Stupid question but how to ask for this at the SC? Since mine is a 2019 model and someone suggested the part number are the same for the launch spec suspension, refreshed suspension spec during the KN logo change and the suspension spec of the facelift.

Will a request for a suspension change lead to the new spec installed?

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Managed to lock the car with keys inside!!

A quick car dusting exercise turned out to be a bigger headache than I imagined. Own a 2022 Seltos iMT HTK+ with keyless entry. Opened the boot without unlocking the car with House and Car keys in the shoulder bag. Kept the bag inside and closed the boot for dusting and then the car locked itself with all my keys inside . Finally, found a flaw with the keyless security system , and was unperturbed as I normally have a spare house key at a friend's place in the society and we both had a function to attend in an hours' time. But as luck would have had it, not the keys that I required.

Now I turned to Kia RSA and was quickly connected. Lady on the phone did mention that an expert technician would be sent as it was related to a Keyless remote issue and some damage (handle breakage) may occur. Requested her to connect with the technician before travelling. Meanwhile, was quickly thinking of visiting Kia Showroom/SC which is less than a Km away for any workaround and browsing Youtube videos on possible entry options into the car.

RSA technician called in 5 mins and understood the issue. He said he wouldn't be able to open the car without breaking the window as new age cars with such security mechanisms are not easy to open e.g sliding down a scale on the drivers window , etc. Now breaking a window or quarter panel glass was something I wasn't prepared for. Decided to either get someone rappel in my house balcony or get a locksmith to work his magic on the door.

Had to spend the night at friends joint and understood the importance of easy accessible spare keys. Things worked out next afternoon as a daredevil did enter my house(with proper safety equipment) and could get to my spare key.

Any alternative suggestions on what could have been done, as some of us may have gone through something similar in the past.

Point to remember: If your car allows to open the boot without opening the car via the keyless remote, make sure that you do not keep the keys inside or ensure to open the car first and then the boot. Hope this helps

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Hi everyone
I daily drive Kia Seltos 2020 GTX+ DCT and have been facing with "no signal" issue on the infotainment system. As seen in the below image, the signal bar has a red sign. The standard troubleshooting has not helped.

Kia Seltos : Official Review-kia1.jpeg

I took it to ASC, where I was asked to first connect with the Kia Connect team by sending an email. The ASC and Kia Connect mutually concluded that the modem has failed and it needs to be changed. Even though the ASC verbally agreed that this is a manufacturing defect, it is not covered under extended warranty - and have quoted a price of ~20k (just to replace the modem).

Kia Seltos : Official Review-screenshot-20240108-6.47.52-pm.png

Modems are essentially chips with no movement and should not stop working this prematurely. Heck a 10 year old phone will receive signals if turned on.

I am not sure if they have even able to diagnose the problem correctly and are taking the safe approach to replace a related part. The sad part is that I had renewed UVO for 3 years a few months back before the issue started to occur.

Is there a way to escalate this?

Thanks!

2022 Seltos. I am guessing you would have the Kia Connect app on your phone
Did you try unlocking the car with it?

Interesting episode there. Lucky that this did not happen during a drive/remote location. Remote unlocking via app really helps in these cases, I believe HTK does not have that feature?

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

This really seems to be a bug. Usually when the keys are left inside the car, it beeps and doesn't lock. This is a unique case where car (doors) was locked but boot was opened and then closed with the keys inside.

Are you sure your three-year subscription is still valid and active? Probably you have to renew your subscription as it comes only for 3 years validity at the first place.

True, Seltos HTK + variant does not come with Kia connect app, which would definitely be helpful for higher end variant owners in such cases. Same episode in a remote/drive location would have been a nightmare with possibility of resorting to window breakage and then reach nearest SC for repairs.

Yes. As mentioned, I had renewed it for 3 years. It worked fine for 2 months post subscription renewal and then failed.

Been dealing with UVO/Kia Connect issues for more than a year with my 2019 Seltos GTX+ D AT.

First off, ignore majority of what the ASC is saying. Most are untrained when it comes to the connected car tech and its workings. Their only solution is do a soft reset or call the helpline. The call center that the helpline routes to is of no help either.

The real culprit here is the corporate structuring. For some reason the Kia Connect department is just limited to the call center and the actual tech team can only be accessed by the Kia Connect representative by email. There is virtually no direct line of communication between the person handling customers and the person who has knowledge regarding the issues.

The issue is not with your modem. I faced a similar issue. All it needs is a factory reset of your infotainment unit. This can be done by accessing a secret engineering mode menu in the settings. Videos of how to do it can be found online.

Alternatively, the workshop guys at the ASC will be able to do so. This may take some persuading the SA on your side since they will have no idea what you are talking about and might be hesitant to do so. (Took me 2 hours of “the SA doing the usual, reset, login to the app, call helpline, helpline guy asking to go to nearest ASC, SA telling him that he is an SA at an ASC” for the SA to finally cave in and call an engineer from the back)

And whatever happens, do not pay a single dime prior to any resolution implemented by the company. I had an ongoing issue with Kia Connect about the “door left unlocked” alert not appearing for my car. After 3 months of back and forth on email, I was told that i would have to ship the infotainment unit to Bangalore (diagnosis cost alone was 35k Rs.). When I told them that I will be looking into legal actions, they promptly sent over a technician from Chennai. The technician took one look and turns out door unlocked alert was not a feature for the 2019 Kia Connect models. Thank god for not listening to “ship head unit for diagnosis”.

All of this when I had ran out of the company warranty. I am sure you will have a much easier time with your warranty still active.

Between the first and second replacement, the car ran around 7k kms in approximately 9 months.

Unfortunately for me, mine is a 2019 GTX+ D AT with the ultra firm (read: bone-jarring) suspension from the launch spec. That coupled with 40k of pothole ridden city road abuse by my father and his habit of (*loud crashing of the suspension bottoming out*) “what pothole?” led to this as I suspect.

It is still a well established fact though, that the worm gear shaft used by Hyundai/Kia in their cars from 2016-2020 have this issue, globally. People have had this issue on their Venues, Carens, Soul, Sorento and Santa Faes.

Sorry, completely missed replying to your questions.

1) The total cost was around 30K.
2) Got it done from The Automotive Lighting Experts. You can look for them on Insta
3) Using the regular Low/High beam stick
4) Would definitely recommend this. Previously I had reservations driving in the night as the lights were terrible. Now its a joy!

I have attached an image with the current system information.
I believe IN.16.41.44.571.201.2 is the latest map update(?). For our 2021 GTX+ AT diesel, was unable to update as device ID was not mapped to VIN. Got this updated, and enabled in engineering mode. You can download the map and update, its quite straight forward.

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Dear all,

its been more than 5 years since the original Seltos launched. Can any of the early (around 3-5 years of ownership) owners of the 1.4L Turbo Petrol DCT comment how their engine + gearbox is holding up?

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Does anyone have an idea of what the reserve capacity of the Seltos is? The tank is 50 litres - so does the DTE reach 0 when 45 litres is consumed or lesser?

Re: Kia Seltos : Official Review

Have you faced rusting issues on the exhaust? Today, my 1.5 years old Seltos went for 20K service where I observed excessive rusting on the exhaust muffler. I have requested a replacement under warranty and waiting for a response. However, I am shocked to see this on a new car. My other cars, parked under the same roof, never had any rusting issues.
Somewhat, I am a bit disappointed and shocked as well.
