Oh it’s interesting that XUV ergo is not suitable. One more option is Alcazar, facelift is around the corner. If you are looking for Petrol AT, check out this post - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offic...ml#post5748908 (MG Hector : Official Review)

Here’s the video, happy car hunting !

Hi, has anyone replaced brakepads from outside MG? Dealership gave a quote for 18k inr for both front and back brake pads replacement. It's an MG Hector 2021 CVT Petrol Sharp with just 19k kms done.

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

Got my Hector 2019 petrol tyres changed at 40k kms. The factory fitted Goodyears were performing poorly and I was looking for a change.

The stock tyre dimension was 215/60/r17 which I was considering upsizing to 235/55/r17.

I eventually went ahead with the Michelin primacy 4st 215, 11k per tyre

235 would have added grip and better looks but it would have led to lower mileage and steering would be bit heavier. Plus it was 3.5k more expensive per tyre.

Initial feedback -
1. Car glides over everything effortlessly - no noise, greatly reduces thuds and bumps inside cabin
2. the steering is much lighter
3. performance is slightly better than old goodyears
4. mileage remains to be seen, but these tyres are lighter and supposed to be marginally better

I can't believe how much better the experience is with these new tyres

MG Hector Brake Pads

Hey Everyone - I'm new here and I hope I'm posting this in the right place. Apologies if not.

I've got a 2021 MG Hector Sharp CVT petrol that's run 19k kms in 3 years. During the 5th service, I was informed that I'll need to change the brake pads for both the front and rear. The service advisor said that it'll cost 8500rs + 500rs (labour charge) for each set. When I told my friends about this, they said it costs half the amount for their cars (XUV700).

While I don't want to cheap out on these things, I also don't want to be taken for a ride. So could you please let me know if I can use brake pads from manufacturers like Bosch (can get it done for 5k) etc? Or should I stick to MG's brake pads?

If I can go for an after-market option, are there any specific brands that I should consider and stay away from? And, are there any reputed garages in Kochi where I can get this done?

This is my first car hence the questions. Thanks for reading :-)

Have a question regarding the carlinkkit, while it works flawlessly I see that being connected to the always on USB port the device is also on. Wonder if this will result in battery drain over a period of time.

Sorry for late reply. My team-bhp membership just got approved. Please ask your service center to replace it for free. They have option to replace it till 30k kms. You can try other service center as well.

May I ask why they would replace it for free? As far as I know, they are wear and tear items not subject to any warranty.

Yes they are. But I had a conversation with service head of Ludhiana few years back and he claimed that company does replace them free of cost under 30k kms because that is what their ideal life should be. Mine had crossed 32k by then and was not covered. A lot of water has flown down the river by then. You can give it a shot and be a little agressive. Also, officially break pads have to be changed after every 30k kms only

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

I would like to share my ownership experience with MG Hector Sharp Diesel
I bought it in Oct 2019
The delivery experience was most pathetic i had ever seen. Due to some technical failures in their system the showroom was unable to verify the payment reciept ( they were adamant that if i had opted a loan from their agent, this problem would not arise). After hours of waiting we headed home without delivery even after full payment. On my way back i recieved a call that the owner of showroom had asked for the car to be delivered. A terrible terrbile experience that sucked all the fun out of owning a new car )
50000km down the line and i had to get my clutch plate replaced (the clutch had gotten much harder). The service head insisted on replacing flywheel as well which costed a bomb.
The car itself was great except that terrible black plastic around gearbox that always made a noise.
However I always faced issues on hill driving. The car would start jerking and stalling on uphills (never faced such issues in my Innova Crysta)
Now another disappointment. At 60k, I went to Kirti Nagar Service Center and the guy quoted Rs. 50000! for service. He was talking about some belts to be changed. I drove to Ludhiana. Fortunately they serviced it for 18000 and said the belt changing is optional.
Completely disappointed with the experience I finally sold it off.

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

Friends!!

Our Hector Sharp DCT 2020 BS6 has done about 40K kms now.

What we love :
- Sheer comfort, space.
- Fit & Finish inside is still mint.
- Boot space has been a life saver
- Ride is still plush
- Sound system still beats new kids in the block.
- Driving in city is a bliss.
- Feel its more subtly styled than the subsequent facelifts, which (the chrome spalsh in grill) we didn't quite like

What is pinching :
- Engine has gone sluggish to super sluggish.
- Mileage has gone from bad to worse.
- Occasional electrical issues have been cropping up

Wanted to check if there are similar observations around.

Have started scoping new cars in the 25-30L bracket. Preferably Diesel, since it'll gets to 2K km+ per month easily.
Any reccomendations ?

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

Within 40000Kms, what caused your car to have progressively a sluggish engine and consequently a poor fuel economy? Is there something wrong with the car?
Engines don't usually wear out within 40K.

Thats what they're not able to figure out.
I've been the only driver and my style hasnt changed much, probably became more rational.
Where I used to get 8-9/kmpl in city and about 11ish highways (all AC on), it is hovering around 4-6/kmpl on an average.

There was a EPB issue, for which they had to change the entire EPB assembly. When it came back from that repair, there was a ton of abnormality - brake lost its bite, accelerator became lifeless and there was a significant engine noise - as if the sport mode is always on.

They took it back to service center again, but of no help. Issues still continue.

Re: MG Hector : Official Review

I have my eyes on a 97k kms run 2021 hector sharp 2.0 diesel.
The car has been meticulously maintained by the owner.
It apparently has gotten it's first brake pad and tyre change at 80k kms so we know how it's been driven.

What kind of maintenance and it's costs am i looking at in the near future?

Timing belt
Clutch
Suspension overhaul
Engine mounts
Wheel bearings

These parts are bound to be replaced around this mileage. How easy is it to find parts outside the service centre. And how much would the SVC charge me for these aprox?

My 2020 Hector Petrol is due for its 4th year service ie. 6th service technically.
I had bought the Classic 5 year plan, so all my service were free until now. But this service would be my 1st paid service.

So can someone please enlighten what all things would be changed and tentative cost for the same.
