes?

Yes. Mostly with the BS6 upgrade. Also it will get 170hp engine, automatic gearbox.

Other changes in the development are trimmed ORVM's and different looking alloys.

Re: Tata Harrier : Official Review

Hopefully they will change their infotainment system that has driven most owners insane with software updates after software updates that don't fix anything. Most owners are vocal on social media and now there are videos about the system going haywire. One owner claims his system was replaced twice yet the problem is still unresolved. Problem ranges from anything between system refusing to play anything, system stuck in startup logo, all the switches lighting up(including Driving modes, ac, Terrain Response switchgear) while none of them are working. I noticed this only after an owner reached out to me on Youtube. He has now posted multiple videos showing the same. Other owners are raising complaint on twitter by tagging Harrier Club handle.

Re: Tata Harrier : Official Review

This is the guy I'm in touch with. I asked him to post some videos of it. He claims his infotainment system was acting weird since purchase 3 months ago. Has made 8 to 9 trips to TASS after which the company decided to replace his unit not once but twice and its still doing these. You can read description in each video for confirmation.

I looked up this issue last 2 weeks and he's not alone. Not sure if I can link tweets here but if anyone wants I can pm them.

Re: Tata Harrier : Official Review

I cannot fathom why such things keep happening with Tata vehicles. They make such lovely designs viz Sierra, Safari, now Harrier. I remember once I was in my vehicle at a closed railway crossing and a car adjacent to me was a brand new Indica and suddenly I saw overheating smoke from its engine bay. I mean to say leave aside complex electronics why can't they ensure and double check that all nuts and bolts and various connections are properly secured. Don't think there is any extra cost involved in it but just callous attitude. Just fix these small things at factory level and see the people lap up their Harrier and other cars.

Harrier is registered as a 5-seater SUV. Adding two more seats can be seen as illegal. have heard people doing similar stuff in Duster. I doubt you can do that.

Re: Tata Harrier : Official Review

Oops I was not aware of the fact that the Buzzard shown at Geneva was shod with 19 inch wheels. I thought its 18 because the production model is coming with 18 inchers for sure.
