Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

I have the subscription, and I do get the notification when the doors are not locked. You need to have the app installed with notifications from the app enabled.

What year and variant is it? I do have the app installed and notifications on. The car is a 2019 GTX+. Car is primarily driven by my father. I personally haven’t seen the notification till now. But he has been complaining since the last year that the notification no longer comes.

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

In my 2019 Seltos gtx dct plus, I wasn't happy with the sound quality. Got all the four doors damped, replaced both front and rear speakers with powerful coaxial speakers. While this improved the sound quality significantly, it still had something missing and I always felt that the high-end was weak (increasing the treble to maximum also didn't make much of a difference). Finally, last weekend, I decided to get the front factory tweeters checked. When I got the front door cards opened, I found that no sound was coming out of the bose tweeters (I suspect that the tweeters haven't been working for a long time).

As the Accessory guy didn't have branded tweeters, I asked him to fit whatever he had (some thing called bowstrick). Even with this tweeter, I am noticing a huge improvement in the overall sound signature. While I will get these tweeters replaced with a branded one in the future, for now I am content with the outcome.

Probably you need to check if the subscription is still active. You need to pay for the e-Sim to work.

So, are you saying replacing the rear speakers makes a difference in the existing sound quality. I'm not a audiophile, but just wanted to see that there is a balanced output from the front and rear speakers.

The subscription is active. Bought the 3 year plan. Everything else works. All the remote commands sent are executed. The only issue is that the notification for the car doors being left unlocked doesnt come. But i have my doubts if it is a feature to begin with. Hence asking other seltos owners.

Some say it works. Some say it doesnt. Even the people at Kia India, the local service center and the people at Kia Connect are clueless whether or not its a feature to begin with.

Remote commands getting executed is a sign that the subscription is still valid. Door open notification is a feature..

In the KIA App, check - App Settings->Push Notifications. Check whether all are enabled?

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Hi everyone
I have been using Jan 2020 Seltos D AT HTK+ with tyres upgraded to 17”. The suspension, as we all know for first batch, is very harsh. One of fellow bhpian has replaced the suspension with the pre-facelift one and praised it for its comfy ride.
Kia has further improved the suspension setup in the facelift version and I am looking forward to replace mine with that.
Anyone else planning or already changed the suspension, pls share the feedback.
Thanks

We have a November 2019 Seltos GTX+ D AT. Got it as a daily driver for my father but has since been handed down to me after we upgraded him to the XUV700 AX7L D AT.

He is not much of a car person let alone an enthusiast. Yet after we got a 2022 Tucson, he would regularly comment on how it felt far more softer and supple compared to his Seltos (the multilink rear suspension of the Tucson is far superior to any normal, soft Torsion beam setup; let alone the stiff setup of the Seltos). No wonder he loved the ride quality of the XUV700 when we did a TD.

I always felt that the Seltos was a little stiff but during the 200-300km i had irregularly driven it initially, i really loved the way it stayed stable through fast sweeping corners and at triple digit speeds.

But fast forward to this year, I got the Setos as my daily driver upgrade from a Duster 85PS RxL. Have spent more than 8,000km with it and a few road trips too. Now the appreciation of its sporty stiffness has been completely overshadowed by the harsh and downright bone-jarring ride it has on bad city roads ridden with broken patches and potholes.

The car odo currently stands at 41,xxx. I feat that the already hard suspension may have gotten worse due to my father’s horrible habit of taking potholes and broken roads at regular road speeds without even blinking. Praying to god that a suspension overhaul wont be needed at the 60k km service. But if it is so, i might consider this new softer setup.

Will it be standard, since I think the company just puts the new setup in the old cars getting new parts? Or is it a special request that you need to make?

Different service centers tell different stories- few will accept your request to replace with latest part (provided it fits perfectly), others will deny straightaway and will only replace with same part number. The part numbers for first batch and second batch are different.
I am waiting for few weeks so that the service centers get part numbers for facelifted seltos, even boodmo doesnt have the part numbers for Facelifted model.
Attached pics for outgoing seltos shock absorbers part number which a fellow bhpian used to replace his existing ones ( total cost was ~₹14k for all 4)

Hi all - just wanted to check if anyone got sound dampening/proofing? I have a 2021 Seltos and am thinking of getting it done. However, I am not sure if there could be an issue from warranty perspective.

Had a similar thought too for my 2019 Seltos GTX+ D AT. The engine note feels very gravely, monotonous and rough between 1,000-2,200 rpm wherein most city driving takes place. Also read on some thread that dampening the doors helps a lot with the Seltos’s speakers and their audio quality.

My biggest concern is not the warranty but rather the door panels not fitting back properly and causing rattling down the line with vehicle age.

Got our GTX+ AT Diesel damped last year. All 4 doors and Tailgate. External noise creeping in has reduced, and the door closes without any clanging. Music quality is better, more so the thump sounds do not make the doors play along. Warranty- no impact, and if the damping is done by a professional- absolutely no slack or fitment issues. Couldn't damp the floorboard yet. Go ahead, you will not regret this decision.

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Hi folks,

My question is for lower variant users with manual AC controls.

In my car, it seems that the blower speed goes up when brake pedal is pressed and returns to normal as soon as I step on gas. Or it could be the other way around, that the blower speed reduces as it senses engine load (when accelerator is pressed).

This variation is not too drastic but one can hear the blower noise go up and down on smooth roads with music off. Has anyone else faced the same? Is it something to worry about?

Got damping and speakers upgrade done 3 months back on all 4 doors and boot. Very happy with the results. There is no warranty issue. My next project is to do damping in the wheel well area as well to reduce road noise.
